It had been an entire week since Basil committed suicide, An entire week since Aubrey pushed Basil to suicide.
She still remembers that night. Everytime she closes her eyes, she sees Basil, slumped over in his room, blood all over the floor and a pair of garden shears in his abdomen.
She remembers hearing Polly scream, hearing the sirens getting closer. She remembers the feeling of blood soaking her knees, yelling for Basil to wake up as Hero held a towel to his gaping wound.
The cold night air as Kel, Hero, and Aubrey watched Basil be wheeled away in an ambulance, She remembers Kel's words,
“Why does this keep happening to us?”
