Work Text:

“Oh, George!”, a voice taunted behind him. “Oh, George, I’m gonna get you!” George kept running until it felt like his legs were going to give out. He stopped and looked behind him, surprisingly there was no evil monster in sight. “Georgie!” George whimpered and looked around frantically.

“No!”, George pleads, shrinking into himself, metaphorically, of course. “Please, don’t get me!” His heart beat at a rapid pace as all he heard was silence, then before George knew it, the monster came running towards

Then, George woke up with a jolt, and Little. He started to cry out for his Dada, but stopped when he felt a wet spot between his legs. He had an accident. He’d never had an accident in his bed before. George frowned and got out of bed, grabbing the sheets off of his bed. He wasn’t going to get his Dada up just because of an accident he had. He wanted to prove he could do it himself and be a big boy.

Carrying a pile of his bed sheets and blankets down the stairs, George couldn’t see what was in front of him, and he tripped on a toy that was left on the stairs, sending the Little flying down the stairs. He let out a quick wail as his head hit the banister with a thud . George rubbed the spot on his head and pouted.

He didn’t want his Dada getting up just because George made the mistake of falling down the stairs. He needed a new plan. He needed to go somewhere safe. The park! Of course!

George frowned as he walked to the park in the freezing weather and darkness. He hated the dark, and he hated, even more, to be alone. Curling up on a swing, George hid his face in his arms and cried.

--

Karl woke up to a loud crash, he didn’t know where it was, but it was somewhere in the house. It was the first time in a while he had woken up in the middle of the night, Big no less. Getting out of bed, Karl walked down the hall to see if Punz was still in his room. He was. Then, Karl went to check and see if George was sleeping in his bed. He wasn’t.

Karl decided to walk down the stairs, but he soon noticed that there was a bundle of sheets and blankets left on the stairs. That’s odd, he thought. Karl walked down the stairs quietly, avoiding the pile of sheets.

Once Karl took a quick look at all of the rooms in the house, he thought about all of the possible places George could’ve gone, coming down to one conclusion. His favorite park, the park that was very close to the house. Karl grabbed his jacket and left to go to the park.

--

Karl walked through the woods to get to the park, holding himself tightly. Despite the jacket he had on, it was still extremely cold, and outrageous for a (potential) Little to be alone in that temperature.

Walking a little further, Karl saw a dark figure sitting on one of the swings. George. Karl walked towards the swings and noticed George was crying.

“Georgie?”, Karl said softly, placing a hand on George’s shoulder. George flinched back, then looked up into Karl’s soft gray eyes. Karl smiled softly as George wrapped his arms around Karl’s midsection.

“Kawl”, George mumbled, taking in the boy’s scent.

“Hey, buddy, can you tell me how you ended up here?” George sniffled.

“Wawked”, he replied, shrugging softly. Karl chuckled softly.

“I mean, why are you here, honey?”, he asked. George frowned as Karl crouched down to George’s level on the swing.

“I has ackident”, George confessed. “In my bed.”

“Ah, that explains the sheets left on the staircase”, Karl replied. “But what really doesn’t explain why you wound up here.”

“..was scawed dat Dada be mad at me fo’ having ackident”, George mumbled. “I sowwy, Kawl.”

“It’s okay, little one”, Karl replied. “Let’s just get you home, okay?” Karl held his arms around and George jumped into them. Karl held George tight as he walked them both home.

--

“You know, Georgie, wetting the bed isn’t a bad thing”, Karl said, shaking up a warmed bottle of angel milk for the Little. “I know for a fact that your Dada has wet the bed on occasion.” George giggled softly. “And I have wet the bed before.” George gasped.

“Nuh-uh”, he replied. Karl nodded.

“For realsies”, he said. “Sappy has probably wet the bed too, we could ask him tomorrow.” George smiled and nodded, making grabby hands for the angel milk. “You think you can drink this on your own while I put the sheets and blankets in the washing machine?” George nodded and took the bottle of milk in his hands.

Karl gathered the bundle in his arms and took it to the laundry room, he dumped it in the washing machine and turned it on low. Karl sighed as he walked back to the kitchen.

“All done, bud?”, Karl asked. George nodded and handed the empty bottle to Karl. “Let’s get you out of those icky clothes now, okay?” Karl picked George up gently and took him to his room, setting him down on the bed. George whined when he saw Karl pick out a pull-up.

“No, no, p’ease”, George pleaded, pointing to the pull-up. “No need it.”

“Honey, I think you do need”, Karl replied. “This will just prevent you from having another accident in bed, okay?” George huffed but nodded. The two had an unspoken consent agreement a while back for changing times. Karl took off George’s pants and underwear and put him in a pull-up. “Would you like to wear one of my sleep shirts?” George nodded.

“Yes, p’ease”, he replied as Karl took his shirt off and put one of his own shirts on the Little. “Fank oo, Kawl.” Karl smiled. “S’eepy in hewe?” Karl nodded.

“If that’s okay with you, little man”, he said. George nodded and quickly got under the covers, and Karl followed suit. “Hey, Georgie, how did you have an accident in the bed, bud?”

“Has a nigh’mawe”, George replied, shrugging softly. “Ba’ one.” Karl frowned.

“I’m sorry you had a bad nightmare, bud”, he said. George cuddled closer to Karl. “Let's just go to bed, yeah? I’m right here if you feel scared.” George nodded and closed his eyes. Karl placed a protective arm around George and fell asleep too.
