Chapter Text

The second you walked out of the theater on Thursday after watching Mommyverse of Wanda- Multiverse of Madness on the day it was released, you were sad, confused, and lonely. And mostly still shocked and numb at the movie you had just watched.

First of all, how in the world is Elizabeth Olsen so hot? The whole movie you were more horny than scared, not that you would ever admit that. And the plot and everything. Honestly, it’s the best thing you have seen for a while. You don’t understand how the crowd is so dead.

Walking towards your car, you picked up your phone when you noticed your best friend’s ringtone. “Megan! Hey!”

“Y/N!” Megan was screaming into the speaker on the other end of the call and you scowled as you held the phone away from your face while unlocking your car, throwing your bags in before getting in yourself.

“Lower your voice, Meg, I don’t want to be deaf by the end of this call,” you paused, before adding. “Don’t you dare roll your eyes at me.”

There was a pause, before Megan spoke up again, thankfully quieter this time. You plugged your phone into your car and connected it to bluetooth. “You can’t even see me.”

“We’ve known each other for more than ten years, I know you well enough by now,” it was your turn to roll your eyes. You started to pull your car out of the parking lot. “Now what the fuck made you scream like a fucking child.”

“OMG! YOU WON’T BELIEVE ME,” Megan was screaming again, and your face twisted into an unpleasant scowl. Knowing that your best friend is not likely to quiet down her tone any time soon, you turned down the volume.

“Try me,” you challenged.

Megan didn’t seem to have heard you, already continuing her squeals. “Okay, so you know like The Outset, right?”

“Right…” you nodded, stopping at a red light. “What does that have to do with anything?”

“So…” Megan paused again, as if hoping to make you beg for it. You didn’t, letting Megan hang there as you paused for a red light. “So…”

You scoffed. “If you’re waiting for me to beg, you would never get to tell me what it is.”

“Fine,” she huffed. “So, The Outset liked one of my comments… AND IN THE COMMENT I ASKED IF SCARLETT WOULD MARRY ME.”

“Good for you, babes,” you replied half-heartedly. You know that’s huge for your friend, but your mind is still trying to process everything you had just since in the movie.

“ARE YOU FUCKING DEAF!?” Megan’s volume was even louder than before, and you winced. “I just told you Scarlett Johansson like my comment and all you gave me was ‘good for you’?? AND SHE RESPONDED WITH A WEDDING RING EMOJI!”

You hummed in response, turning right, and pulling into your street.

That further enraged your best friend, who was definitely still freaking out. “Y/N I NEED HELP! WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO RESPONSE?! WHY ARE YOU BEING SO COLD? YOU USUALLY SOUND MORE EXCITED THAN ME.”

“One, stop screaming,” you replied calmly, pulling into your garage and grabbing your phone, keys, and purse before walking into your house, where your dog quickly came over, wiggling her tails and licking your leg. You let out a small chuckle, placing your stuff on the kitchen counter. “Two, excuse me because I just walked out of the theater after watching Multiverse of Madness.”

That seems like a good enough explanation for Megan. “Okay, that makes sense why you’re so quiet.”

“It does,” you agreed, slumping onto your sofa, smiling when your dog, Cammy, immediately jumped up and wiggled her way into your arms. You patted her head.

“You’re still horny from the film-” Megan’s next word made you choke on the water you had just taken a sip of. You started coughing, Megan’s laughters were the only thing that you could hear. Cammy tilted her head, unsure what to do.

“What the fuck, Megan. I could be in public,” you sputtered, placing the glass of water down. No more water for you.

Megan scoffed. “But you’re not in public, are you?”

“...No.”

“Exactly,” Megan exclaimed. “You just need to sex it out.”

You coughed again, glancing down at Cammy with wide eyes. “Okay, Megan, maybe you’re the one who needs to… sex it out with someone after Scarlett fucking Johansson responded to your comment and agreed to marry you.”

“Planning on doing that,” you knew from the cheerful tone that Megan was grinning. “Hey, go to the bar with me tonight! You can relieve that tension between your legs.”

“Okay, what the actual fuck have gotten into your today?” You exclaimed. Your eyes widened when you glanced at the clock. It was almost nine at night. “Are you already drunk?”

