As sweet at the embrace of their lips was, Tommy pulled back, clearly still emotionally disturbed. Wilbur watched him, a frown settling on his face as he watched the blond think himself into oblivion. He gave him one more quick kiss before attempting to calm him down.
"You know you don't have to tell them love" he practically purred, nuzzling into the crook of his boyfriend's neck. Of course he wanted Tommy to be able to come out to his family, with how often they saw them it would save a lot of hassle hiding it. But he would also never pressure him to say it, knowing full well he was only comfortably out to a few people. Hell his parents didn't even know he was gay let alone in a long term relationship.
"I know.. I really do know that but the longer I hide it the worse it's gonna go when we do tell them.. Right" he immediately grabbed onto Wilburs hand, looking for some support. Wilbur hummed against his skin before giving a small nod.
"Probably" he admitted. "But on the other hand we've hid it for 3 years already" he mumbled, kissing his shoulder to provide some comfort. Tommy sighed, tilting his head back slightly and watching the ceiling.
"I could just lie about the timeline" he pointed out, making his boyfriend give a slight eye roll.
"That's a terrible idea Tommy, They probably wouldn't believe you anyway" he snorted. Tommy raised a brow, leaning his head on Wilbur's.
"What's that supposed to mean?" He asked, close to offended but not quite.
"That we moved in together years ago, have both never dated anyone else to their knowledge and spend all our time together. They probably suspect it already, so if you do say something there is no way they would believe it's a new development" Tommy gave a pleased hum at the answer.
"For a second I thought you were implying that I'm not a master of deception" he chuckled.
"Well there's that too" Wilbur added quickly, laughing as the blond made an indignant noise out of annoyance. He wasn't sorry at all, because it was all too true. He had no impulse control and lacked the ability to lie his way out of the stupid shit he did. He was an idiot but he was Wilbur's idiot. Hell that's how they got together. Tommy was rambling and somehow Wilbur being attractive found its way into that ramble. And then when he backtracked he only made it worse. Or better in Wilburs humble opinion.
"You're mean" Tommy accused, pulling away from Wilbur so he could fully turn to face the man. The elder pouted, immediately sliding his arms back around his lover and engulfing him in a comfortable warmth.
"You love it" he pointed out, making Tommy sigh and slowly nod. He loved everything about Wilbur, and he could be just as mean back if he wanted to. "Now come on. Your mums gonna worry" he pointed out, releasing his hold and standing up. Tommy quickly got to his feet, stepping out of the empty tub and nodding.
"Yeah.. Sorry for freaking out" he chuckled. Wilbur only gave him a quick kiss and assured him it was perfectly ok and that he loved him. Tommy melted into the reassuring kiss, knowing how badly he wanted to be able to do this around his parents. As soon as the two reentered the living room his mother raised a brow.
"Thank goodness your back. Are you ok Tommy? I thought Wilbur was fishing your clumsy self out of the toilet for a second" she laughed, completely oblivious to the severity of Tommys dilemma. He looked over his mum, his dad and Wilbur, holding his breath slightly. Everything in him wanted to reach out and hold Wilburs hand, squeezing it for support.
"Im fine" he promised, stomach twisting into knots. He could feel it, the urge to say or do something stupid. He knew Wilbur was right and he should just let it happen but he had been fighting it for so long. His parents weren't even homophobic so he couldn't rationalize his insane phobia of telling telling them. It was all too complicated.
"You sure bud? You and Wilbur were in there a while?" His father pointed out. "If you two wanna smoke you don't have to hide it, your adults. You can just go out front" he added" making Wilbur snort slightly.
"We weren't smoking I swear. I mean Wilbur smokes but I never do because I'm quite particular about my health nowadays. And I remember everything you and mum told me about cigarettes. Wilbur and I were just making out in the tub because there's nothing really unhealthy about th..at." He paused as he realized what he had just said. Wilbur wanted to be sympathetic over Tommy basically traumatizing himself but he couldn't help the laughter that began slipping past his lips. He became an absolute mess of laughter, holding onto his boyfriend's shoulder for support as the blonde's parents just stared at them, blank faced.
"We umm.." Tommy stumbled slightly, throat suddenly dry. "We're dating," he said after a second or two of silence.
"Well" his mother started, looking between the two and snorting a little. "Yeah.. No shit sweetie" she laughed into her hand, shaking her head a bit at the two. His father raised a brow at them, settling down into his chair.
"Did you think we didn't know? You guys weren't subtle" he pointed out, making Tommy actually feel ready for the grave. He was glad they didnt care of course, but also completely lost on how he didnt know they somehow knew. Still, as Wilbur slipped a hand into his he couldn't really feel any negative emotions. Maybe the older man was right and he just had to let himself do shit like this.
He glanced at his boyfriend, not even giving himself a minute to think before leaning and kissing him. And impulse he could now happily let out.
