Neil is used to the perpetual feeling of dread like a bruise in his gut, the impending feeling of doom at the slow glide of a door creaking open, or the heavy fall of footsteps on the stairs. From a very young age, Neil has taught himself to disappear. At the flip of a switch, he can be whoever he needs to be to survive.
