Ladybug looked around her, Chat Blanc keeping a strong grip on her leg, Makaze in her storm form surrounding them. She saw the Grimoire containing the akuma and the Lucky Charm sword in her hand. One last desperate idea came to her. She threw the sword at the book.
It sailed through the air…
And missed.
“No!”
She desperately tried to break free to get to the sword, but Chat pulled her back and got up, “Now, now, m'lady, you give it your best, but it’s over. You lose.”
He shot a Cataclysm and destroyed the Charm.
“Noooooooooooo!”
She struggled as Chat and Makaze, who had returned to her physical form, pulled her up and removed her Miraculous.
“Tikki, you will not resist or attempt to escape,” Chat ordered her Kwami, who looked defeated.
“Adrien! Please,” Marinette begged while trying to break free from Makaze’s grip.
“Fighting until the end, m'lady? This is why we want you. Your fighting spirit will lead us to victory.”
Markov continued to dodge the Polyrats with Cobra King shouting instructions to Aethon.
“Left! Left again! Right!”
But no matter how fast he could move, the result was inevitable.
A Polyrat landed on his right, another on his left, and more piling on and weighing him down until he crashed down onto the floor.
The last thing he remembered was Aethon walking over and activating his emergency shutdown.
Sapphire kicked Minotyrant in the chin, knocking him back, while Bunnyx threw her umbrella at Violet Tigress.
“I can do this all day!”
“Oh, sis, I don’t think so.”
Sapphire looked over at Vesper Queen to see that her wasps had returned. Whatever her Sentibeing had done to her powers had worn off.
Before either of them could do anything, the wasps swarmed and stung Sapphire and Bunnyx, paralysing them.
“Take them to the crypt,” Vesper Queen ordered.
Sapphire looked around, helpless as they were carried away.
Marinette didn’t know how long they kept her locked in here.
It felt like days but was probably hours.
Eventually, the door opened, and a figure stepped through.
“Chloé?!”
“No, Marinette, I am Azurite. Everything they said was true. No more guilt. No more pain. Just peace and bliss.”
“Chloé, please fight this.”
“I can’t, nor do I want to.”
“It’s no use, Marinette,” Vesper Queen joined them, giving Azurite a sisterly hug, “You can’t talk us into giving this up.”
“This isn't who you are.”
“It is now, and it’s who you're going to be.”
The sisters each grabbed an arm and dragged her through the mansion until they reached Gabriel’s office and entered the lift.
Marinette looked at her captors, desperately searching for signs of them fighting the akuma's corruption, but there was nothing.
When they reached the bottom, she once again wondered about this place. How had Hawk Moth built it all with no record of its existence?
She knew she was trying to distract herself from what awaited her.
“Hey, girl, glad you could make it,” Rena Rage smirked.
“It will be so good to put all this unpleasantness behind us,” Boarella added, leaning into Violet Tigress’s side.
“No!” Bunnyx cried. She was being held by Bunnxtreme and Emperor Monkey, “This isn’t what’s supposed to happen!”
Marinette looked around, Adrien’s mother in the device. Markov deactivated on a nearby table. And she was surrounded by the akumas, with the chair from last time waiting for her. She couldn't see a way out.
“Rooster, if you will,” Chat Blanc asked.
Rooster Brazen nodded and touched Rena’s shoulder, “Super Sublimation!”
Rena then put Marinette’s Miraculous on her ears and touched her on the wrist, “Say the words,” she commanded, using the power Rooster Brazen had given her.
“TTTTikkki, Spots On!” She shouted, the words forcing themselves out of her throat.
“Now, m'lady. It’s time for you to join us.”
She was tied to the chair, and Chat Blanc approached with the Grimoire and placed it in her hand.
She closed her eyes and tried to fight the akuma, but with the hopelessness of the situation, she wasn’t able to fight it this time.
The purple and black substance covered her, transforming her into someone else entirely.
When the substance faded, she had a black costume and red spots.
Miss Fortune felt a connection to the others, not a hive mind. She couldn't read their minds or their emotions. But she could feel their presence in the back of her mind, letting her know she wasn’t alone anymore and never would be again.
A scream brought her back to reality.
Everyone was backing away from Bunnyx, who was going fuzzy like interference on an old TV.
“What’s happening to her?” Caprilord asked.
“Her past has changed, so her timeline must be being rewritten,” Bunnxtreme theorised.
The screaming stopped, and Bunnyx stabilised, but she looked different, her costume now black and blue. She had become an adult version of Bunnxtreme.
“Aaaahhhh,” she stretched, “that is so much better.”
As she stood up, her past self approached her, “How are you doing, future me?”
“Very well, Mini-me, it’s all so clear now, but I have to return to my own time.”
She opened a black portal, “Now you all have a world to conquer. I would say good luck, but I already know how this turns out.”
With that, she left.
Miss Fortune looked around at her team, her troops, her family and smirked. The world didn’t have a chance.
Over a year passed.
Miss Fortune looked over Shanghai from the top of the skyscraper. They had just finished subduing it and were now taking the people to the converted, with Ladydragon being the first in line.
It had taken a while to figure out a way to get the akuma to work for anyone. And once she had, the first one they tried it on had been Adrien’s mother, whom she had been able to heal with her increased powers. His father was still locked in the mansion back in Paris. He still had a lot to pay for.
“M'lady,” Chat Blanc approached her, “Robostus has taken control of Tokyo’s security systems and Makaze and Madame Hound have tracked down the remaining people with superpowers within the city, but some got away before Shell Shock could put his Shell-ter up.
That meant they would be on their way to New York, the so-called last refuge, but in time they too would join them and then…
Miss Fortune became troubled.
“What is it, princess?”
“I was just wondering, what will we do once this is over? Once everyone is like us, what will we do with our time?”
Chat stroked her cheek, “Anything we want, m'lady,” He kissed her, “Anything at all.”
She smiled. Her Kitty was right, of course. The world would be at peace at last, with nothing to hinder them from their potential. It was going to be glorious.
