Chapter Text
Today was just an average day at PK Academy. Well, for a day a PK Academy, the school full of abnormal weirdos.
Saiko’s limousine pulled up to the entrance to the school later than most students arrive. He was rich, it didn’t matter if he was on time, late or even showed up. Saiko was extra determined to get Teruhashi to marry him.
He bought her sweets, reserved an entire 5 star restaurant for later today, and rented a movie theatre out just for the two of them. There was no way she could say no!
He walks in, greeting his classmates as he usually does. Meaning, he didn’t. He just ignores everybody and walks up to Teruhashi’s desk. He could hear the students groan in annoyance.
Of course they would, this is the 16th time this week he’s tried to win her over.
“Teruhashi, you and I are going on a date tonight. I made a reservation for the best restaurant in the entire city. Then, we’ll go to the movies. I rented out the entire place.” Some may find renting out the entire movie theatre a waste of money, but he was rich! He can do anything he wants!
“Oh, I’m sorry Saiko, I’m busy studying for the upcoming test next Thursday.”, was how she responded.
How? How could studying be more important than money!? More important than the restaurant everybody's parents wish they could afford!? Who doesn’t like a quiet movie theatre to themselves!?
“But, studying can wait. Don’t you want to go?”
“Studying is very important. I’ve got to do well on that test!” ‘ She really knows how to wiggle out of something. How many times has she had to do this!?’
“Fine! Your loss.” Saiko then walks to his seat. He honestly didn’t want to sit here any longer, their stares were making him feel more and more embarrassed.
‘She isn’t even that pretty anyways! I’ve seen way prettier people than her, like… like… like Saiki! Wait… Saiki?’
Oh wow. Didn’t expect that one.
‘Did I just think Saiki!? No, that was probably a mistake… but-’
Why are you continuing that sentence-?
‘He is kind of… cute…? I mean, his pink hair is really attractive-’
How is hair attractive?
‘I wonder what colour his eyes are… why does he wear those weird glasses anyways? Not that he looks bad in them. If it were anyone else I’d think they were ugly.’
I… what? What the hell just happened? It’s almost as if… no.
‘Now that I think about it, Saiki is much more considerate than Teruhashi is most of the time, and Saiki feels less fake.’
Saiko… where did this come from?
‘Do I… have a crush on Saiki?’
Why doesn’t it sound as bad as the last time I heard that? I must have malfunctioned, too in shock that a guy, somebody I know and sometimes hang out with, likes me. Or I’m just so used to it, that it doesn’t really faze me anymore.
But honestly, this shocked me. And that isn’t an easy feat in the life of a psychic. There were no previous implications of a crush even forming. No thoughts revealing he thought I was attractive. Nothing.
‘I wonder if he’ll take this dessert I bought for Teruhashi.’
Yes. Yes I will.
‘I’ll do it after class, when no one is watching.’
Good luck with that…
And so, Saiki had to wait impatiently for his desser- I mean for class to end. Once the bell rung, Saiki sat still. Most would think he spaced out, but he was just waiting. Waiting for Saiko to hand him his dessert, and then leave him alone.
After telling his “friends” to go one without him, he began packing up his stuff. Really slowly. Seriously, what is taking him so long?
‘Why am I so nervous to give something to a pleb? He probably wont even realise how much this cost. Only a few million yen, but he should recognise when something is better."
Who do you take me for? That’s not going to matter if you don’t give it to me.
‘Metori, just get it over with!’
“Sai-Pleb! Teruhashi didn’t want this expensive dessert, so I decided to give it to you. Don’t like it? Give it to someone else!” ‘Please like it…’
Very rare words coming from the rich man. Don’t worry, I’ll do more than just like it.
Saiki opens the box it came in, and almost started drooling. Thankfully, he didn’t, that would be embarrassing. And it was coffee flavoured too, he could just smell it.
Apparently his face lit up, because Saiko’s thoughts started to go crazy.
‘Does that face mean he likes it? Ugh, you never know with this pleb! He’s so confusing!’
Saiki takes the fork out of the box and takes a small chunk off. He breathes is the sweet smell before putting it in his mouth, his face exploding into happiness. So this is heaven...
‘Oh. Wow.’
Hm? Saiki continued to eat the delicious coffee flavoured dessert, ignoring Saiko’s protruding thoughts as much as he could.
‘People really think Teruhashi is attractive? When this pleb is here? What an insane world I live in…’
You’re just noticing this now?
‘His smile is really, what’s the word, dazzling? Breathtaking?’
This icing is really sweet.
“Do you…like it?”, Saiko asks stupidly. Of course he liked it, do you think it’s easy to make a psychic smile?
‘Yes, thank you.’
…
…
…
…
‘I wanna marry him-’
…well crap.
So Saiki was in a predicament.
Not only does Teruhashi have a crush on him, not only does Aiura have a crush on him, but now Saiko does?
Why doesn't he feel repulsed by that thought?
Does he find Saiko attractive?
Well, his hair isn't bad… and his eyes, from what I've seen in pictures, are nice to look at. I don't appreciate his attitude, but I don't entirely blame him for that.
I mean, growing up with no friends? Always being told money can buy anything? Yeah, that'll do it.
If I were to get it through that thick skull of his that you can't buy everything with money, then maybe he'd drop the cockiness.
Maybe. Maybe I'll give him a chance. But I'll have to wait for him to actually do something. I can't just ask him out myself.
