Chapter Text
Yuta woke up with a terrible headache as he tried to focus his eyes on his room, the dim light streaming through the window while a noise that seemed to hit his brain directly alerted him of his hangover state.
"Shit" he realized it was his phone ringing as he tried to find the device among the covers of his bed.
"Hello?" He answered without looking at the display who was calling.
"Yuta? Are you alive?" Mark's voice resounded from the other end with a laugh at the end.
"What? But of course I am! I don't know how but it looks like I was run over and I still survived" Yuta replied while rubbing his face trying to get the sleep out of his eyes.
Mark laughed.
"Man, after yesterday I thought we were going to have to take you to the hospital" Mark said and Yuta even considered asking him to take him to the hospital because his head felt like it was going to explode and his eyes were struggling to stay open, not to mention the lack memory he realized from the events of last night.
Yuta tried to remember some things from yesterday's party.
He remembered some parts when Johnny arrived with five shots of tequila and Yuta, now bitterly regretting it, thought it would be a good idea to warm up at the start of the party.
He remembers dancing with Mark and Jaehyun, and probably seeing Johnny and Ten making out in a corner, but he would talk about it with Ten later, Mark trying to get him to drink less and as usual, with wise words, saying that Yuta he would regret it when he woke up — Yuta would definitely listen to Mark more often.
"Argh, my head is going to explode, Mark," Yuta said as he buried his head in the pillow as if that was enough to take away the pain that seemed to hammer in his brain.
"I told you man, I already knew you'd wake up regretting all the tequilas you drank yesterday" Yuta had no idea how many shots of tequila he drank, but from the headache they brought, they'd probably got together and traveled to your brain and turned into little hammers that constantly beat on his head.
He pulled the covers up to his neck and realized he was just covered. Mark must have helped him undress yesterday, he hadn't showered yet and that would be the first thing he would do as soon as he managed to get out of bed.
"Okay mom, I understand that my actions have consequences."
"Great my love, now that you've seen the result of your whole partying yesterday, I'll be there in 10 minutes with food and medicine. Get up and open the door for me, and also let Jaehyun know you're alive because he was really considering calling an ambulance because you almost passed out yesterday, and after you arrived with lipstick all over your face-”
It was like a click and a flash of memory popped into Yuta's mind.
"Mark, wait … my God, wait, I just remembered something and… lipstick?" Yuta tried to get up abruptly from the bed and felt the world spin around him, while trying to untangle his legs from the blanket, he grabbed the dresser beside the bed and ran to the mirror that was in his room.
"What? Yuta did something happen?"
"No... wait, yes, when you get here I'll show you, I'm hungry, hurry up. It has to do with the lipstick I remembered what happened”
"Okay, I'm coming, bye"
As soon as Yuta looked at himself in the mirror he saw the red mark on his neck on the right side, it was almost gone, but it was there, it was proof of what had happened.
Some memories of last night began to surface.
—
Yuta was downing another shot of tequila and licking the salt from his hand. The party music was loud and now he was looking for a bathroom, the guy who had been with him the entire party just stepped aside to get a beer. "I'll just be on beer today, I need to keep an eye on you" He said but Yuta was sure the guy was also a little drunk from the way they danced together earlier and well it wasn't too good because they tripped and almost they spilled their drink on a girl who was passing by and when she turned around with a scolding look the two looked at each other and started laughing.
Even before he knew it, the guy was at his side again, intertwining his fingers, the party venue, a mutual friend's house, was dark, only a few colored LED lights illuminated the place.
"I need to go to the bathroom," Yuta said, trying to look for one nearby.
"I know where there's one, come" The guy pulled him by the hand and they went up the stairs of the house, passing some couples who were sitting on the steps and up there Yuta saw Johnny and Mark together.
They went to the end of the hall stopping at a door and the guy knocked to see if he was busy but no one answered, he opened the door and it really was empty.
"I'll wait for you outside" He said to Yuta.