There was a pause, before a giggle escaped her lips. “No…”

“You are totally drunk,” you muttered, getting up, earning yourself an annoyed look from Cammy. You gave his head an apologetic pat as you made your way towards your bedroom. It was too late for your friend’s openness. “Okay, how about you cut off whatever drink you’re on and drink some water.”

“Fine…” she pouted, and you let out a sigh of relief. Your best friend was hard to deal with when drunk.

“Do you need me to come over?” You questioned.

There was another pause, before she spoke up again. “My girlfriend promised to be here later tonight.”

“Good, good, go sex it out with your girlfriend,” you rolled your eyes, your replied sarcastic but Megan doesn’t seems to have caught that. And before she could go into detail about what she wanted her girlfriend to do to her, you quickly called out. “Well, good night Megan. Sleep well, I’m going to bed.”

Megan pouted. “Fineee, see you tomorrow.”

“See you tomorrow,” you replied, before hanging up the phone, plugging it into the charger on your bedside table and grabbing a change of clothes before making your way to the bathroom.

You quickly showered, before once again crawling back into your bed. Cammy found her way next to you like every night, and you closed your eyes. But what annoyed you the most is that when you closed your eyes, all you could see was Wanda, and everything that happened in the movie.

Groaning, you turned to your side and buried your face in your pillow, before sleep finally claimed you.

When you woke up again, you groaned at the sunlight that streamed in through the window. Your alarm was freaking out besides you and you smacked it, thankfully shutting it off.

Pulling yourself out of bed, you grabbed your work clothes before going into the bathroom, staring back at yourself in the mirror. There was something different about it, but you didn’t have much time to think about it before you went through your usual morning routine. Your brain was too foggy for you to question why your toothbrush was to the right of the sink instead of left, and why you couldn’t find some of your skin care products in the place you usually placed them.

After getting your makeup done and changing into clothes, you unplugged your phone and went out of the room, setting water and food for Cammy before grabbing milk from the fridge and cereal from your cupboard.

You poured yourself something, before turning on the music. Taylor Swift started playing and you frowned when you noticed it was a song you had never heard before.

“Hey Siri,” you called out, your eyes furrowed in confusion. “What song is this?”

This is Loveless by Taylor Swift.

You took a spoonful of cereal, taking out your phone to search up that title. Maybe you really had been cooped up in your office for too long you didn’t even have time to keep up with Taylor news. But you’re pretty sure Megan would have screamed it in your face if Taylor Swift posted an announcement about a new album or single…

Before you unlocked your phone, your confusion grew when you noticed a contact you never had in your phone. You quickly unlocked it, opening up the message.

Your eyes widened at those messages, those sounding awfully like something you would definitely say… looking at the text, you finally decided to reply to Lizzie’s previous ones.

Y/n

one, good morning! Two, milk and cereal ARE breakfast,

three love you too <333

There was no way to tell what the fuck is happening right now, but you decided to go on with your normal routine, trying to figure out everything as it played out. It was by lunch time did you finally meet this Lizzie person.

You weren’t expecting anyone, but when Megan approached your office, knocking on your door and a smirk on her face, you knew you should expect knews like that. “Your girlfriend’s here, Y/n.”

“Why are you smirking at me like that?” You complained. She just gave you a wink before walking away. You flipped her off, grumbling under your breath. When your door opened a second time and this Lizzie person walked in, you froze.

Elizabeth fucking Olsen walked through your fucking office door, and you’re pretty sure you fucking died dead. (And the amount of fuck you had used in that sentence made you believe that your mother would definitely ground you till you’re fourty.)

She was wearing jeans and a casual t-shirt, a coat wrapped around her shoulder and a scarf around her neck. You stared at her. Okay, whatever dream you’re having, the you from that universe is a lucky bitch. You would kill to switch places with her. Not literally, but at the same time, yes literally.

“Hey, darling,” Lizzie grinned at you, closing the door behind her as she greeted you with a peck on your lips. You froze again. OH MY GOSH. Lizzie chuckled at your expression. “Close your mouth or you’ll catch flies, Y/n.”

