Chapter Text
The sun beats down on his smoky gray wings as he flies through the sky, the wind flowing through his feathers and lifting him up even higher above the clouds. His hair whips back behind his face. Some beads his wife braided into tiny braids hit his skin, but he couldn’t care less.
He loves to just go around and fly, breathing the air and having it fill up his lungs. Being an avian and not flying is like not having legs to be able to walk around. So during the day when he has the time, only for a few hours, he’ll just go and fly around, stretch his wings and just enjoy the sunshine.
The best days are when it’s hot but there’s a simple breeze that helps cool him down. He can fly for hours in that weather, eyes closed and just using his other senses to guide him amongst the world. He’ll fly around mountains, duck under trees, soar above the ocean with his hand just grazing over the water, the droplets clinging onto him as he soars.
It’s peaceful, relaxful, and it's free.
He opens his blue eyes and glances around at the world below him. He sees an oak forest to his right with a village bustling around in it, villagers trading with each other and little kids climbing on the iron golem like he’s a jungle gym. To his left, there’s a vast ocean, a coral biome visible through the clear water. He sees dolphins jumping up, trying to reach him and he notices glow squids hiding under the unique branches of the coral of different colors.
He glances at the sun and sees it just starting to sink below the horizon line. That’s his cue to head home to his wife. He’s had his fun, finishing his daily chores then flying around for a bit, but nothing beats hanging out with his wife whom he loves dearly.
Not only that , but she’s been pregnant for months and the baby is due soon and while Phil knows it’s not going to be for a bit at least, he doesn’t want to miss it. So to make sure he doesn’t, he’s been taking shorter flights, still stretching out his wings, but heading back to check on his wife and help her periodically. Of course, she would get mad every time he stopped to go visit her, taking time out of his day to do things she normally would do. She would always complain to him and talk about how she’s the goddess of death and how she doesn’t need any help, but Phil would always do it anyway and she would always thank him afterwards. They're just that couple.
Besides, he wants to help her. She’s exerting all this energy to create and take care of this child and Phil will gladly help her at any moment at any given time. So she can complain all she wants, but Phil isn’t going to stop.
He changes his direction and flaps his wings, just gaining a bit more speed so he can make it to his house before it’s completely dark. He has a few hundred blocks of distance he needs to travel after all.
And just before the sun is completely faded and before the monsters come out, Phil lands softly on the grass next to his front porch and runs up the steps, swinging the door open and taking in his house.
When Kristin and him got married, they decided to live in isolation; they're own little world that they can live on with just villagers and no other people around.
You see, Phil is what people call an Admin. A powerful creature born with the powers to control a world. When you’re young and you discover you’re an Admin, you're sent to this school specifically designed to train Admins how to use their powers. And while it’s led by some jerks, they do teach you how to use the power. Not knowing can really be detrimental when trying to govern your own world.
Once you graduate from that school, you are free to go along with your life. You can choose to make your own server/world, making it public, private, or private with a whitelist. Only Admins can make their own worlds and for those who want private worlds but aren’t Admins, there’s a system so that Admins can basically put their worlds up for adoption for lack of a better term. The person can take the server and use it as if it was their own, with the Admin checking up on it every once in a while to make sure it’s stable. For bigger worlds, like Hypixel, multiple Admins can govern it, or an Admin can give a person OP power. This power is controlled by the Admin, but basically gives the person the power to help govern it. They can’t create their own world and it’s only useful while in the server they were given the powers in.
So, with all that being said, Phil didn’t really want to stay in a big public server where people could show up every now and then to talk to him just because of his power, so he created this world for them to stay safe in.
Not only is Phil an Admin, but his wife, Kristin, is known as The Goddess of Death. Like her title states, she is in charge of all the death that happens around the worlds. She can’t be there for every death, since so many happen at one time, or she’s just busy, but she does show up to help some people carry on into the afterlife. She’s kinda like the grim reaper, leading people over, but she’s not evil or rude at all, quite forgiving and empathetic actually. That doesn't stop people from being angry with her. She’s been sought out a couple times by people seeking revenge and she has been forced to take their lives as well. It hurts her, because the last thing she wants to do is fight and kill those people, but she will to protect herself and her family. Phil has seen her kill an entire clan because they were after him.
So those are the main reasons Phil and Kristin moved to their own place. While Kristin can just leave to any world (she doesn’t need permissions for private servers since she’s a goddess), no one can come find her and seek revenge so it’s perfect.
They’ve been living in this quaint house for quite some time, a couple years now, and they have loved it so much.
He walks into the house, setting his jacket on the coat hanger and kicking his shoes off next to it. He turns towards the kitchen, already smelling the sweet scent of cooked steak, mashed potatoes, and some beans.
“Kristin~” Phil sings as he walks up behind her and wraps his arms around, lifting her up off the ground.