Yuta entered and tried to turn on the light, but found that like the rest of the house, the bathroom was equally lit by dim lights.
After pissing, he went to wash his hands in the sink and try to analyze his appearance in the mirror.
From the lack of lighting, he could see that little of his shadow remained on his eyelids and his face looked a little flushed from the alcohol.
When he went to dry his hands on the towel, which was hanging there, and it looked clean, from the condition of the bathroom probably no one had discovered this bathroom yet.
What caught Yuta's attention was the lipstick there on the shelf next to the mirror.
Yuta took the object and opened it, it still looked brand new. Maybe it was their friend's, this was probably the bathroom she used.
Suddenly, his drunken mind had a brilliant idea.
He opened the bathroom door and the guy was still standing there, looking across the hall.
"Hey"
"Hey, is everything okay?"
"Yes, I just need one thing, can you come in here please?"
He entered and closed the door behind him, while Yuta was leaning against the sink.
"Look what I found," Yuta said, showing him the lipstick.
"A lipstick?"
"Yea"
The guy looked with a look of someone trying to understand the situation, not understanding very well what Yuta's intention was.
Yuta opened the lipstick which showed an intense red color.
"It's just that I've never kissed a guy who was wearing lipstick... and I've never kissed you either"
Yes, that was the effect of a drunk's mind.
"I don't mind putting on lipstick for you to have your first time."
He approached Yuta.
"But you'll have to apply it, because I'm terrible at it"
He grabbed Yuta's hips, while Yuta put a hand on his shoulder for balance. Now that they were so close, Yuta noticed the long eyelashes and the perfect mouth that he spent all night wanting to kiss.
Yuta took the lipstick towards his mouth, the noise of the party now sounded so distant and muffled because of the bathroom.
He started to apply lipstick on his lower lip, his eyes couldn't let go of that beautiful mouth. For a moment, they could only hear each other's breathing. But Yuta could still feel his heart beating so hard, and he was grateful now that he was drunk, he could never get that close to him.
Yuta now finished applying the lipstick and turned a little to put it in the sink.
He couldn't stop staring at that mouth, now perfectly shaped and covered in red lipstick, extremely beautiful. The red still stood out thanks to the boy's fair skin.
The boy, now took his eyes off Yuta's face, which remained there all the time Yuta applied lipstick on his lips, and looked at the mirror in front of him, little could be seen in fact due to the low lighting, but he could see the intense red that contrasted with his skin.
"You look beautiful" Yuta let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, he thanked for being pressed against the sink, and thus having some support, he took advantage of his hand on the boy's shoulder to hold on and squeezed.
"Thank you," the boy's low voice replied, and he squeezed Yuta's waist. "And, before you kiss a guy wearing lipstick for the first time, I need to do something"
Before Yuta could question, the boy leaned towards Yuta's neck, tracing a path with his nose, smelling Yuta, alcohol and his perfume, it was completely addictive.
Yuta's two hands were now on the boy's shoulders, one on each side. His eyes were closed, he just felt the boy's nose caressing the skin of his neck.
And that's when he felt it, the kiss on his neck, just above the encounter with his shoulder, on the right side.
His lips were so soft, and they lingered there.
The boy pressed his lips together hard, but nothing but his lips.
Yuta moaned when the boy raised his hands to his small waist, the hands were big and fit there perfectly.
The boy pulled away and looked at the imprint of his lips on Yuta's skin.
When Yuta opened his eyes, he felt his skin burning. The look the boy directed at his face was something he had never seen, and now he bitterly regretted being drunk and probably not remembering it tomorrow.
"Perfect" The boy said as he traced the mark of his kiss with his fingertips; Yuta's entire body trembled at the simple touch. "So beautiful, all mine... you're all mine"
Their faces approached and finally, their lips touched. It was a slow kiss that tasted like the salt that was still in Yuta's mouth, but it was soon replaced by the beer the boy was drinking and was passed into his tongue as they deepened their kiss.
