He was angry. At the morning for doing this to him, at himself for not listening, and mixed with all those feelings crawled a sickening fear and he felt smaller and weaker than he ever had in his short life.
“Dad-!” The word felt alien in his tongue, and it slipped out before he could think twice about it.
There was erratic shuffling and curses from the room at the end of the hall before the two men barreled out of it.

“Its been a little over a month.” His voice came out lower than he would’ve liked it to, and his accent slipped near the end. “Last time I ate, I mean.”
Ryoma had sat on his good side, so he could see from the corner of his eye that he looked deep in thought, looking forward at the fire and mulling something over. After a moment, Ryoma turned his head to face him. Okita felt compelled to do the same, while still leaning back heavily against the wall.
“Let me help.” He hated how casual and innocent the offer sounded.

The unnerving quiet wasn't normal, it hadn’t been for a while. There had been nights similar to this one though, where he’d wake up to the mansion in blissful silence before bumping into one or a handful of the boys causing mayhem before being sent to bed.
He’d assumed that was the case for tonight, and had settled on enjoying the noon until the inevitable yelling and sound of things breaking started up from somewhere in the building. But yet another movement on his peripheral vision made him close the book he'd been reading and get up.

"You should come up," Sagawa tells him. Not so far off from the bar, they've come to a halt in front of an apartment complex, not a hotel, though he'd told him he's here on business.
"I ain't full service," Majima says bluntly. He'd anticipated this. Sagawa hasn't touched him once, and he doesn't seem lonely enough to pay for a little conversation. He doesn't seem lonely at all. It's uncommon quality to have in Kamurocho, though he sounds like he's from Osaka, the loneliness of which Majima is uncertain of.
Having escaped from Shimano's custody, Majima takes up a side job to make ends meet.

Kiryu’s cheeks burned. He could lie. And maybe if it had been anybody else, if it were a pretty hostess or that Poppo cashier with the nose ring that always gave him an extra hot bun, he would have. But this was Majima. He hated being lied to. It felt wrong to lie to him.
“First time, period,” he muttered.