“You’re really beautiful, have I ever told you that?” you muttered. Lizzie placed a takeout bag on your table, pressing a kiss to your forehead.

“Yes darling, you remind me every single day, and I’ll never be more thankful that I have you in my life,” you plopped herself down on the chair opposite of you taking out the takeout like it's a normal occasion. And maybe it is.

You helped her out, taking the food that Lizzie didn’t grab. “I should be the lucky and thankful one,” you exclaimed. “Out of everyone in the world, you choose me!”

“I’ll choose you in every universe,” Lizzie winked. And even only knowing her for a short amount of time, there was a look of seriousness in her gaze, and if you weren’t mistaken, her iris glowed red for a second. But you didn’t think too much of it, making small talk with her and asking her about the film she’s working on, mostly for your own sake.

Lizzie didn’t tell you much, but she was willing to discuss Multiverse of Madness with you, letting you fangirl over her and kissing you every time you tell her how hot Wanda Maximoff is. She would remind you every second that the two of them are basically the same person.

“Okay, tell me this,” Lizzie suddenly sat up, sounding serious. You nodded again, tilting your head in confusion but leaning forward in your seat as well, mirroring her pose. “Who will you choose, Scarlet Witch or Wanda?”

“Why not have both,” you didn’t hesitate to respond, and Lizzie laughed. You pouted at her reaction. “I’m serious Lizzie. I want them both so Scarlet Witch doesn’t feel left out. I love them both equally.” You huffed.

Lizzie gave you a soft smile, leaning over and pecking your lips. You grinned, knowing you’ll never get tired of the way it made your stomach flutter when she kissed you. But then Lizzie glanced at the clock, a sad smile on her face when she saw that your lunch break was over.

You initiated the kiss this time, pulling her into a hug. “I’ll see you after work, okay?”

“Okay,” Lizzie responded, but there was a sad frown on her face as she hugged you. You didn’t notice the wisps of red that appeared on her fingertips. “I’ll be waiting for you after work.”

True to her word, Lizzie was with you after work. But she seems different, not like you ever knew Lizzie ever but different from the way you’ve seen her just during Lunch. But you didn’t question much about it, believing that you should enjoy this while you can. And you fell asleep wrapped up in Lizzie’s arms, a warmth you wish could have stayed with you till the morning.

But when morning came, you were once again alone in your bedroom, with no trace of anyone ever sleeping next to you. You rubbed your eyes, glancing down at your phone. Lizzie’s contact was gone now, Megan’s apology texts in place before her tone started to sound more… worry?

Your eyes widened when you realized whatever the fuck happened definitely wasn’t a dream. You had skipped a whole day… A whole day of your life just skipped because of… whatever happened in another…universe?

“I’m going crazy,” you muttered to yourself, getting out of bed and putting some food and water in Cammy’s bowl for her. “I either slept like two days straight or I was hallucinating yesterday…”

There was a missed call from your work, and you quickly text your boss, hoping your excuse was enough for you to keep your job.

Y/n

I had a really bad headache yesterday and I couldn’t

even get out of bed. Sorry I didn’t call in sick.

You sent the texts and crossed your fingers, hoping for the best. Everything was normal, and you went on with your normal Saturday activity, walking your dog before agreeing to meet Megan for lunch later that day.

Megan was already there when you arrived at the local diner near your place. You quickly took a seat opposite of your best friend, and she was giving you a concerned look.

“Glad you’re not dead,” she replied dryly, glancing up from the menu.

“Glad you still have your humor,” you replied in the same tone, more sarcasm laced in yours. You took the menu, glancing at the food listed out.

The two of you didn’t talk much until after you both ordered the food, and Megan gave you a look of concern. “What happened yesterday? You suddenly just disappeared yesterday and you didn’t even call the office! Do you know how many meetings you missed out on yesterday?”

You winced. “Less than five?”

“You wish,” Megan scoffed, and you made a face. You knew there were a few important meetings scheduled yesterday. “Fine, it was three.”

“Thank gosh,” you muttered, kicking Megan under the table, causing her to call out. “That’s for lying to me and scaring me half to death.”

“I love you too,” Megan grumbled. “But seriously, what happened? You were just suddenly gone.”