Yuta tilted his head and his hands now found the boy's soft hair that he gently pulled.
Yuta opened his mouth to make room for the boy's tongue to lick his entire mouth, as if he wanted to feel every bit of it; his lips being drawn with the tongue of the boy who was biting his lower lip.
"I've been waiting for this for a long time, Yuta" the boy said so quietly that Yuta was sure his drunken mind had betrayed him and that shouldn't have been said.
Nobody ever said Yuta's name like that.
But one person…
They continued kissing for a while, Yuta had no idea how long they had been there in the bathroom. And in reality he didn't want to know, because the party now seemed so pointless.
Yuta was the first to break the kiss, giving small pecks on the other's lips.
He opened his eyes and saw that the boy's face was all messy with lipstick.
Yuta estarted to laugh.
"What?" the boy asked.
"You have lipstick all over your face." Yuta could only laugh.
"And how do you think yours is?"
"The same way?" Yuta laughed trying to turn around to see in the mirror.
"Exactly, the difference is that you have a mouth on your neck" the boy said while pointing to Yuta's neck, where the kiss he had deposited first is still there.
"I can't see," Yuta pouted.
"Where's your phone? Let me take a picture and then you'll be able to see it better and you'll still be able to keep it as a souvenir of the day you “Kissed a guy wearing lipstick for the first time”" The boy said as he took the cell phone that Yuta took from the pants pocket. "By the way, what's the difference?"
"Hmm" Yuta placed his hand on his chin as if thinking. "The lipstick I didn't see any difference other than the mess it left on my face and yours," he gestured between their faces, "but, your lips yes, yeah, that's the difference"
The boy's eyes gleamed.
"Glad you like"
He opened the camera app on the phone, and asked Yuta to turn a little sideways so he could take the picture. Yuta laughed at the situation.
The boy took the picture, and showed it to Yuta.
That was the most beautiful mouth he had ever seen.
That mouth marked on his neck with red lipstick was a sight that would haunt his mind for ages if he remembered it tomorrow.
—
And of course he wouldn't remember.
Lips, lips he remembers, thank God, the feel of those lips marking his neck and then against his own, was something that memory loss from excessive alcohol consumption hadn't taken away from him, and at least that.
However…
Who was that guy, Yuta?
Why can't you remember who he was?
Well, here's the thing: have you ever left the house one day for a party and decided that was the day to drink it all?
That was Yuta's intention.
No, he wasn't sad, or trying to drown his sorrows in something ... Yuta really liked to drink, and he also liked to party. The sensation of the loud music that seemed to run through his body along with the alcohol that always came with it brought a unique feeling of freedom and things he would never do if he was sober.
However, the side effect was in these situations, where you find a guy who stays with you the whole party, keeping you company and laughing at all your jokes while you laugh at theirs too... but the next day, you realizes that he doesn't remember the person's face and also that he hadn't taken their number.
Yuta, but it's not possible! How do you not remember?
Look, if you've ever drank a lot, like a lot, and done things that you only know it happened because your friends who were with you told you, or, the proof of that is that, the next morning you wake up, and you're in a group messages from strangers, because apparently you've snuck into a bush to look for someone's ring ... well you know.
And if you've never had enough to drink enough to make you have a "minor memory loss", it works something like this: you start drinking, and it's fine and normal, but suddenly, you've drunk almost a whole bottle and from nothing you don't even know what time it is, who are these people you're dancing, laughing and talking with.
Of course, Yuta would never do that without having some friend around, and that friend was always Mark and of course, Jaehyun too, but strangely, Yuta doesn't remember Jaehyun leaving the party yesterday.
Mark because he was simply Mark. One of his best friends and Yuta considered him like a younger brother.
Jaehyun.
Jaehyun was also one of his best friends. Yuta didn't know how to explain but sometimes it even seemed to be more than that, because Jaehyun was always there for him even though Yuta hadn't said a single word.
