Work Text:

The tears were already falling down Luka’s cheeks as he rushed to unlock the door to Monty’s room. He knew that he wouldn’t be in there, he had a show right now. But he was willing to wait until he could see him. Luka’s day had just been way too frustrating, and of course, once the technical end of his shift comes along, all the feelings come pouring out at a ridiculous rate.

All Luka even wanted right now was to see Monty. He would have to wait maybe 10 or 15 more minutes. Just keep it together until he can get here. He’d already sent a message to Monty letting him know that he’d been in the room when he got back.

Luka threw himself onto the green couch, trying to take deep breaths, it'll all be okay soon. He’d tried to distract himself with his phone but that just wasn’t helping, and he frustratedly tossed it onto the couch beside him. He took one last deep breath, closing his eyes tightly. And then the door opened.

“Got here as fast as I could. What’s wrong chéri?” Monty rushed into the room and over to the couch. He carefully sat down on the couch next to Luka, taking his hands into his own, much bigger hands. Luka squeezed his hands, trying to keep himself from crying again.

“It’s my mom again. God, I wish she would just leave me alone!” Luka exclaims, avoiding eye contact, instead opting for staring at his hands connected with Monty’s. He took another shaky deep breath.

“What’s goin’ on this time?” Monty asks, cautiously.

“She’s trying to make me feel bad about leaving. Again. ” Luka sighs. “Why doesn’t she get it. I left because of her. And I regret nothing! My life has been amazing since I left! I mean, look at me,” He finally picks up his head and his eyes meet Monty’s. The soft fuschia has become a more soothing color than Luka thought. “I’ve made a ton of new friends here, not to mention I’m able to support myself with a job I love!” Luka finishes, frustratedly.

Monty takes one of his hands back and places it on the side of Luka’s face, who doesn’t hesitate to lean into the warm touch. “Ya know she’s just tryin’ to make ya feel bad. She knows that she’s a bad person and jus’ wants someone to take it out on. It’s not your fault and ya don’t owe her anything. I’m so proud of ya for not letting her get to ya.” Monty says softly. He squeezes Luka’s hand to ensure his point.

Luka throws himself into a tight hug with Monty. The two sit like that for a while, Luka enjoying the comforting presence of his boyfriend. Silence fills the room as Luka takes the time to calm down.

“Thank you, Monty. I don’t know what I would do without you.” Luka says, voice muffled by the soft silicone of Monty’s chest. Monty just lightly hums, chest rumbling against Luka’s face. Luka laughs and looks up into Monty’s eyes.

“I love you, Monty.” He says with a soft smile, and a tight squeeze to emphasize the point. Monty lets out a rumbly laugh,

“I love ya too, darlin’.”
