Work Text:
Paul only became aware of the fact he was coming out of his sleep because of the strong urge he got to smoke. Really, it always came as this little urge that gnawed at his mind until he had one, and it stopped bothering him. It was like a routine really, he would smoke when he woke up, before he went to bed, times in between. And often in the middle of the night, such as this.
Though he felt so comfortable near the warmth of his partner, Patryk had one arm around him, and his face was comfortably nuzzled in between Pauls neck and shoulder. It was like when a cat fell asleep on you, you couldn’t bring yourself to move as to not disturb them.
But of course, his urge to smoke was stronger than his will could manage to get rid of. He slowly sat up now, he felt too conscious to fall back asleep easily, a cigarette would help him feel relaxed enough to go back to bed though, it always did. But when he sat up, Patryk didn’t move his arm.
“Nnmmmmm…” The low hum of a whine came from his partners lips as he clung to Paul a little tighter.
“Hey, ‘m just going for a smoke, I’ll be back.” Paul responded in a whisper.
“Noooooooo,” His husband protested, trying to pull Paul back down into bed, Patryk had always hated how often Paul smoked and scolded him for it on a regular. But of course it was a hard habit to beat, he understood when Paul had to.
Didn’t make him any less pissed though.
“Come on, it’ll be real quick… promise, 5 minutes at most, trust me?” Paul now brushed a hand through Patryks hair, the taller looking up at his lover with tired eyes which beckoned him to stay in bed.
“Mmm…” Another little whine left his lips as he leaned into Paul’s hair, it stroking his hair gently. “Now you have to keep petting me. No…” He refused to let go.
“Oh gosh. Okay, alright. Come here,” Paul couldn’t help but smile as he leaned back down, giving Patryk a kiss on the cheek. “You’re really needy you know that.”
“Shut up… you’re such a jerk, leaving me all alone in bed to smoke. Who does that? Some husband you are.” An equally bitter response said as Patryk kissed him back.
Their bickering ceased for a moment as their lips touched, the room silent other than little “I love you’s” which would escape from kiss.
“Okay, I seriously need to smoke,” Paul pulled away with a little groan, and Patryk let out a dramatic sigh, holding Paul’s waist as he tried to get out of bed.
“I physically can’t let go of you.” He stated bluntly, giving Paul that silly look he always had on his face, his cheeks smushed together.
“No? That sounds like a problem.. if you can never ever let go of me how am I supposed to go to the bathroom?”
“Paul I think we’ve been through enough together to where seeing each other in the bathroom is seriously.. not a big deal.” Patryk responded as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“Mmhm. Come on, you know I’ll come right back. You hate when I smoke in the house, aren’t you happy I’m going to do it outside like you asked me to? Please, lief.” He spoke out, his accent heavy as he called Patryk that pet name he always loved, no doubt trying to butter him up.
“I hate when you smoke period. But.. just… come back soon, if you take too long I’ll come out there and we’ll just have to sleep on the porch.” Patryk reluctantly agreed. Damn, he really was clingier than he thought, letting go of Paul felt really shitty.
“Well, that won’t be so bad. Sleeping with you is the most comfortable way to sleep, no matter where we are,” It sounded cheesy but he really did mean it. “On the ground, in a plane, in a tank. Anywhere with you, sweetheart.”
“You are such a dick…” Patryk leaned on the pillow, words muffled as it covered his mouth. “Stop being all sweet to me and get out of here before I grab you and straddle you in bed again.”
Paul laughed. “Okay, okay. Thank you. Won’t take a minute.” He reassured again as he got up with a stretch, leaving the room.
Patryk watched his partner leave, hugging the pillow to his chest now.
“God. I’m so fucking lucky.”
