Summary
For all his years at sea, Ed had only ever done this before he became Blackbeard. Willingly got on his knees for someone else. He gave his submission even more rarely. With the legend and reputation of Blackbeard, he’d packed up the part of him that begged for attention, that pleaded with the world for kindness and craved gentleness.
To be on his knees now, having willingly given his submission over to Stede Bonnet, the Gentleman Pirate he’d only met a handful of days earlier was almost unthinkable. Almost, because of the protective, fiercely satisfied grin on his face as he watched the French burn. Almost, because of the reverence in Stede’s touch as he bathed Ed. Almost, because of the gentleness in his hands as he brushed and braided his hair. Almost, because of the way Stede looked down at Ed with awe and wonder shining in his eyes, thumb tracing the shape of himself through Ed’s cheek, worship in his touch.
