Chapter Text
To be completely fair to Tubbo, he did keep Tommy and Ranboo relatively updated in how things were going, and to be fair, nothing else had happened as far as Tubbo saw it.
But no matter what, Tubbo couldn’t avoid the fact that he had to go back to school again tomorrow.
He may hate school for the sole reason of him having to walk some days, but he also just doesn’t like some of the people. At least he has Tommy and Ranboo there - even if they don't share a lot of classes.
Either way, school was inevitable, and Tubbo had a major project due soon and wanted to get feedback from the teachers so he had to be at school. He didn't know why, but the teachers would only send semi-cryptic emails for feedback if he wasn't there in person for them to have a full conversation.
His dread for school was relatively small until he was called into the living room by his mum.
"Hey sweetheart, I'm so sorry but because I'm working instead of Charlotte tomorrow i can't drive you to school, so you'll need to walk," she told him, unaware of how Tubbo's heart dropped. But there was still hope.
"What about dad? Can he take me?"
"No, sorry, he has a meeting at 7:30, which is set to go for an hour and a half, so he can't leave."
"Oh, okay then, I'll walk."
"Well you don't really have much of a choice hon," Tubbo's mother laughed. "Sorry again for this, I'll get you something from macdonald's on my way home, okay? And then I’ll pick you up from the bus stop after school. What would you like?"
"Oh, uh, could I please have a coffee frappe?"
"Sure thing."
And so here Tubbo was; dreading school substantially more.
Well, it's just one morning, and he has PE in 4th period so his leg won't be too sore. Even with the hills, Tubbo should be fine.
When Tubbo woke up, he woke up to his mum yelling at him to "get up please! You're going to be late!!" This alone set Tubbo into what was more or less a panic mode and Tubbo - in his scrambling attempts to get out of bed - got his bad ankle tangled in the sheets as he fell face first onto the floor. Ouch.
But, Tubbo didn’t have time to worry about that, as when he looked at his phone to see the time it read 7:30. Half an hour later than he needed to wake up to be ready in time. Fuuuck.
Tubbo rushed through his morning routine, opting to skip breakfast all together and going straight to brushing his teeth. He then got dressed, grabbed his books (which he then roughly shoved into his bag, ignoring the voice in the back of his head that cried out about the state that his books would be in by the time he got to school) put his shoes on and was out the door, his mum having left a few minutes after he woke up. Glancing at his phone once more to check the time, he realised he was running late.
Great.
If you were any passerby it would be a weird sight; a small brunet teen sprinting as best he could but still having to hop every few steps because of discomfort it brought his leg, his shoelaces even undone, ever so lucky that he hadn’t tripped on them yet.
By the time that Tubbo got to the bus stop - which was a good mile from his house mind you - the bus had just pulled up, and Tubbo was eager to get on. Sitting down sounded like absolute heaven to Tubbo, but when he entered the bus, he realised that all of the seats were taken. Not even the special seating for elderly, disabled or pregnant people. Every single seat had already been taken, and Tubbo's already bad morning just got worse.
By the time Tubbo got to school, he was nearly sweating trying to hide any hint of a limp. He didn't want to be dramatic after all.
Lucky for him, Tommy and Ranboo were both waiting for him a short ways from the bus stop.
Ignoring the pain that was coursing through his hip at this point, Tubbo walked over to his friends, a smile on his face.
"Hey bossmen!"
"Hey Tubbo!"
"Hello king," Tommy called back.
"How have your mornings been?" Tubbo asked, eager to get his own morning off of his mind.
"It was okay"
"Yeah it was alright"
Ranboo and Tommy replied respectively, each of them now on their way to classes.
Homeroom and first period went well enough, Tubbo shared these classes with both Ranboo and Tommy. Another positive of this was that they had both classes in the same room, meaning that Tubbo didn’t even have to get up between classes, providing his leg with some relief.
A little too much relief.
Because when the period came to an end and Tubbo went to stand, he felt each of his joints screech in agony at the movement. It was so overwhelming that he had to sit back down for a second before re-attempting the simple task. Tommy and Ranboo, of course, noticed.
“Woah, hey man you okay?” Ranboo asked, his eyebrows pinched in concern.
“Y-yeah, just uh, just got up too fast,” He lied, not wanting his friends to be more concerned about his joints than they already were.
“Well then get up slower next time dumbass,” Tommy piped up, though there was a hint of something in his voice that Tubbo couldn’t quite place.
“Yeah yeah whatever,” Tubbo responded, now getting up again, though noticeably slower and also already ready for the pain that was about to course through his leg.
Throughout the rest of the day, Tubbo dealt with the usual things that he had to put up with; the rude classmates, the frustrating back and forth across the school to get to each of his classes, and that general tired feeling that school seemed to bring along as a package deal with being spoken at for hours on end.
One particularly interesting moment of the school day was during lunch. Tubbo was just trying to walk to the table where he and his friends sat to eat when one of the sport obsessed boys from the year above him ran into him, sending both of them crashing to the ground. Tubbo landed directly on his bad leg, sending even more pain along his joints. The boy who knocked him over quickly apologised before running off again, leaving Tubbo on the floor to struggle to his feet. After about half a minute of futile attempts and measured deep breaths, Tubbo was back on his feet, limping over to the table. He wasn’t able to hide the limp at that point, the pain was just too much.
Once he finally made it to the table, he slowly lowered himself onto the chair and laid his head down on the cool wood of the table.
Noticing Tubbo arriving, Ranboo and Tommy looked up and watched as the boy limped along and finally arrived at their table.
“Hey man, you okay?” Tommy asked, worried for his friend.
“Yeah, yeah, some guy ran into me and knocked me onto my bad leg, so it hurts a bit,” Tubbo told the pair, lifting his head so that his chin was on the table.
“Wait when?!” Ranboo questioned as he launched into concerned-mum-friend™ mode.
“Just a minute ago,” Tubbo sigh
“Well are you okay??”
“Yeah, I'm okay, don't worry. I can't wait for today to be over though, I need a nap,” He laughed out, trying to lighten the mood and change the topic. Luckily, Tommy and Ranboo bought it and changed the topic very quickly.
Tubbo just wished his body worked.