And so he remembers that Mark had mentioned in the call that Jaehyun was worried about him — because of his near-alcoholic coma.
Yuta opened the messages with Jaehyun and there were already some asking about his hangover state.
[11:10]
Yuta
Hellooo 🥰🥰
Yes Jaehyun, I'm alive.
No Jaehyun, I don't need to go to the hospital.
And yes, Mark is coming here with lunch and medicine, my head is killing me.
[11:13]
Jaehyun
Good morning.
I was worried about you, when Mark and I dropped you off at home you were unconscious and we were afraid to leave you alone but Mark made sure you wouldn't drown in your own vomit as your stomach is apparently immune to a hangover and all those shots. 😅😂
How are you? Do you remember anything from last night?
[11:14]
Yuta
I'm fine, don’t worry. ☺️
Yes, my stomach is immune but it reflects in the headache.
Omg, I remember a few things, but the only thing that comes to my mind is kissing a guy who was wearing lipstick and he left a mark of his mouth on my neck. lol
Later I'll show you the picture he took. 😝🤭
He had just gotten out of the shower and was toweling off his hair as he finished typing, he heard the door open and Mark yelling "I'm coming in".
Mark was already in the kitchen taking food and medicine out of the bags and placing them on the counter.
They sat at the kitchen table that was divided from the room only by a counter.
Yuta managed to get out of his college dorm thanks to a paid internship he got last year, and that was the first thing he did. As much as he liked sharing a room with Ten, there was nothing he prioritized more than his privacy.
And now in his last year of college and his internship in the journalism office - since this was his course, nothing more suitable than continuing on a job that paid him well and guaranteed a roof over his head and the food in his stomach and allowed his schedules to fit into exam season, he hoped to be hired.
"Tell me what you remember about yesterday, because after you showed up with your face all covered in lipstick and saying that you had kissed the most beautiful guy in the world, you blacked out and we had to bring you home" Mark was fixing the food for them.
He didn't say it in a scolding way, but in a caring way and Yuta felt bad about making Mark so preoccupied with his drunken state.
"I'm sorry Mark, I didn't want you to worry" Yuta took the pill that Mark was offering him on the table and took it along with the water.
"Let's get to the important part".
Yuta told him about the guy they apparently spent all night together, and Mark blurted out a "but I haven't seen you with anyone else, are you sure about that?" and Yuta was never so sure because he could feel the guy's hands on his waist as they kissed in the bathroom. He didn't forget the familiar feeling the guy had, as if he'd always been a part of Yuta's life, always been with him.
And most importantly the kiss.
Yuta remembered the photo and showed it to Mark to prove that no, it wasn't a hallucination.
The photo, a little dark in the background because of the flash used, focused only on Yuta's neck with the kiss mark; perfect red lips that graced the pale skin of his neck.
Mark had a kind of indescribable expression for Yuta. A mix of those who still don't believe, a mix of surprise.
"What?" Yuta asked as he took the phone that Mark handed him; Jaehyun still hadn't sent any more messages.
"It's a pretty crazy story," Mark said, taking some of the soda he brought. He crossed his arms on the table. "And now?"
“Now?” Yuta arched his eyebrows and shifted in his chair as if caught off guard by a question. "I don't know, to be honest. Like, was it the best kiss I've ever had? Definitely. And he was beautiful Mark, I can't tell you exactly, but his hair was so soft and his skin was pale- please don't look at me like that"
Mark had looked at Yuta as if he was telling another one of his lies.
"I'm not looking at you like that... You're just talking like a person in love even after you kissed a guy once at a party and you were so drunk you can't even remember his face"
"I can't explain Mark, it's like I've known him my whole life and I felt so good with him," Yuta said, taking another bite of his food.
The thing is, Yuta had always been a romantic and sensitive person.
Maybe he cried all three times he saw Your Name with Jaehyun when they scheduled to watch a movie together, and ended up being comforted in the youngest's arms.
