Work Text:

Jeno closed his laptop, pressing his cold palms against his eyes to cool himself down. The items he needed both had delivery dates in over a month, and there were only two weeks left before his brother's wedding. Time was running out and he desperately needed the gift he promised he'd offer his future brother-in-law, and the one thing that was essential for the ceremony to run smoothly.

Without wasting a second, he shoved his phone and wallet in his pockets and ran to catch the subway to the nearest mall, all while cursing himself for not taking care of this earlier. Would he even find both of those things in a mall? Gosh, now that he was here, it seemed stupid. So stupid. Of course, he wouldn't.

Ruminating and dragging his feet as he passed by yet another clothing store, his eyes caught sight of a shop he never realized had been there before. He tentatively enters, and feels relief wash over him when he sees just what he needs sitting at the center of the room.

The shop clerk walked over to him, diverting Jeno's attention from the products exposed on the walls. He looked handsome, with wavy brown hair and tanned skin, and a smile that could put the sun to shame.

"Hello, welcome to Yamaha. I'm Lee Donghyuck, what can I do for you?"

Donghyuck. What a pretty name, so fitting for such a pretty man. Jeno felt the stress lift off his shoulders in an instant, the positivity radiating off him enough to calm him down.
Donghyuck looked at him intently, and Jeno picked his jaw up from the floor to reply. He looked around him and pointed at the big piano that was at the center of the store.

"I need a piano for a wedding. It's in two weeks."

The man seemed surprised, eyeing him up and down.

Jeno quickly added, "My big brother's wedding, not mine."

"Well, you've come to the right place." He clasped his hands together and walked him to the piano. "Seems like you have a good eye because this is the best model we've got in store, and it's perfect for a grand ceremony. Do you want a demonstration?"

Jeno took a closer look at it. It looked majestic, and it would look even better in the cathedral where Jaehyun planned to get married. Donghyuck waited for his answer, his customer service smile plastered on his face as Jeno admired the piece.

"Um… yes. If you don't mind."

"Of course, I don't mind."

He chuckled, and Jeno felt weak in the knees. He could already hear his best friend Mark teasing him, "Bro, get up!", but just a few minutes with Donghyuck had him smitten.

Donghyuck propped open the lid with an expert hand, and sat down on the stool, patting the little space there was next to him.

"Come sit with me, you'll experience it better."

Jeno joined him, keeping his arms as close to his body as he could to maintain a semblance of distance between them, but it was hard. Their shoulders were touching, arms bumping into each other as Donghyuck pressed a few keys to check the tone. He positioned himself more comfortably, and Jeno felt his thigh touch his, electricity spreading all over his body.
Jeno didn't know if it was too soon for him to be so close to a stranger, but oh did he enjoy every bit of it. As Donghyuck moved, Jeno caught a whiff of his perfume. He smelled like a spring breeze, fresh and acidulous, everything Jeno likes.

"Is there anything you'd like to hear in particular?"

Donghyuck turned to look at him, and Jeno couldn't meet his eyes, the proximity tingling every shy nerve in his body.

"Could you- um- can you play the wedding march? If you know it."

"Of course."

He started playing, and Jeno was transported, floating along with the notes in the air.
He noticed how he struggled to reach certain keys because Jeno was sitting next to him, so he took it upon himself to play them for him. They worked in perfect harmony, surprising for two men who had just met.

As they hit the last note, they heard a few claps and saw a couple of passersby had stopped to listen, the sound of the piano resonating loud enough for them to hear.
Jeno stood up and slightly bowed his head to acknowledge their public, and Donghyuck followed suit with an exaggerated reverence.

He slapped the top of the piano lightly, bringing Jeno's attention back to him in order to do his sales pitch.

"This bad boy is a Yamaha DC6 X. It has all the basics of a classic piano: three pedals, 88 keys, a lid and a bench. It also comes with a Silent Piano kit included if you need to practice without disturbing anyone. It records and also replays so you can adjust any composition you're working on. In terms of your personal needs, it's perfect for playing at a wedding, I'll tell you that. You heard how it sounds just now, it’s beautiful, isn’t it?"

