Chapter Text
“To the right just a bit” muttered Ponk, as stood by the door.
“Are you sure? This is where we started” asked Sam, lifting a brow.
“No, we started a few inches to the left” stated Ponk, shaking his head.
“Okay then” sighed Sam, before turning around.
Heleaned forward just a tad as he repositioned the hanging star from the ceiling for the tenth time today. The two of them have been putting the finishing touches on this room for a few days and they were considerably done, but Ponk was still fidgeting with a few things. Such as the star lantern they had found at a barging stall in town that Sam thought would be a fitting touch for the purpose of this room.
You see, Sam had been helping his friend Puffy with renovating her foster home when she got a new member. There had been a young couple who couldn’t care for their hybrid baby, so they were putting them into the adoption system. Puffy introduced Sam to the child and he instantly fell in love with them. Sam was already a father of four but one more couldn’t hurt.
He brought the idea of taking in another to Ponk, who was on the fence at the time, but quickly became attached when he saw the pictures of the child that Puffy provided. Sam got down to getting the legal work done while Ponk started clearing out one of their guest rooms for them. After a long wait, they were accepted to be the guardians of this baby.
They spent the next week or two getting supplies and putting it into the room. Which is how we reached the present situation. Sam climbed down the ladder and walked over to where Ponk was standing to look at his handy work. Ponk flipped the light off so they could see how bright the star shined. It had a blue tint to it and shed gentle light all around.
“Perfect” smiled Ponk, as he rested his head on Sam’s shoulder.
“Oh I can’t wait to bring him” cooed Sam, a purr rising in his throat.
“Calm down, it’s only tomorrow” laughed Ponk, as he patted the creeper man’s shoulder.
“Besides, you get the easy job of picking him up. I gotta break the news to the kids” he groaned.
“You didn’t tell?” questioned Sam, tilting his head.
“I did! I just needed to tell them that he’s coming tomorrow” defended Ponk.
“Ponkie” sighed Sam, worriedly.
“If I get chewed out by them, then I'm putting the blame on you” challenged Ponk, raising his head.
“Sure, sure. I’ll take responsibility ” smirked Sam, rolling his eyes.
The white haired man huffed and turned away from the creeper man. Sam shook his head and placed a kiss on Ponk’s cheek.
“I’m going to bed. You can join me if you want or finish up things in here” said Sam, as he started making his way down the hall.
“Oi! I’m coming too” exclaimed Ponk, as he followed his partner.
Sam chuckled to himself as gently pumped Ponk with his hip, getting a bump in return.
~~~
“Okay, I can do this” breathed Ponk, as he paced in the kitchen.
“I just gotta tell them they are gonna have to learn to share, again” he muttered, as he leaned against the counter.
It was currently morning and Sam had just left to pick up their new addition to the family. It was the summer time so the kids weren’t going to be downstairs hopefully for another hour or two. Which was almost enough time to write himself a speech so he doesn’t get jumped by some kids. He grabbed a writing pad from the kitchen draw and started scribbling words on it from a pen he found. As he started writing, Ponk felt a nudge at his leg. He nearly jumped out of the skin but fortunately it wasn’t one of the kids. Instead it was Fran, the family dog. She was pawing at Ponk’s leg with her food bowl in her mouth.
“It’s just Fran. Guess me & Sam were kinda busy with morning” sighed the white haired man, pressing his hand against his chest.
“Sam put you on that new diet, but I don’t feel like getting all the ingredients out. So you’ll just have to eat normal dog food” he muttered, as he walked over to the pantry.
Ponk looked around before grabbing a large blue bag from the bottom shelf and cradled it in his arms to take it across the kitchen. It was a pretty heavy bag but he joked to himself that it was practice for when he would have to carry around the new baby, even though a baby might be lighter than a bag of dog food.
Fran lowered her bowl back to its rightful place as Ponk squatted down to her level. He pulled the little hole wider before pouring the food into the bowl. The sound of the pellets crumbling into the steel bowl made a small echo, which of course made Fran excited. Her tail was beating against the wall as she waited for Ponk to finish.
“And there you go! Enjoy your breakfast” nodded Ponk, as he tipped the bag upwards to stop the flow.
Without hesitation, the cream colored canine started crunching. Ponk chuckled before ruffling Fran’s fur with his free hand. He slowly stood his feet and straightened himself as he started to walk toward the counter.
“Morning Ponk” exclaimed a high pitched voice, scaring the hell out of Ponk.
He yelped and whipped around, dropping the bag of food in the process. He searched for the source of the voice until he spotted a small messy haired brunet girl sitting at the island as she fiddled with a rose scrunchie.
