Work Text:
Only with Kiryu's luck could he get sick on the day of his birthday. He didn't have much time to think about how the whole situation sucked, because he was suddenly hunched over the toilet bowl again and hurled. Majima rubbed pleasantly warm circles on his back, "Jeez, Kiryu-chan. Is this what always happens when yer sick?" Kiryu's head emerged from the bowl after a good few minutes of hurling straight stomach bile. Majima tore a piece of toilet paper away, folded it, and wiped away the thick spittle and vomit that was dripping down Kiryu's lip.
"Ya threw up three times now. Are ya gonna stop at any point?"
Kiryu sighed, "I don't know. It could start again."
Majima pressed Kiryu into his side, who hummed in appreciation.
"Want me to see if there's anything that can help in the medicine cabinet?"
"There's, uh, only painkillers in there from a few months ago. And bandaids. And gauze. And-"
"Alright," Majima cut him off, "I get it. No good medicine." With his free hand, he brought it up to Kiryu's forehead, only to discover it was burning hot; like an Arizonian sidewalk. Kiryu wasn't aware of what he was doing, but he was leaning into the touch.
"Jesus. I can't tell if this is a cold or if ya got food poisoning." Majima had to retract his hand as Kiryu was moving forward again, vomiting more than what Majima thought was humanly possible.
"Shit, Kaz, am I gonna have to get a doctor? Or take ya to the hospital?" Majima asked, suddenly all the more worried. Kiryu coughed violent, sharp coughs that made Majima wince; there's no way those didn't hurt his throat. He leaned back against the wall again and sighed, but not a relaxed sigh, but more of a 'oh thank god it's over' sigh. "No. Sorry for making you worry, nii-san. This is just how I get when I'm sick." Majima breathed through his nose at the response, and brought his hand up to card his fingers through Kiryu's sweaty hair, who let out an appreciative hum.
"Gonna puke some more?" Kiryu shook his head, but clenched his eyes shut at the dizziness it brought. "No, I just want to sleep." "Okay," Majima replied patiently, "Let's get you to bed. I'll move yer futon so it's closer to the bathroom."
"Okay." Kiryu said weakly.
------
Kiryu woke up thankfully just once in his sleep. But it was to vomit again, so it wasn't much of an accomplishment. When he awoke the second time, it was weak and blearily and not in the same urgency he had the last time. Majima moved over to him, putting a hand over his forehead. He tsked before opening the medicine bottle held in his hand, pouring the dark pink liquid into the tiny cup before bringing it to Kiryu's lips, who swallowed easily before grimacing at the bitter taste. He brought a water to his lips, but Kiryu held them in a tight line of refusal.
"C'mon, Kaz," Majima urged, "Ya puked like five times, yer dehydrated and it's gonna make ya dizzy, so drink some water." Kiryu relented finally, and once the water reached his throat he downed it in seconds. Majima rubbed his thumb over Kiryu's cheek, "So how do ya feel?"
"Tired," Kiryu grumbled, "But not like 'm gonna throw up again."
"That's good." And Kiryu hummed at the comforting movements of Majima's thumb, which now stroked his chin. "Do ya think you can eat?" Kiryu grimaced, "No, I'll puke again." His eyebrows furrowed. Majima sighed, "Alright, try 'n get some more sleep, but if yer feeling better than yer eating." He ended off with a firm tone, but Kiryu already fell back asleep.
------
Majima stayed true to his word, and when Kiryu woke up feeling all the more better, but still like shit, he made him eat. He sat in front of KIryu on the futon with a bowl in his hands, spoon in the warm broth. He put it in Kiryu's lap, who attempted to pick up the spoon but dropped it back in the bowl, looking utterly embarrassed about how weak he suddenly was. "Sorry." Was all he said. Majima shook his head and scooted closer, scooping up the broth and carrots and putting it to Kiryu's mouth. He poked his lips, "C'mon, Kaz."
He poked Kiryu's lips with the spoon. He sighed but accepted, almost melting from how comforting the warm, but not too hot, broth was while travelling down his throat smoothly. He kept the spoon in his mouth, trying to savor the taste before it was pulled out. "There's more soup, so don't think that was all of it." He dipped the spoon back in the bowl, and with his free hand cupped Kiryu's cheek so his head didn't loll to the side from exhaustion. Kiryu hummed at the sensation and opened his mouth for more of the soup. If he weren't so worried for Kiryu's condition, he'd find it adorable.
Kiryu nuzzled his face into Majima's hand, almost passing out at the feeling, as he looked softly at Majima, who in turn blushed.
"Ya don't have to look at me like that."
"Like what?"
"Like that. 'M just makin' sure yer okay."
"But you didn't have to."
Majima sputtered at that, "Yeah, maybe, sure, but I wanted to, Kiryu-chan."
Kiryu just hummed more when he was spoon-fed more broth.
He finished the bowl in minutes, and whined when Majima wouldn't let him drink the leftover broth; because there wasn't much left of it, and if Kiryu tried that he'd spill it everywhere.
He didn't complain anymore though, as when Majima came back Kiryu was out like a light. He smiled softly, glad he was feeling better.
