Alyssa got therapy. James was patient. Now they found themselves together in a motel, an occurrence which wasn't new by this point.
"Are we going to have sex?" Alyssa asked bluntly. James wasn't sure he'd ever get used to how direct she was, but he appreciated it about her. She didn't leave anything unsaid. Didn't expect him to read her mind.
"Do you want to?" James asked her instead of answering the question. She typically led these sorts of situations and conversations. And it's not like he didn't like her or was repulsed by the idea of intercourse or anything. He was just... Very neutral on it. He'd do it if she wanted to (which probably wasn't the healthiest thing, but it was far from the only issue between the two of them), but wasn't gonna initiate on his own.
To his surprise, Alyssa frowned at this. "James, you know I'm sort of a nymphomaniac but you don't..." she trailed off, looking for the words. "If you don't want to, you don't have to" she told him with finality. "I know I've been kind of pressure-y with this in the past, but you can say no and I'm not gonna give you a hard time for it"
"I'm not repulsed by the idea of it" James clarified. "I just don't really... Want to, either" he explained. "But if you want to, we can"
Alyssa sighed, sitting next to him on the bed. She gave him a small kiss on the cheek. He didn't give any sort of response but a small smile did grace his face. "I'd only want to do it if you did as well" she told him. "It's fine if you're asexual or something" she continued. "If that is the case, I think there are probably more conversations to have about it, but we don't need to do anything that you don't want to"
"Thank you"
"...Do you want to find a film?"
"Okay"