“Hannah! You are awake, really early” remarked Ponk, nervously.
“Well yeah, I don’t sleep all day like George does” Hannah hummed.
“Fair, but I didn’t hear you come” sighed Ponk, as he looked down at the mess from the dog food.
“I have my christmas slippers on” stated Hannah, proudly.
“But it’s not Christmas,” said Ponk, lifting a brow.
“Lemme me have my christmas in july” Hannah huffed, tossing her head back
“It’s not even in july” Ponk muttered, before starting to clean the dog food up.
“Anyways, why are you up so early? You said you didn’t have work this week” asked Hannah.
“Um, I was going to work on some chores while Sam was gone,” said Ponk, slowly.
“Are you lying?” questioned Hannah, squinting at the white haired man.
“No?” hummed Ponk, as he stood up with the dog food once again.
“You are being a pathological liar right now” stated Hannah.
“Heh? Where the hell did you get that from?” exclaimed Ponk, taken aback.
“From the crime shows that Mr. Bad watches” informed Hannah, her small wings fluttering.
“And I thought he was supposed to be a good influencer” sighed Ponk, shaking his head.
“But no Hannah, I’m not a pathological liar. Do you even know what a pathological liar is?” he asked, as he put the dog food away.
“A person who lies, alot” nodded Hannah.
“Do I lie a lot?” inquired Ponk, crossing his arms
“I-, well no. I don’t think so” Hannah hummed, as she looked down at her scrunchie.
“Then I’m not one” Ponk shrugged, as he walked over to refrigerator.
“Well, you sounded guilty of something” accused Hannah, pointing at the white haired man.
“Who’s guilty?” questioned a new voice, catching both Ponk & Hannah’s attention.
A small white haired boy in a frog onesie walked into the kitchen as he rubbed his eyes. He jumped into the stool chair beside Hannah and rested his head on his arms.
“Good Morning, Boomer” greeted Hannah, as she pressed her face against the white haired boy’s.
“Mornin’ ” muttered Boomer, returning the affection.
“Morning, Boomer. I’m surprised you are awake too” waved Ponk, as he pulled a milk carton out the fridge.
“Made a bet with Quackity yesterday. Whoever woke up first had fair dibs on the tv” Boomer replied, as he stretched out his arms.
“Testing your luck, I see” smirked Ponk, grabbing cereal from the pantry.
Boomer nodded and watched as the white haired man poured cereal into separate bowls. Ponk handed two to the kids before retrieving spoons from the draw. Both of the kids thanked him before sliding off the table and headed into the living room. Ponk sighed as picked up his own bowl of cereal to follow after them. Boomer had already switched on the television and started flipping through channels. Hannah was sitting beside him but was more focused on her cereal. Ponk flopped onto the couch with his feet resting under him. The sound of a jingly tag sounded before weight dropped into the white haired man’s legs. Fran had jumped onto the couch and claimed her place beside him. Ponk sighed and ruffled her fur before eating his cereal.
~~~
“I WON FAIR, DON’T BE A SOUR LOSER!!” shouted Boomer, as he chased a duck boy around the couch.
“VETE A LA MIERDA, CHICO RANA!!” exclaimed Quackity, as he stuck his tongue out.
Ponk sighed as he stood in the kitchen archway with a coffee cup. He had little memory of how things escalated so quickly. One moment, he’s watching cartoons with the kids and having a peaceful time, then the next, those said kids are going off the rains. Boomer & Quackity start arguing, Hannah keeps trying to integrate Ponk with random questions from tv, and George is randomly making sounds amongst the chaos. With the television at max volume and the kids chattering and screaming, Ponk just couldn’t think properly. Sam had given him one job and he couldn’t remember what said job was. He just wanted to go back to bed but who was going to watch the chaos-makers. The last time they were left unattended, the fire department had to be called twice. He’d just stick it out until Sam got home with the baby.
Oh shit!
That’s what he was supposed to do.
“EVERYONE SHUT UP!!” shouted Ponk, as he slammed his mug on the counter.
All the kids seemed to freeze in a moment causing the room to fall to complete silence, with the exception of the television. Ponk didn’t yell much but he needed to get this over with before Sam got home.
“Quackity, hand me the remote” demanded Ponk, holding out his hand.
“Eh? Why?” asked Quackity, defensly.
“You either hand to me now or no one gets to watch tv for the rest of the day” threated Ponk, narrowing his eyes.
The duck hybrid fluffed his wings annoyedly but handed the remote over to the white haired man. Ponk turned down the volume before turning it completely. There was a union of groans but silence again when Ponk turned back to them.
