Work Text:
He wishes Mike knew how much he loves him. He loves him. He adores him.
Will would sacrifice himself for the dumb boy. The stupid, stupid boy who hasn’t even acknowledged his presence since he arrived. The same boy who yelled at him for being honest.
El- Jane may say friends don’t lie, but even she isn’t perfect.
Will wonders why it’s his fault. Had he done something to deserve the shouting match? Had he poked and wriggled too far into a subject he shouldn’t’ve?
He misses the days when he was Mike's world. He feels as if he's a star that had lost all of its planets, which somehow drifted from his orbit. Mike was his favorite planet.
Lights flashing like he’s at a rave, was Will really the bad guy? His legs ache where he stands, unable to skate anywhere but away from Mike.
He should help in finding Jane, but he feels the last part of his inner child break and scatter; The little pieces he had glued together to salvage his innocence are gone.
He’d lost everything, and it all had gone unnoticed. He’s the last on anyones mind. It’s the most unpleasant feeling, one that fills Will to the brim. It teeters and spills, and he feels hot tears burn his cheeks.
He sniffles as he skates into the boys restroom, fumbling with a stall door before collapsing onto a toilet. He scrambles to wipe his tears; He was the problem. Mike only wanted things to be good, to have a nice time, and Will ruined it. It’s his fault.
Will has no idea how much time passes, but he shivers as tears roll down his face and plop to the floor. He’s stupid. El has gone through worse than he has, Jane is the one who deserves comforting, not him. His role is to be the third wheel.
But.
No matter how much he tries to convince himself, Will grows upset. It wasn’t his fault, wasn’t it? He was right, how would he know what Mike knew? It wasn’t his job to report every detail of Jane's life to him.
With that, Will sits up. He wipes his dampened face before unlocking the stall, and rolls out of the bathroom having made up his mind.
He’s treated like shit by his friends, and he doesn’t deserve it. They don’t deserve his tears, not even Mike.
Mike was the asshole, and Will loves him to death, but he’s going to stand up for himself for once; Stand his ground.
Will finds the uninterested Mike searching for El, clueless to Will’s absence. Will bitterly chuckles to himself, beginning to help in the search for El.
He’s going to be a better person than Mike has been in the past two years. He’s going to put forth all of his effort, and not wallow in self-pity like Mike does. Will is the better person, and he’s going to prove it.
