Rainy Days, Living in Paradise

The sun peaked its way as best as it could through the small gaps in the black out curtains causing everyone's favorite hero to stir.
"Mmm five more minute," Sonic groaned, rolling over to his stomach and shoving his head under the pillow. The bedroom door creaked open and owner of said bedroom poked his head in.
"You up?" Shadow asked. The other curled up tighter and gave out a muffle no.
"Fine. You don't get breakfast then."
"Breakfast?!" Sonic said excitedly, trying to detangle himself out of the blankets, "What's for breakfast?" The hybrid gave a smirk.
"Well you have to get up and come to the kitchen to find out," he teased as he walked out of the bedroom.

French Toast had been on the menu for breakfast this morning and Sonic couldn't have any more happier about it. He had learned from his first night here that Shadow was excellent in the kitchen.
"This is sooo good! Thanks Shads!" Sonic exclaimed, shoving the last pieces into his mouth.
"You know it's rude to talk with your mouth full," Shadow told him, "but thank you for the complement."
Before Sonic could rebuttal with a snarky comment , Shadow's phone started to buzz on the counter. They leaned over to see Rouge's name flash up on it.
"Oh this should be fun," Shadow thought as he grabbed his phone. He sighed trying to recollect his thoughts before answering.
"What?"
"Well hi to you too," Rouge answered back with a laugh, "I was just calling you that Team Dark is on vacation!"
"Vacation?" Shadow repeated. Sonic turned to look over at his partner to see what was wrong.
"Yup! They can't get the parts they need for Omega for at least a week and you know Towers will use everyone else for a mission than letting us two do it alone. So, time off for us!"
"But...what am I suppose to do?" he asked in confusion. He had never had time off before.
"Well...I know someone you CAN do..."
"What's that? I can't hear you. I'll talk to in a week," Shadow said and quickly hung up his phone, his face deep red in colour as he jump off the couch the two were currently at and walked back into the bedroom.
Sonic, on the other hand was extremely confused one what had just transpired between the two on the phone. He followed the other to the bedroom and leaned up against the doorframe. The other was face first into the bed, screaming internally.
"...bad call?" the Blue Blur joked, watching the Lifeform tense up and groan into the bed. He rolled over and the other came and sat down with him.
"GUN can't get the parts for Omega to fix him for at least a week, so the other two members of Team Dark get to take time off."
"Well that's great! You guys deserve time off!"
"I've never had time off," Shadow sighed, "I don't know what I'm going to do with myself."
"Well what did Rouge say do?" Sonic asked. Shadow smirked and raised an eyebrow.
"You."
Shadow swore if Sonic's face could any more red, he swore he could pass as the echidna.
"WHAT?!" He squeaked causing Shadow to laugh, "I mean...y-yeah that's a valid option but I-I don't know if I'm ready for THAT yet. Not saying that I don't want do that with you, because yeah I would love to, but I don't know...it's just---WAH!"
"You're rambling, " Shadow told him as he pulled the hero down on top of him, "I'm not ready for it yet either. We'll know when the time is right for the both of us."
They laid in silence until a slight buzz came from the blue one's quills. He rummaged through them to grab his phone.
T-- Don't know where you got off to but I got accepted to go to a conference with Professor Pickle for
the week. Don't get into too much trouble while I'm gone.
S-- Way to go dude! See you in a week!
Sonic put his phone on the night stand and sighed happily and looked over at the other.
"You care if I crash here for the week?" he asked, "Tails is going to a science conference with Professor Pickle and I tend to have less nightmares when I'm with you." He made sure to add the nightmares as a shoe in to stay. He watched the black and red hedgehog go into deep thought and then turn to him with a small genuine smile that made Sonic's heart skip a beat.
"Well I already had nothing planned for the week but I guess I can do nothing with you."

Their day of nothing became a morning of plans to go to the beach for later in the week. The two did plan for today later in the afternoon but Mother Nature had a different plans in mind.
"I despise rain, " Sonic uttered in disgust as he watched the water run down the windowpane, "Like I hated rain before...but after everything that happened...now it's just made it worse."
Shadow watched the hero shudder at that thought. He turned away from the window and walked quickly over to the couch and sat down beside him with a huff.
"Try not think about it," he told him and glanced back down to the book he was currently reading.
"What are you even reading anyways?"
"Hm? Oh, just some old poems and such," He said with a sigh. The book was looking worn from age and use, as it was one he and Maria frequently read when she had her bad days with her sickness. Her name was still scribbled down in the front cover though it was hard to make out.
"...can you read me some?" Sonic asked. Shadow smiled and lifted his arm with the book up so Sonic could come and snuggle in close. He grabbed the blanket that was lazily laying on the back of the couch and threw it over top of them. Sonic listened as Shadow read, his eyes growing heavy and slowly closing.

Neither hedgehog knew when the both fell asleep but a loud rumble of thunder rang through the apartment and startled the both of them awake.
"What was that?" Shadow asked as he sat up alarmed, crimson eyes scanning the room for anything, arms pulling the blue hedgehog closer wanting to protect him.
"I think it was just a loud thunder clap," Sonic told him, trying his wriggle free from the others tight grasp, "Shads you're squishing me."
"Huh? Oh, sorry." His mind was racing a mile a minute that he hadn't notice that he had done that. Once free, Sonic grabbed the hybrid's shoulders.
"Shadow, are you okay?"
Shadow opened his mouth to say something but quickly closed when another loud rumble rang through.
"I'm not particularly fond of the sound," Shadow finally managed to say as the thunder stopped. The sound reminded him of the raid on the ARK.
"Yeah I hear you on that one," Sonic agreed, "They sound like explosions from everything that's happened in the last little bit." A flash danced across the sky.
"Lightening is fun to watch though."
"Of course you would have a fascination of the thing that can kill you."
Sonic snickered over how deadpan the Ultimate Lifeform's voice could get. Another crack caused both hedgehogs to wince.
"I know a way to distract ourselves," Sonic said, eyes never leaving the other.
"How?" Shadow asked. He quickly got his answer when peach lips took his own.
That would work.
Though Sonic may have been the one to start this distraction, he soon found himself on the losing end of this battle and was okay by it. He felt the other's teeth nip at his bottom lip causing him to gasp and allowing the other enough time to invade his mouth with his tongue. The sensation was nothing that Sonic had felt before and he was loving every second of the feeling of Shadow's tongue exploring him. Waves of pleasure ran through his body as the hybrid's hands ran down his spine as he shifted the blue speedster around so that he was underneath him.
As they parted, Sonic let a small whimper out that he was trying to suppress inside himself. Ruby eyes locked in what felt like a staring contest with the emerald greens of the other, both trying to figure out something to say to let the other know how they felt.
"Holy shit dude," Sonic finally blurted out causing the other on top of him to laugh.
"You? Swearing? The world must be ending," Shadow said in between laughs.
"Well you make me feel that good," Sonic laughed out too. The two sat there trying to calm themselves down. Another crack of thunder roared causing the two to jump and being reminded that the storm was still there.
"Do we want to continue this in the bedroom," Shadow asked with a smirk.
"Absolutely," Sonic said. He grabbed Shadow's hand and the two went off.