I need everyone to sit on the couch because I have something important to say” informed Ponk, as he placed the remote on the top shelf above the tv.
The kids exchanged glances with each other, obviously confused, but walked over to climb on the sofa. Boomer and Quackity sat far from each other, making George and Hannah take the middle spot. They all looked attentively up at Ponk, seemingly awaiting for him to start speaking again.
“First off, it is too early for you all to be going crazy and doing ridiculous things. Just because your dad has been gone for three hours doesn’t mean you all go off and lose all sense of discipline. There are four of you, soon to be five, and you guys don’t understand how much of a handful you guys are. So please just play it cool for today and maybe tomorrow since we have someone new joining the family” stated Ponk, as he rubbed his temple.
“Someone new?” parroted George, perking up.
“Yes. A few months ago, your father offered to adopt another child. He is much much younger than all of you and very different. The reason Sam has been gone for so long is that he has to get the final legal documents and pick them up” nodded Ponk, crossing his arms.
“I was meant to tell all of you last week but I forgot since me and Sam were busy decorating your siblings room. Which means, none of you have to share a room with them. That doesn’t mean you aren’t going to have to share a living space. This new kid is going to be your new younger sibling and must be treated with care” he added.
“Why, though, are we not enough for dad?” asked Quackity.
“You are it’s just-” started Ponk, but things started going the direction he didn’t want to.
“This is one of his schemes!!” exclaimed Hannah, her wings springing outwards.
“You are trying to steal dad from us again!!” challenged Boomer, narrowing his gaze.
“Again?” remarked Ponk, but his voice was ignored.
“Getting a new kid means you are trying to replace us in our dad’s life” shouted Quackity, standing to his feet.
“Well we aren’t gonna let that happen” hissed Hannah.
“CHARGED!!” yelled Boomer, standing on the couch.
The three kids ran at Ponk with full speed. They were only kids but they were terrifying at most so the white haired man did the only thing he could do.
Run.
It was a ridiculous choice but he didn’t want to hurt them so he ran. A grown ass man running from a squad of hybrid rugrats in the house, what a sight it must be. They were strangely tactical for being under the age of twelve. Boomer & Hannag were jumping over the chairs while Quackity & George tried to go for his legs to weigh him down. He knew Sam had some mediocre fighting skills but where the hell did his kids learn this shit.
Then all at once, as Ponk rounded behind the couch, both of his legs were latched on to and he took a blow to the back of his knees. This was the move that literally brought him to the floor as Hannah & Boomer pinned him completely. He was sprawled on the floor as the four kids dogpile atop of him as they muttered insults. He genuinely couldn’t move and was out of breath. This was the most humiliating situation to be in but it was in the safety of his own home so no one could see him in shame.
Suddenly, the sound of a door opening caused everyone to freeze instantly. It closed softly as a familiar voice rang through the living room.
“I’m back!!” called Sam, as he sat some bags onto the couch.
“Back here” exhaled Ponk, his voice coming out strangled.
He watched as the creeper man’s shoes appeared right around the corner of the couch as he glanced up. Sam had a surprised look on his face before it scrunched up as he tried to hide his laugh.
“Kids?” hummed Sam, lifting a playfully brow.
Swiftly, all four of the children rolled off of Ponk and stood to their feet. The white haired man let out a shake breath as he rolled onto his back.
“Thank you” sighed Ponk, as he sat up slowly.
“No problem, Ponkie” smiled Sam, as he offered a free hand towards him.
Ponk accepted it but also noticed something in Sam’s opposite hand. Cradled into his arm was a light blonde baby with the brightest blue eyes that Ponk has ever seen. The white haired man felt like he was going to melt just at the sight of seeing the small child once.
“Primes, I’m never gonna get over how adorable he is” cooed Ponk, raising his hand towards the infant.
“Yeah. Puffy helped do some baby clothes shopping since that was one of the things we forgot to do” nodded Sam, as he passed the blonde over to Ponk.
Ponk complete forgot about how upset he was as soon as he had the small boy in his arms. He gently held the blonde’s hands, which could wrap around his entire index finger. The boy babbled in response and pressed his face into Ponk's shoulder. He was going to cry, oh my primes, Ponk was gonna cry. It was only when he noticed the confused and curious glances from the kids who seemed to be standing just a bit away. Sam cleared his throat awkwardly before speaking.
“Would guys like to meet your new sibling?” he asked.
There was a slowly nodding in response before everyone walked around to the front of the couch. Sam sat straight up while Ponk leaned back since he had the baby. The other four kids just seemed to stand beside their dad, just on the side without Ponk.
