Fox Mulder owns The Smoking Bean, a café themed after “the unknown”, conspiracy posters, alien latte art, cryptid cookie shapes. It’s half ridiculous, half charming, and he seems to be aware of it. Scully keeps telling herself she only goes because it’s on her way to work… not because she likes the way he says her name like a secret.
One evening, she stops by after a brutal shift. He’s closing up, playing soft music, shirt sleeves rolled up, wiping down counters. They end up talking, about exhaustion, faith, and the strange comfort of small rituals. A storm hits.
