Chapter Text

 Once there were Dragons.

Huge Dragons as big as a great blue whale, and little Dragons as small as dogs, or even cats! Yes, that's right, they existed. I was never around to see those magnificent creatures though. All I had were the descriptions my best friend provided me with. And trust me, she's an expert.

When I say that I never had the privilege of chance to see a Dragon, I mean that no-one ever did. In the 15th century they just, disappeared without a trace. No-one saw, or heard, anything about Dragons for a very long time.

Until the 19th century, of course.

Suddenly, across America, attacks were imminent upon almost every town. At first, no-one could describe the attackers. They were far too fast, and no-one ever really survived to ever tell the tale of what they saw.

Eventually someone caught one though. And upon closer inspection it was found that the attackers were sort of...inhuman.

They looked human, but had certain defining features that made them extremely different. Instead of pupils, they had slits for eyes, almost like a cats, and they were often an odd colour, like purple. Their fingernails and toenails were sharp talons, and their teeth were sharpened to a point. Oh, and they had wings too.

It was quite obvious that they were part Dragon, but no-one wanted to call them that because, well, they weren't. So the name Dragonblood was given to them. If only giving them a name would have helped stop the attacks.

No, instead they worsened.

And with how quickly the Dragonbloods had come, it was almost impossible to quickly build a proper defence against them. All they could do was use what they had.

And that was how the war began.

I would tell you more but, well, this is the prologue. I don't want you to put this book down because you've been given the whole story here.

As my friend Allison would say: allons-y!