Maybe he also cried when they watched Five Centimeters Per Second, and just maybe he ended up being hugged again by a warm Jaehyun under the covers.
And, of course, maybe the ban on movies involving dogs and their death (he can't even think without wanting to cry) was caused by a Yuta crying for two hours after Hachi: A Dog's Tale was over and Jaehyun couldn't bear to leave him alone and ended up sleeping with him that night — Jaehyun still heard some wails and a soft cry even after they were in bed.
Jaehyun even bought a pot of ice cream to leave with Yuta before going to class. Yuta remembers it because he woke up alone in bed, but with a note saying that there was breakfast and ice cream in the freezer in case he felt sad, "but you'll definitely will feel better with the ice cream, they didn't had your favorite, and I bought the oreo flavor, you said you wanted to try it".
Yuta almost started crying again.
And, as a romantic being, Yuta always saw love in everything and everyone. He believed it was the upbringing his parents gave him as a child, always telling him they loved him and always encouraging him to say the same to his sisters.
But when it came to relationships, Yuta had never been able to say "I love you" because he believed those three words should actually be true when said to another person.
Yuta never loved any of his partners?
It 's not that.
But for starters, it's good to remember that actually, Yuta didn't have so many relationships to say if he had really loved someone else.
Well, at least in his last relationship, right when he started college, Yuta thought this was the right guy. I found my charming prince , he thought at the time... but he found out later that he was being completely naive.
(Just to complete the gossip and not leave anyone curious, Yuta found out that the guy had actually been dating a girl for a few months now, and even though the girl knew about Yuta's existence she never cared about the situation. But when Yuta found out, the guy even had the ability to say it was all a lie, even though Yuta saw the two of them together, hands clasped like he did with Yuta. They broke up after a year and a half of dating and the guy soon moved in with the girl. Yuta never saw him again).
That was the first time Jaehyun had seen Yuta cry.
It was also the first time that Jaehyun hugged a crying Yuta all night until he could sleep while Yuta heard him say that "love will eventually come Yuta, you are an amazing person and you deserve nothing less than someone who loves you completely.”
After that, Yuta thanked a lot for never saying he loved that guy, because he realized that in fact, he never did. In the same way that he was never loved by that guy, the signs were always there, Yuta only realized after they broke up.
He never dated anyone after that.
Of course, he kissed a few mouths here and there, he was human too. Maybe he spent more than a kiss with some people, but whatever.
"Are you going to look for him?" Mark asked him when he was packing up to leave.
"I don't know… maybe… I don't want to get ahead of myself, but who knows, maybe he'll show up someday."
—
It's been more than a week since that party and it was a thursday. Yuta was at the office, and due to his senior year at college, he only had classes three times a week and that gave him the remainder of his time at work.
Was he still thinking about the guy who had marked his neck with lipstick?
Yup.
But of course, as a future professional in journalism, that couldn't interfere with his work environment, but none of that prevented it from directly affecting his mind that loved to create scenarios.
Yuta thought about what it would be like if they had gone to his house, if he hadn't been so drunk. Had they at least exchanged phone numbers?
"Nakamoto"
Yuta heard his boss call him from her office, waking up from his trance.
"May I help?" He said as he walked into his boss's office and closed the door behind him.
"How are you? You seem a little off today. Busy weekend?" She said as she typed something into her phone, motioning for him to sit in the chair in front of her desk.
"Oh, yes I'm fine, don't worry" He smiled and snuggled into his chair.
She puts her phone down on the table and leans over it crossing her arms in front of her, flashing Yuta a smile.
Yuta looked at the picture of her family on the table, her husband and her two daughters, they were so beautiful and the youngest a little girl of 5 years old, according to her mother, was completely in love with him, because he looked like someone straight out of the cartoons she used to watch.
The little girl whenever she came to the office was all shy around him, but Yuta loved children and tried to make conversation with her and soon she would let loose and would tell him stories about her school.
"Great. I have news for you, actually" She said.
