Summary
When Naomi Shurley is diagnosed with terminal lung disease Castiel returns to Lawrence, Kansas to look after his mother in her final months.
With him is four year old Jack the son of his best friend Kelly who had died six months previously leaving Castiel trying to raise a traumatized child while battling his own grief.
Returning to Lawrence, Castiel has to contend with the ghosts and secrets of his past, the complications of looking after a woman who had made his childhood miserable and face the anger and cold shoulder of Claire the niece he had abandoned.
Crowley is a ruthless crime boss who Castiel shares a dark twisted secret with. The man has the power to destroy Castiel's life and by default Jack's and Claire's just by opening his mouth and Crowley isn't about to let him forget it.
