Sugar or Milk?

Summary:

Lena snatches Nia’s coffee from her hands.

Kara and Nia discuss the importance of coffee.

Notes:

I’m so relieved that I haven’t stopped loving the characters – the women, mostly – from Supergirl even though I lost interest in the show. I think the regret of switching my Instagram account to another fandom really made me write more for this fandom. Anyway, I think I might make this into a series.

Work Text:

“I seriously have not met anyone who takes that much sugar in coffee,” Lena said, grimacing at the discarded packets of sugar in Nia’s hands.

Nia’s lips curled into a smile.

“Now you’ve met me.” She ran her hands down her face, attempting to stay awake. “You know, at least I don’t put milk in my cup.”

“What, is that supposed to be an insult?” Lena accused, snatching the cup out of Nia’s unoccupied hand, taking a sip.

“It sounded like one to me,” Kara joked, walking up to the coffee machine to fix her a cup. She grabbed some sugar packets and three plastic-wrapped cookies, bumping Nia’s shoulder while she was doing so.

“Oh no,” Lena glared, wagging her finger and her employees. “I don’t have the time or energy to go through this tonight.”

“Wait, you’re telling me you still hold a grudge?”

Yes,” Lena and Kara both said in unison.

“I–what?” Nia gasped, narrowing her eyes. “As I remember correctly, Lena was the one who took my coffee. You remember, Danvers?”

“Yes.” Kara attempted a scowl at the older brunette. “But I forgave her because she brought me $12.00 worth of potstickers.”

“Unbelievable,” Nia shook her head, then added, “I don’t know about you, but coffee stealing equals betrayal; coffee matters to me, it’s essential.”

“As it is essential to me, but potstickers are a lot more important. I can go without coffee only if it means I have an alternative: potstickers.”

Nia rolled her eyes playfully.

Lena huffed.

“Hey, Kara?”

“Uh-huh?”

“Be quiet and help me get my coffee back from the real coffee thief.”