Yuta arched his eyebrows.
"We want to hire you, definitively. You've been doing a great job and we'll be able to transfer you to the sports department, which I know is where you intend to pursue a career." She continued, "You'll have your own office and you can have flexible hours as we know you're in your final year of college and it can be tricky at times, but collectively, and I, not wanting to brag" she gave him a wink and sipped her coffee, "I spoke very highly of you and how we can't lose you.”
Yuta opened his mouth to speak, but he was so surprised that nothing came out.
"Serious?" Yuta asked in disbelief, but she nodded, "my God, but of course I want to!"
"You deserve Yuta, I am very happy that you wanted to continue with us and I will pass your answer to them and we will proceed with your hiring, I will give you the details tomorrow"
"Thank you so much, I can't thank you enough." He reached out to shake the hand she had spread across the table. "I am very grateful for your compliments"
"Like I said, you deserve it. I can see you building an amazing career"
When he left the room, the first thing he did when he got to his desk was text someone.
[10:45]
Yuta
you will not believe it !!!!
I was offered a spot! They wanted to hire me and I accepted!!!
THE BEST PART
THEY WILL TRANSFER ME TO THE SPORTS DEPARTMENT
Yuta was smiling so much that the corners of his mouth started to hurt.
At the same time he felt an enormous urge to cry at the thought of everything he had to go through to get there.
[10:47]
Jaehyun
oh my God
really?? 😲 😲
Yuta, this is wonderful, you deserve it! You've worked hard for it and you're finally being recognized.
I'm very happy for you! <3
[10:48]
Yuta
thank you :p
and you know what else? I WILL HAVE MY OWN OFFICE! 😜
Yuta would finally be able to decorate his own room. Maybe he would ask Ten for tips, he was always good with these things.
[10:49]
Jaehyun
Yu, this is incredible!
and the best part actually you forgot…
you won't need to listen to your colleague's gossip she spends all day telling her friends on the phone.
[10:49]
Yuta
fuck you hahaha
[10:50]
Jaehyun
😜
we have to celebrate
shall we have dinner tonight?
have you told the others?
No, Yuta hadn't told anyone yet because Jaehyun was the first person that came to his mind.
[10:51]
Yuta
not yet
I'll tell you when we're all together tonight
in the usual place?
—
"Yuta but it's true, you always tell how she talks loud enough that even your boss listens from the office sometimes" Jaehyun was telling him about the situation with his colleague who had no idea how loud she was talking on the phone. "Not to mention that time she started talking about the night she spent with a guy clearly for you to hear" he chuckled.
"Shut up, Jaehyun" Yuta slapped his arm and they both started laughing.
The two arrived at the restaurant first. In fact, Jaehyun was already there when Yuta arrived because it was closer to the record store where Jaehyun worked part-time.
As usual, Jaehyun had a smile on his face as he spotted Yuta at the entrance and waved at him.
In the light of the restaurant, with a denim jacket over a black T-shirt and the longer-than-normal hair Jaehyun used to wear, he looked gorgeous. Hair mainly, Yuta secretly thought that his friend always looked better when he made his hair longer which left it with a few waves.
They were sitting opposite each other, already drinking some of the drink that Jaehyun had ordered while the others were arriving, even though Yuta said he didn't need to and that tomorrow they would still have classes and work, Jaehyun insisted and said that it was a reason to celebrate.
"So," Jaehyun started after taking a sip of his drink, "how's the search for the mystery guy who left a mark on your neck going?"
Yuta blushed at the memory and took his cell phone out of the bag that was on the seat next to him to show the photo to Jaehyun, they still hadn't met in person after the party.
"Jae, I didn't show you the picture!" Yuta spoke excitedly as he giggled while looking for the photo to show Jaehyun. "I was talking to Mark the other day, I can't explain Jaehyun, the guy was amazing and the feeling of being with him... it was like we'd known each other for a long time, and the kiss... was the best kiss I've ever had" he handed the phone to Jaehyun, who reached out to take it, the silver bracelet that Yuta gave Jaehyun for his birthday last year sparkled on his wrist when the light hit it, "and I'm not saying that because I was drunk.”
