After my meta talking about Ed's self-image being built mostly on lies, I received this message:
"Love your meta on Ed & his self-deception. Any thoughts on why Ed starts insulting Stede at the fancy party & why– as with the Calico Jack plot– it never seems to occur to Stede to hold it against him? He blames himself ("I was never very good at these things") and goes running back in to avenge him when it backfires on Ed. Do you think that self-abnegating forgiveness is something we'll see more about?"
