Chapter Text

Maybe the whole Volpina thing had happened in the past. Maybe enough weeks had passed to dull the humiliation.

But even though Lila knew that Ladybug was trying her best and doing her duty as a superhero, she still pressed her lips together in disapproval when she saw her. And that’s what she did when Ladybug showed up. Lila had just been inside of a small clothing shop, perusing the dresses inside when the glass of the display windows suddenly shattered. The cashier had gone in the back of store in some other room a few minutes ago, and only a few customers including Lila were alone with the person climbing in the window.

Lila didn’t get a good luck, quickly ducking behind the rack of dresses as fear pulsed in her body. Was it a robbery? A burglary? The other customers yelled and ran, trying to hide.

    A supervillain?

Just then the door the cashier had vanished through opened, and Lila watched, eyes wide, as the woman looked around in confusion, and then met eyes with whoever had crashed their way in. And before Lila’s eyes, the cashier froze in place, skin and fabric suddenly turning gray until she was entirely made of stone.

Lila gasped, sinking to her knees and praying the villain wouldn’t come over. She heard the sounds of cracking stone, and knew that the other customers had fallen victim.

Just then, something grabbed her hand and closed on her mouth.

Lila reacted instinctively, shoving her elbows back and hitting something that felt a lot like another person.

“I’m trying to help!” A voice suddenly said, and Lila turned her head, a hand still solidly planted over her mouth. It was Ladybug.

Amidst the screaming and sounds of carnage, Ladybug nodded to the table behind them, which was covered with a white cloth and had a selection of jewelry displayed on top. She pulled Lila down, who was a bit too surprised to resist, and hurried underneath the table.

Lila found herself lying on the carpeted floor face up, Ladybug on top of her and underneath the table. The white cloth reached the floor, hiding the two of them from view.

Lila was first not that happy to see Ladybug just because she, well, Ladybug. But then she realized Ladybug was probably saving her ass, so she felt a little grateful.

She hadn’t expected to have Ladybug’s body hovering over her, one of her red hands firmly pressed against her mouth and the other resting next to her head. Lila stared upwards at Ladybug, who paid her no attention. Her head was turned out to the rest of the shop, squinting through the white fabric to see what was going on.

Lila’s heart began to hammer in her chest as she registered their proximity.