You thought it over, not sure whether or not you should tell her. “You wouldn’t believe me…”

“Try me, bitch.” You rolled your eyes at her tone, and Megan just flashed you an innocent smile.

“Well… I think I went to another universe,” you muttered. Megan gave you a look of concern, leaning forward and pressing her hand onto your forehead.

“It’s not a fever… are you feeling okay?”

You groaned. “I told you that you wouldn’t believe me! I was somehow in a universe where me and Elizabeth Olsen are a thing.”

“Lucky bitch,” Megan muttered. You nodded in agreement. “And then? Are you sure you weren’t having a high fever yesterday and dreamt the whole thing?”

You thought over it, before shaking your head. “Usually when I have a fever, I’ll sweat it out in my sleep.”

“Gross, I wouldn’t need to know that,” she exclaimed dramatically. Before you could hit her across the table, the waitress came back carrying their food. You glared at Megan, who just smirked.

When the waitress left again, you continued. “And it was so real. I swear I was in that universe… but it is possible that it’s a dream. In the movie, dreams are just a part of you from another universe.”

“You know what?” Megan paused her fork mid way. “I think the movie’s just getting to you. You just need a few days to cool down and remind yourself of the actual reality you live in.”

You thought over it, before nodding. “I guess you’re right.”

“I’m always right,” she said through a mouthful of food.

“Don’t talk when you’re eating.”

“Who are you, my mom?” She scoffed.

You rolled your eyes. “Your best friend. Which means I get mom privilege.”

You laughed when she flipped you off.

You were still smiling from your lunch with Megan when you finally returned home. And you really thought you had seen everything that’s possible already but another surprise greeted you in your kitchen.

Although you won’t admit it, you screamed when you noticed another woman in your house. And when she turned around, you gasped, noticing the familiar Scarlet Witch outfit. You eyed her wearily, glancing at Cammy who was sleeping peacefully in Wanda’s lap, no care in the world. “Umm… hey?”

“Y/n,” Wanda muttered, slowly approaching you. You backed up, your eyes wide.

“Are you some sort of cosplayer that sneaked into my house? Because I swear to god I will call the police,” you threatened.

Wanda, or who you assumed is Wanda, shook her head. She raised her arms, and you watched in surprise when every available object in your house was lifted up by red magic. Your eyes widened, letting out a sigh when she placed down those items again. “I’m not here to hurt you.”

“Not dying today,” you agreed. You don’t know why you were so calm about everything, but after everything that had happened yesterday, maybe this wasn’t the weirdest thing that had been happening to you. “So… what are you doing here?”

“You said you'd love me in every universe,” Wanda muttered. “You told me that yesterday… And I found that the variant of me in your universe isn’t with you, which is absolutely absurd by the way, something’s wrong with me from this universe, so I thought why not give it a shot?”

Wanda was playing with her fingers, and she seemed more nervous than you are. You eyed her wearily, before opening your arms, and Wanda didn’t hesitate before she ran into you and buried her face in the crook of your neck. You let out a oof when you fell backwards, but Wanda caught the two of you before you could fall, placing you gently on the floor and holding onto you as if her life depended on it.

You held her, stroking her hair as she curled up deeper into you. Cammy soon joined the cuddle feast, rubbing her nose against your hand. You smiled at her, and watched as Wanda patted Cammy. Cammy didn’t hesitate before climbing onto her lap and you pouted. “Not even two seconds into my life and you’re already stealing my dog away from me.”

“You have forever to get her back,” Wanda muttered. And you questioned why this already felt more normal than you would have thought it would be. You leaned down and kissed the crown of her neck, but before you could move away, Wanda pulled you down and pressed her lips against your, making you let out a small gasp.

You melted in her touch, and Wanda knew just that. You pulled away when you started to run out of breath, but the lingered feeling of Wanda’s lips were still there. You were gasping, and Wanda smiled. The two of you sat there for a while, before a question occurred to you.

“What would people think when they see you walking around? You don’t even have an ID.”

“Did you forget that I am Scarlet Witch?” Wanda raised her eyebrow. “I can change reality, darling. Don’t worry about it.”

Without another word, she pulled you in for another kiss. Maybe this life won’t be so bad after all.
