James had never understood the phrase “falling in love”. For him, love was uplifting. It was what kept him going, what he carried with him in every crevice of his body. Love informed his every decision. It centred him and he drew strength from it. He’d grown up drenched in love, saturated in it. To James, love felt like flying, like soaring, like anything was possible. Love felt like coming home.