The screen showed the photo of the red lipstick kiss on the eldest neck.
Jaehyun was silent for a moment analyzing the photo.
"And you have no idea who it is?" He didn't sound very excited, but in the face of his own excitement, Yuta didn't notice this detail.
“No, I really don’t remember who he was” He took another sip of his drink. “But I definitely remember the kiss, should I just kiss a bunch of hot men with beautiful mouths to find him? Or ask them to apply lipstick and kiss a paper for me? Or my hand?”
Yuta took the phone back and put it on the table, he was talking so excitedly about it. Perhaps, that sounded like a story of finding your perfect match, something you usually find in romantic comedies.
Thinking about it that way, it was almost the perfect definition Yuta thought, simply because his own love life was a comedy.
"What are you two talking about?" Ten appeared joining Yuta's side, giving Jaehyun no chance to contribute the "brilliant ideas" that Nakamoto Yuta had just dropped.
Johnny and Mark right behind him, Johnny sitting next to Jaehyun and Mark next to him.
"Are you still trying to find the guy who kissed your neck?" Mark said.
"What?" Ten said in disbelief in a loud tone, some people in the place turned their heads to see what was happening, "why hasn't anyone told me anything about this? Yuta tells me this gossip now"
And Yuta briefly went over what happened at the party, while the waiter took everyone's order, showing the picture to him and Johnny who were still out of the story.
"So what are we celebrating today?" Ten asked when everyone had finished eating and was enjoying their drink.
"Yuta was hired" Jaehyun said.
"For real?" Johnny asked at almost the same time as Mark.
"Wait, really?" Mark said, almost choking on his drink and trying to hug Yuta across the table.
"Yes" he was embarrassed at all the attention on him and the other four congratulating him on his achievement, "and they're going to transfer me to the sports department, and I'm going to have my own office."
Ten turned to him.
"Sports?" He frowned, "why? Did you ask for it or did they just throw you in there?"
"I didn't ask for Ten, not directly, but I had commented to my boss that this was a field I intended to pursue a career in" Yuta said, he met Jaehyun's gaze from across the table who was looking at him intently.
Ten still didn't seem to believe it and still looked with the same gaze.
"What? Can't a gay guy like sports?" Yuta asked him.
Mark laughed and the others followed.
—
Later that night when he was already home, Yuta couldn't stop thinking about how quiet Jaehyun was.
Usually the two didn't shut up around each other and after Johnny arrived it was always a mess.
But not that day.
Jaehyun spent the entire dinner thoughtful, as if he had a lot on his mind, and Yuta was worried that maybe something was going on that he didn't want to talk to him about.
When he was already in bed, after finishing his skin care, he decided to call him.
After ringing twice, Jaehyun answered.
"Hey"
"Hey... were you already asleep?"
"No, I was in the shower"
He was probably still with the towel around his waist, the drops of water that were dripping from his hair would probably be running down his body...
Focus Yuta , you've seen this once, no need to imagine, he's your friend, for God's sake.
"Oh...okay" for a minute he even forgot why he called, "I just wanted to check if everything is ok? You looked a little sad today."
Jaehyun was silent for a minute and Yuta could only hear his breathing.
"Yeah, no need to worry Yu, I'm just a little tired," he said, and indeed his voice sounded a little tired.
But Yuta was not convinced.
"You know you can tell me anything, right? We're friends."
"Yes, I know" even without seeing it, Yuta could feel that he now had a smile on his face like he always did when Yuta spoke to him in an older person tone.
"I'll let you sleep, I know you need to be up early, and we need to see what movie this week we're going to watch"
"I have some that we had put on the list, I'll send you later"
"Okay then, I'll wait. Good night, Jaehyun."
"Good night, Yuta"