“Woah- Phil,"she giggles and slaps his arm, demanding to be let down. He sets her down softly and nuzzles his head onto her shoulder and angles into her neck, breathing softly as he runs his hands over the baby bump she has. “You’ve been so clingy ever since I got pregnant.”
“Can you blame me?” Phil mumbles as he waddles with Kristin to the kitchen table. “You’re carrying my child, how could I not be clingy?”
She only scoffs, rolling her eyes light heartedly and sets the food she was holding down on the table. “Well sit down and eat and then we can cuddle.”
Phil has never sat down so quickly in his life.
---
They’re in their bed, Phil still rubbing Kristin’s stomach while the woman lays back and reads. He can see her eyebrows furrow every now and then, clearly uncomfortable as the baby squirms around inside her.
Phil can feel them kicking every once in a while and he can’t help the smile that appears on his face.
He didn’t notice Kristin set the book to the side, placing it on the nightstand, then her turning to him.
“Do you think it’s going to be a boy or a girl?” She asks, knocking Phil out of his stupor.
“Hmm?” he hums.
They never went to find out the gender of their child, wanting to wait until they were born to find out. They have names for whether it’s a boy or a girl and when the child finally comes into this world is when they’ll give them a name.
“I don’t know, but I think I’d like a girl,” Phil says, smoothly rubbing his thumb over where the baby just kicked again.
“You want a girl so you can have her be your little princess," Kristin calls him out and Phil chuckles.
“Guilty as charged.”
They grow silent and Kristin takes a deep breath before speaking.
“I want a boy.”
Phil glances up at her and keeps quiet as she continues talking.
“He’ll have beautiful eyes; green like the world around him.”
“None of our eyes are green, Kris,” Phil points out and Kristin just shakes her head.
“He’ll be born of two magical parents. His eyes will reflect that. Green is a rare color that shows magic and I think he’ll have it and since I’m the mother and I’m a goddess. What I say goes.”
“I don’t think that’s how it works,” Phil states, but Kristin continues anyway.
“He’ll have your sandy blond hair with cute little freckles that dot his cheeks like constellations. He’ll be full of wonder and a bit rebellious like his father.” She giggles when Phil groans and stuffs his face into Kristin’s shirt.
“Prime, I hope he isn’t.”
“He’ll have his own set of wings, just like his dad and he’ll love to fly with them.” She sighs at the vision and sinks further into her bed. “He’ll be powerful like his momma, and blessed like his dad.”
Phil snores softly from where he’s fallen asleep and she just glances at him lovingly. She’ll make fun of him tomorrow for falling asleep while she describes their future son, but for now, she’ll sleep along with him as well.
“I know it,” she whispers, despite the fact that he can’t hear her. She turns to look at her stomach, feeling her little child roll around and she runs her hand down it. “I’ll see you soon, my sweet child.”
---
Phil prays for his hand as Kristin squeezes the absolute life out of it, crushing all his bones and nerves with her strength. Hopefully the cleric will be able to help him with that once they’re done delivering the baby.
Kristin’s water broke a couple hours ago and it just so happened that now the baby was coming. Luckily, Phil was home when it all happened and he threw all his chores to the wind to be able to stay home and care for her while the baby makes its move.
She screams again and Phil cringes as he hears something cracks, most likely his bones.
“It’s okay, Kris,” he hums soothingly, pushing some sweaty hair behind her ear. She is absolutely drenched in sweat and Phil isn’t going to say anything about it. She’s in pain right now, but she wanted this. She kept telling Phil a couple days ago how she can tell the baby’s close and how it’ll only be a couple of days until he’s ready to come.
And yes, she wasn’t letting the fact down that she’s absolutely certain their firstborn will be male. Phil gave up trying to change her mind a while ago.
But now’s the moment of truth. Their child is coming any moment now and they’ll know for sure.
“You got this.” Phil breathed out, trying to guide his wife to follow his breathing. “You got this, Kristin. It’s all going to be worth it to see our child and be able to hold him in your hands.”
Kristin nods in agreement and she yells again. Phil can’t help but grind his teeth, he doesn’t like hearing his wife in pain.
It’s a couple more hours before Phil is holding his sweet baby boy, just like Kristin said, in his hands.
He glances over at his wife who is breathing heavily, but staring at him and her son with stars in her eyes. He goes over and sits down on the bed next to her, handing the crying baby into her arms.
Her breathing stutters and tears fill her eyes as she stares at the child wriggling and crying in her arms.
“He’s beautiful,” she says through her tears and Phil nods, all words leaving his mouth as tears fall from his eyes as well. Holy crap, he made that.
“You were right,” Phil says as he runs his finger down his son’s face.
“Of course I was.” Kristin smirks at him and Phil chuckles and leans in closer to look at his baby.
“He’s adorable,” he says, kissing his wife on the cheek afterwards.
“He’s ours.” She takes the blanket he’s currently laying on, one Phil specifically got when he saw the baby was coming, and wraps her son up in it to keep him warm. She whispers lovingly into his ear, "Hello, Clay.”
