When the Sinister Barrister opens the floodgates onto the Undercity before turning on the Evil Magistrate, no one is yet there to stop him. The Steel Samurai and the Pink Princess, desperate and exhausted, find themselves willing to accept help from a source once unthinkable — their old enemy himself. He says he’s acting out of wounded pride, but is there some more sinister motivation — or, perhaps, some softer one?

A wry but sympathetic approach to teen angst makes this both engaging and extraordinarily funny. The tongue-in-cheek tone lends a sense of perspective even when the characters lack it, but the whole story maintains a sense of fondness, not just for the characters but for the entire state of foolish youth. Well worth a read, even for those of us who are very far from our high school years.
