Work Text:
Adrien and Marinette had been together for about six months now. Gabriel Agreste being revealed as Hawkmoth had taken quite a toll on Adrien, he’d thought his father was only distant because of grief. Not because he was trying so desperately to revive his wife that he was willing to hurt and kill numerous people to do it, including his own son, although he hadn’t known Chat Noir and his son were one and the same. In that same night that Ladybug and Chat finally defeated him, they’d finally revealed their identities to each other. With Hawkmoth behind bars and six years of secrets, they couldn’t hide it from each other any longer. It had been a shock, but knowing sweet and loving Marinette was his strong loyal Lady made his heart swell with joy. Marinette finding out her punny, silly Chaton was kind and handsome Adrien Agreste was a little harder for her to grasp until she realized that Chat was likely the true personality he’d been forced to hide from his father. Truthfully, she found it quite endearing.
Marinette had provided him comfort in those dark couple of weeks, staying with him in the empty Agreste mansion to make sure he was fed, bathed and just generally kept company. She’d offered for him to live with him temporarily until he could find his own place, after he’d confided in her that being in this mansion knowing what had taken place there was too hard.
After two months of living together, Marinette finally told Adrien that she loved him. Adrien had been quite surprised, but after he thought back to their high school days when she would jumble her words so often around him, he realized maybe he’d just been oblivious. He thought about all the times he’d insisted Marinette was just a friend, all the nights spent thinking about Ladybug and who she really could be, and with the force of a freight train Adrien Agreste realized how dumb he’d been all these years.
“I love you too, Bugaboo.” He’d said, before pulling her into his arms and kissing her. Adrien had stopped looking for his own apartment after that.
Six months later, it was pouring down rain, crime rates were low, and the couple didn’t have a thing to be doing. Tikki and Plagg were snuggled up on the kitchen counter snacking on Camembert and macarons, leaving Adrien and Marinette in their PJ’s to watch anime. Adrien had roped Marinette into watching Sailor Moon with him, initially she’d thought she’d find it too cheesy. However, the enthusiasm in which Adrien enjoyed it with made her happy and she found she liked it a lot. The sound of rain on the roof was calming, the theme song for the show playing softly in the background as Adrien’s fingers ran gently through her hair. She was sprawled on her belly on top of Adrien, cheek resting on his chest as she watched the screen. She could hear the steady beating of his heart, the soft giggles from Plagg and Tikki as the Kwamis chatted. It was relaxing, and her eyes slowly grew heavy.
She found herself waking up sometime later to Adrien calling her name, dazed as she lifted her head from his chest to look at him. She could feel drool at the corner of her mouth, and as her cobalt eyes met Adrien's mischievous green, he laughed at her. She felt her cheeks grow hot, realizing she’d fallen asleep.
“Sleepy are we My Lady? You could have said so and we could have taken a nap.” He said, ruffling her hair affectionately. She pouted.
“No! I wanted to spend time with you, but I was so relaxed and work was so busy…” she sighed, noticing she’d drooled all over his shirt and immediately buried her face in her hands in embarrassment.
“It’s okay bugaboo, I don’t blame you. And don’t worry about the drool, it was kind of adorable to be honest.” He teased, resulting in a playful slap on his arm and she began to giggle.
“You think anything I do is adorable.” She said, round cheeks flushed pink, and Adrien swooned.
“That’s because it’s true, My Lady. Whether you’re laughing, fighting, pouting… beautiful, adorable, lovely Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you will always be stunning.” He said, voice soft and eyes dopey with affection. She squawked in protest, but at those big round green eyes, she relented.
“Alright Chaton, I’ll let you have your victory this time. My handsome silly kitty.” She giggled, leaning down to kiss his forehead. She smirked a bit as he let out a purr, something she hadn’t known he could do outside the suit until recently. She now took any opportunity to get that little rumble in his chest.
“And one day you’ll believe me without arguing.” He promised, pulling her down so he could wrap his arms firmly around her, that little purring motor rumbling softly in his chest. Marinette made a grumble in response but snuggled her face back into his neck, her eyelids already growing heavy again. With the patter of rain on the windows and Moonlight Densetsu playing softly in the background, the heroes of Paris fell into a peaceful slumber.