Not only is that uncharacteristic of me, but he doesn't know that I know he likes me. It'll also come off as if I'm certain I like him. Of course, that isn't true.
And what if I end up not liking him? Then I'll just end up leading him on, and when I tell him it isn't going to work out, he'll be upset.
I'm a psychic, not a monster.
So, Saiki decided to wait it out.
And wait.
And wait..
And- what the heck is taking him so long to say something!!
Sure, a normal person would take this long, or even longer. But this is Saiko we're talking about. He's the guy who walked in on his first day and asked Teruhashi out.
'Metori! Get a hold of yourself! It's just a treat, it's not like he'll find out you like him!'
What's he being so scared for?
Maybe I should give off hints? Is that what Yumehara said that one time? How would I even do that?
'I mean, there is no way he likes you! He practically ignores everyone who talks to him! He goes out of his way to avoid Teruhashi! Her of all people!'
So, what? Should I just pay more attention to him then? How exhausting, good grief…
"AHEM! S-Pleb!" He caught himself quicker this time. "This just so happened to be in my very expensive school bag, but I don't like coffee flavours."
The expensive bag didn't need to be mentioned.
'You're giving it to me, yes?' Saiki asks with a subconsciously hopeful look.
'Hnnnngh how can someone like desserts so much that they're willing to throw everything away just for something as small as coffee jelly?'
Who wouldn't?
"Well, if you really want it…"
Before Saiko could properly hand Saiki the jelly, the psychic snatches it out of his hands and immediately starts munching on it.
The class goes silent, all whispers halting to a stop.
In typical Saiko fashion, this all happened during a break in class.
Saiki pays no mind to the stares as he continues to happily munch on his delicious coffee jelly.
Saiko clears his throat, making Saiki halt.
"You are going on a date with me to the finest restaurant in this city!" 'Good thing I can move reservations.'
'No.'
Saiko looks shocked. "U-uh, why not!?!?"
'I don't care for fancy things.'
'That's it!?' Thought just about everyone
'Huh? Is Saiki… gay? Well, that would explain why he hasn't said "oh wow". I've never really encountered a gay man before, so I wouldn't know how it works.'
I guess that works.
'Maybe we're platonic soulmates? I mean, if Saiki is gay, then we can't be together!'
Is this a miracle or what?
"Is that all? Fine, we'll go wherever you want!" 'I don't get why you wouldn't want to go somewhere expensive, but if it works, I'll go wherever he wants.'
I'm pretending to think about it, but that's really generous of him. Is he really serious about this?
'Sure.'
'HE SAID YES!?'
The two of them sat at Saiki's usual seat at Café Mami. Yes, Saiki's favourite place.
'Reserving the entire café was completely pointless.'
"I didn't want anyone bothering us, I hope you don't mind?"
'They sure don't', Saiki spoke telepathically, looking over towards the owner and Mera.
"Tch, plebs."
'I don't mind you buying me sweets, but flaunting your money is useless. It'll never impress me.'
"What? But everybody loves money!"
'Money is on the lower side of my list.'
'How!?'
'I can't take you seriously if you keep trying to buy me off.'
"But, what else am I supposed to do? How else am I supposed to show you that I like you?"
'Maybe just tell me? Or, instead of spending your money on me, you just show me?'
"But, how do I do that?"
'... this is new for me too, you know.'
"Liking somebody is hard when everybody here is an idiot "
'Hmm, I can agree on that.' That, and I can only see your flesh right now. And if I stare long enough, I'll see your bones.
"You think so too?"
'Think so? I know so. Do you know how long I've been attending PK?'
"So they've always been this idiotic?"
'Pretty much…'
'I think this is the longest conversation I've had with him…'
"So, how do you think I should show you?"
'Well, I don't mind you all that much, but you're too cocky. Stop Flaunting your money, at least to me.'
"Okay, I won't! Anything else?"
'You're surprisingly cooperative.'
"Well, I'd do anything to marry you."
How sweet. Anyways-
'That's it though. As long as you don't spend too much on me, I'm fine with this.'
"Really? That's it? Well, what if I want to buy you really expensive sweets?"
'An exception.'
Saiko laughs. "What a predictable response!"
"..."
'...'
"...so. Do you want to be my boyfriend, or…?"
'I thought we already came to a conclusion? Yes.'
"A-awesome." 'He actually said yes. He said… yes????'
Don't malfunction on me.
"He said yes?" "That's what I heard"
"They're actually dating?" "It's just a rumor."
"I really can't believe Saiki would start dating someone, Saiko no less." "I think someone just made it up."
"Saiki!", calls out the light-blue haired boy. "Saiki! Is it true? Are you and Saiko dating?"
'...'
"Wait! Don't walk off! Are you ignoring me!?"
Good grief.
When I said yes to dating Saiko, I should've expected all this attention.
"Saiki!"
'Yes', was all he said, before turning the corner.
"...yes?"
'Huh, so they are dating. I know Saiki, and I know he always makes the right decision. If he's happy, then so am I!'
"Now I gotta go tell Aren!" Kaidou walks excitedly towards the former punk, unable to wait to tell him everything.
Good grief. We haven't even done something as basic as holding hands.
And now the entire school is aware of our relationship. In all honesty, I shouldn't have blindly trusted Kaidou to keep it a secret.
Oh well, it'll die down eventually… I hope.