“Boomer, Quackity, Hannah, and George. This is your new baby brother, Thomas, or just Tommy. He is the newest member in our family” spoke Sam, as he gestured to the blonde.
“He’s so small,” commented Boomer, fixing the hood of his onesie.
“He reminds me of daffodils,” exclaimed Hannah, her eyes lighting up.
“¿Crees que sabe español?” chirped Quackity, his wings fluttering.
“Why is he here?” asked George, still very confused.
“Well, he is pretty young to be in the adoption system since his biological family couldn’t take care of him. So, I thought it would be best to give Tommy the opportunity of having a family without his familiar future being placed in the hands of the system as he grows” explained Sam, as ruffled the heterochromia boy’s hair.
“Can I hold him!!” asked Quackity.
“No, I wanna too! I’m the oldest” called Boomer.
“I should, I’m the gentlest out of everyone” challenged Hannah.
“That’s a lie” scoffed Boomer.
“Do you wanna go?” hissed Hannah.
“Maybe I do” huffed Boomer, puffing his chest out.
“Alright you two, enough. Ponk & I need to get Tommy settled into his new room and then I need peace & quiet for the rest of the afternoon” scolded Sam.
The three of kids whined just a bit before stepping back to let the adults get to their feet and towards the stairs. As they went up, the kids followed after them but went their separate ways to their room. Once in what was now Tommy’s room, Sam sparked up light conversation while putting the baby clothes away.
“I’m guessing the conversation with them hadn’t gone great?” inquired Sam.
“I mean, it was fated to go south when I brought it up but I was already at the end of my wits with them this morning. I love all of them but my god, they are a handful and half” breathed Ponk, as rubbed his head.
“Plus I don’t think coffee helped with the growing headache,” he added.
“You could have called me if you needed help, they are our kids” stated Sam.
“Exactly, ‘our’ kids. They are as much as my kids as they are yours. Sure, none of them see eye to eye with me or over the fact I might be trying to steal them from you, but I still love them and want to be a good role model in their lives. It’s just kind of hard since I haven’t had proper experiences with kids, let alone kids that are considered my responsibility. I was a counselor for a year at a summer camp for a summer job but those kids already had someone else they liked and would rather be with them” rambled Ponk, as he placed Tommy into the crib along the wall.
“I just feel as if I’m out of place and unwanted, even with all the work I put in to try to make things work with them and you. I love you, Sam, but I don’t want to become an issue for you and your kids if they don’t want me around” he sighed, resting his hand on his hand.
“Oh, Ponk. I don’t think you are an issue for me or them at all. The kids have always been rough around the edges since all four of them had experience with rough homes before I got a hold of them. It took them a while to get used to me individually, hell, even each other” remarked Sam, turning to face the white haired man.
“Boomer & Quackity bicker with each other all the time but, when they aren’t, you could never tell that they didn’t love & appreciate each other. Hannah is the only girl in the family but we don’t treat her like she's a delicate and special figure. She gets the same love and treatment as everyone, with the exception of her having her own room. Besides, it takes time for them to get used to other people. Especially now that we have Tommy in the family. They are excited but also unsure about him, which was how they were with you” he added, as walked over to Ponk.
“Yeay, but Tommy is a baby and I’m a grown ass man. They are going to act very differently” huffed Ponk, crossing his arms.
“Maybe or maybe not. I just want to let you know that you are wanted and loved very much here. Particularly, by me” hummed Sam, as he started peppering kisses onto Ponk’s face.
“Ack, Sam” yelped the white haired man, becoming flustered & giddy.
“Awe, what’s wrong Ponkie? Is my love too much for you?’ joked Sam, as he pulled the Ponk closer to him.
“Heh? N-no, you took me by surprise” stuttered Ponk, trying to cover his face.
The creeper man smiled smugly as he placed final smooch on Ponk’s forehead before resting his head atop of his
“Anywho, I have some paperwork to do and redstone mapping to do” sighs Sam, leaning into his partner.
“You should get to that” muttered Ponk, as he pressed his face into Sam’s shirt.
“What if I don’t want to?” questioned Sam.
“Then we can come sit on the floor and chill out here. Really can’t leave our new son unattended” suggested Ponk.
Sounds good to me” smiled Sam, as he leaned back.
Ponk stepped back a bit so he could make his way over to the crib. Tommy was leaning against the side of it as he was entertained by the blanket before making little noises as Ponk scooped him into his arms. Sam grabbed one of the toys from the little box and laid on his back on the soft rug. Ponk crouched down to lay beside the creeper man, placing the small blonde in the middle. And that's how the two men spent their day until lunch hours, just laying on floor of their new son’s room entertaining him
