Luz is pretty sure she’s never seen Amity so happy, giggling with delight as she runs around the front of the house, jumping into every puddle she sees.
The human silently takes out her phone to take a video of her adorable girlfriend, adorned in a light pink raincoat decorated with a strawberry pattern across the bottom and froggie print dark green rain boots.
But the best thing the lavender haired girl wore is her bright smile, just beaming with pure happiness as she jumps and stomps and dances from one rain puddle to the next.
“Splash!” Amity echoes, soaring into a big puddle towards the end of the driveway. Luz believes she’s about to have a heart attack from her cuteness right now.
The witch starts to get tired after a good twenty minutes more of playing, rubbing her eyes with a closed fist as she stands in a puddle, lightly kicking out her boots to send tiny water droplets flying.
Luz can’t help but laugh, causing the Little to look at her with a pout.
“I think someone’s getting tired,” the human says with musical notes surrounding her words, only for Amity to stick out her tongue and run to the next puddle with a much less noticeable oomph factor.
It takes multiple attempts of gentle coaxing and a bribe of hot chocolate to get the girl to come back inside. Amity yawns as Luz helps her out of her rain gear, the human asking if she feels old enough to change into pajamas herself or if she needs help.
There’s a pause of silence, then the words, “I can do it, ‘m big girl,” tumble out of Amity’s mouth. The brunette bites her lip, asking if she’s sure she doesn’t want her help.
The witchling stomps her foot in return, a small whine escaping as she repeats that she’s a big girl, she is! She stomps again, tears of frustration brewing.
Luz holds her hands up in a I surrender pose, then gestures to the staircase, “Alright, alright, I hear you. I’ll start the hot chocolate while you get dressed, okay? The clothes you’re wearing can be put in the laundry room when you come back down.”
Amity makes a sound of agreement, counting the doors out loud until she reaches three, Luz’s room! The only problem is that she can’t remember where her pajamas are….. but she can figure it out!
Three draws later and still no pajamas, but she did find a cute pink shirt with a star in the middle with the colors blue, purple, and orange trailing after it. It was a size too big on her, but she didn’t mind.
Two draws after that she found a pair of very comfortable gray sweatpants that she may or may not steal afterwards— but she did it! She got dressed all by herself!
She ran down the stairs and into the kitchen, crashing right into Luz and sending both of them to the floor. Luckily, the warm drinks were already set up in the living room and not in the human’s hands.
“Sorry! Sorry, sorry!” Amity apologizes, scrambling to stand and offering out her hands to help her caregiver up.
“It’s okay. Excited to see me?” Luz wheezes with a smile, grabbing onto her girlfriend's outstretched arms.
“Always,” Amity answers without thinking, causing the Latina’s cheeks to sport a red hue.
Luz clears her throat, willing her blush to go down. She about to praise her little on getting dressed alone when she notices,
“I think your pants are on backwards, Batata. The strings should be in the front.”
The witch’s ears twitch in embarrassment, her whole face turning red. So much for being a big girl.
Luz assures her that it’s okay as she helps her little one put on the article of clothing correctly, telling her that some days she almost left the house with her shirts inside out or backwards, or even both before school.
“Now, I have the Azura movie queued up in the living room with hot chocolate and popcorn— it’s like pop-scorn but with more butter and less burnt bits. I think you’ll like it.”
The lander haired girl cheers as she runs and plops on the couch, noticing a mug and a cup with a spout on the coffee table, as well as that snack Luz was talking about in a big purple bowl.
She gingerly pops a few pieces of the human realm pop-scorn in her mouth and chews thoughtfully. She washes it down with a swig from her sippy cup, then reaches for a few more pieces.
“I like food from the human realm!” She exclaims, wiggling in excitement. Luz laughs at her cuteness, swiping some popcorn for herself.
“If you finish this, I’ll make another bag,” the human promises as she hits play on the tv, The Good Witch Azura appearing on screen.
Amity happily hums before laying her head on Luz’s shoulder, snuggling into her. The human glances down at her before pressing a kiss to her dyed hair, wrapping an arm around the witch’s waist.
Seeing how happy her girl was today, stomping in puddles and now curled up next to her as the witchling munches on the classic movie snack, eyes fixated on the screen as she drinks from her sippy cup, Luz’s heart just feels so full.
Sunny days are nice, but rainy ones might be her new favorite.
