A Full Cupboard

Summary:

Harry quirked his fingers at Fred and George, silently beckoning the twins over so they could deal with one particular problem that he wasn’t in the mood to solve at that moment.

Notes:

Day 12 of Domaystic 2022 was "Mugs." As always, thanks to the marvelous Scion for creating such a wonderful universe.

Work Text:

Harry quirked his fingers at Fred and George, silently beckoning the twins over so they could deal with one particular problem that he wasn’t in the mood to solve at that moment. When they were at his side, he glanced at the open cabinet and let out a very long sigh.

“Words, Harry,” George chided lightly while Fred’s brow furrowed as he looked at the cabinet as well.

“Which one do you want? You know you can just float one down, right? Unless your magic’s been acting up…”

“I don’t need one, my magic’s fine, and I’m not that short,” Harry returned, his tone mildly amused. Even now, they couldn’t see it. That’s probably why this had become a problem. “I was wondering why certain dishes weren’t put away and decided to do it myself only to find…”

“Find what?” Fred asked, a tad hesitantly.

“There’s absolutely no room to put them away.”

The twins’ ears pinked as they started to catch on.

“Yeah, we haven’t exactly asked Quinn yet if he could clear out a cupboard or make some more space,” George admitted.

“Honestly, we were hoping that Ethan would before we would have to, because you know how Quinn gets…” Fred added.

So close and yet so far…

“I know exactly how Quinn gets,” Harry agreed. “But we don’t seriously need two cupboards for mugs, do we?”

He tried not to laugh when the two Pareya paled at what he was implying.

“Clean it out?” Harry asked, keeping his voice light. “Box up the ones we aren’t using. Before Quinn goes on his spring cleaning rampage or before Theo starts noticing enough to say something?”

Both of them pulled a face. Cleaning out the mug cupboard was probably one of the more dangerous tasks in the kitchen, because if they weren’t extremely careful, someone’s claws would get stepped on. Everyone had their preferred mugs. Plural. Some had ones they used specifically for tea and others they used specifically for coffee. They always needed a steady supply of travel mugs in the mornings when inevitably someone just had time for breakfast on the go. And they really couldn’t hide away the #1 Parent or #1 Dad mugs for fear of possible tears or someone feeling like their gift wasn’t appreciated.

When he didn’t get an immediate response, Harry looked at the twins with wide green eyes. “Please?”

They visibly caved.

“No fair,” Fred muttered an hour later when they were still sorting through the various mugs. “Where did he learn to play dirty like that?”

George arched an eyebrow. “You’ve met our Alpha, right? Where do you think he learned it?”

“Oh, hush.”

Notes:

I wasn't sure if I was going to post this one here or not, but I've had sort of a stressful week (sick cat, emergency trip to the vet, brief cancer scare, though that seems to have been ruled out now and she's home after spending a night in the animal hospital) and I figured a surprise update in this series would make up for me not posting on my normal WIP Wednesday schedule. Hope you enjoyed!