Jeno nodded, looking into the housing, pretending to be considering his offer. Frankly, he needed the piano no matter what, and he would buy anything Donghyuck told him to. But he had to pretend, at least just a little bit.

"Budget wise, it's around 88.6 billion won, as you can expect for such a product. But I feel like that wouldn't be a problem for you."

He pointed at the Rolex on Jeno's wrist, and he nodded, blushing slightly.

"This one is perfect, I'll take it, thank you."

They proceeded with the transaction and, luckily, it could be delivered over the course of the week, a few days ahead of the wedding.

"Is there anything else you need? For the wedding, or for yourself?"

"Well…" Jeno passed a hand at the back of his neck, wondering if he could possibly have the answer to his needs. "I don't know if you could help me with that."

"Try me."

His smile and his voice was enticing, and Jeno couldn't help but give in.

"I need a motorcycle. I'm supposed to buy one as a gift for my brother's husband."

Donghyuck's chuckle confirmed to Jeno that this was a ridiculous request, but, instead of bidding their goodbyes, he took his hand. Jeno felt goosebumps on his arms at the contact of his soft hand, that fit in his perfectly. This was terrible, how will he ever recover from this?

"You're not gonna believe this."

He led him to the other part of the store, and Jeno truly could not believe it.
There was motorcycle gear everywhere, including a few models exposed in the store. Was this magic? Was he in a Christmas miracle movie, right in the middle of June?

"You sell motorcycles too? Oh, you are a blessing, Lee Donghyuck, I could literally kiss you right now," Jeno blurted out, relieved now that the wedding was saved.

"Oh, really?" Donghyuck raised an eyebrow with a slight grin, and Jeno felt heat come up to his cheeks.

"I mean. You know- Um…do you have this model in black?"

He pointed at a silver motorcycle set on the side in order to distract Donghyuck from the very real implications of what he had just said.

"Yes, we do, actually."

The smile that had not left his lips since Jeno had entered the store seemed to grow more and more genuine as he watched him study the wheels and the handles.

"Great. Could you bundle it with the piano so they come on the same day?"

"Absolutely."

"Thank you, you're a lifesaver."

Jeno had to hold himself back from hugging him, all his worries disappearing in an instant thanks to Donghyuck.

"Just doing my job."

As he was about to leave, Jeno turned on his heels and came back to the cash register. He had to try, he wouldn't forgive himself for the rest of his life if he let the chance slip through his fingers.

"Um… Lee Donghyuck?"

He raised his head from the receipt he was printing, and his hair followed his movements in slow motion, making him look unreal.

"Yes?"

"Do you have plans for June 26th? It's a saturday."

He shook his head. "No, I don't think so… why?"

Great. Perfect. It's happening. Oh, it's happening.

"Would you like to come to the wedding with me? I mean, you did save it from being a complete disaster, I feel like you have to be there," Jeno teased, wondering himself where he got this confidence from.

Donghyuck giggled, a light blush painting his cheekbones in the sweetest way possible. Jeno felt himself grow wings. He could fly, his heart about to leave and float away on a cloud.

"As your date?" Donghyuck asked, lightly biting the inside of his cheek to keep some composure.

"If you'd like that, yes."

"I'd love that."

Jeno's eyes disappeared into crescent moons, the tips of his ears adorably turning red with each passing second.

"Good. Here's my number," He wrote something on the back of a business card and slid it to him over the counter, "See you then, Lee Donghyuck."

"See you then,” he glanced at the card, “Lee Jeno."

As Jeno walked out, Donghyuck took a look at it and couldn't help but smile, again, like he had been for the past hour.

Lee Jeno
CEO of Lee Design
Architecture Firm
XX-XXX-XXXX

On the back, he had scribbled "thank you so much for today!! text me as soon as you can =)".

Maybe he didn't hate his job so much, after all.

The second he was out of sight, Jeno jumped, doing a little victory dance while his heart jumped in his chest along with him. He didn’t care about the looks he received, the excitement overpowering any shame he could feel. Unknowingly, Donghyuck had solved three of his problems: the piano for the ceremony, the motorcycle for Johnny, and a date for him.

This was going to be the best wedding of the year, and maybe his could be the next.
