Work Text:

The ceiling shook raining dust on you and you coughed as another explosion rocked the building.

Must be Baby 5, you mused. Your captors weren’t looking too confident anymore as they whispered among themselves and their leader kept sending out more and more people, the row of snails one by one going dead.

Getting kidnapped probably wasn’t one of your best moves, but you know—shit happens. You weren’t that concerned; you knew your family had your back. It was more embarrassing than anything else and the ribbing you were sure to receive would last for months.

Eventually the room emptied out until it was just you, sitting on the floor wrists weighed down with seastone cuffs, and the leader. He sat sweating and cursing trying to contact anyone, barking orders, back lined with tension and fear.

You watched despondently. For a moment you pitied him but it faded quickly into acceptance. Someone trying to get ahead by making a quick buck without realizing the ramifications of such an action wasn’t your fault and the consequences weren’t up to you.

The door blew open as a familiar laugh echoed through the room, bringing a smile to your face. The leader stood but before he could make a move, strings shot out and wrapped around his torso. His eyes met yours, fear and desperation pleading at you for help.

You smiled wider and brought up your cuffed wrists to wiggle your fingers in a wave before he was thrown—literally—through the window, the glass and wood shattering.

Doffy’s slouched frame finally stepped into the room, still giggling. You wiggled with excitement as his sunglasses gleamed in the light, his smile growing larger as he took you in.

“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” he came closer before crouching in front of you. “Seems like a stray dog wandered off.” Doflamingo placed a hand beneath your chin, long fingers pressed into your cheeks, pushing out your lips. “You’re too weak brat.”

“That’s why I have you,” you replied, forcing the words out between the pressure of his fingers. He released your face, giving you a calculating look. You grinned and held up your wrists. “Wanna get these off?”

Doffy snorted with amusement before reaching into a pocket and withdrawing a key. Silently he clicked off one cuff then the other as you watched. Once the cuffs clattered to the ground strong arms shot out and tugged you closer. You went willingly—not that you could fight back even if you wanted to, Doffy was much too strong for you—you relaxed into the familiar feeling of his embrace, your arms wounding around his torso.

“You had me worried there, love,” Doflamingo whispered in your ear, a confession meant for only you to hear. You rubbed your face into his collarbone, feathers tickling against your hair.

“I wasn’t, knew you’d come.”

“Mm,” Doffy settled back, pulling you with him as he sat cross-legged on the ground. You went limp as he positioned you between his long legs. “Did they hurt you?” Fingers roamed over your back and skittered across your ribs, making you twitch and giggle.

“No,” you said. Doffy’s brow furrowed as he frowned.

“Don’t lie, little boy.” He poked hard beneath your eye and a bloom of pain followed as you winced.

“Okay, okay. A couple cuts, nothing major though.”

The sun streaming in from the now-hole in the wall made it so you could just barely make out his eyes behind his sunglasses as they narrowed.

“I’ll deal with that later,” he growled with promise. You knew he meant the man now hanging out the window and said nothing. “For now, what are we going to do about this, hm?”

A thumb caressed the cut below your eye, breaking away the dried blood. You could feel the well of fresh blood start before being dragged down your cheek by his thumb. Doffy pulled away to lick the pad of his thumb, staring at you.

Before you could reply, one hand cradled your head forcing it into a tilt before the hand lifted, shining with a thread that just barely caught the light. Your eyes widened but you didn’t flinch as the thread lowered and quickly cut across your skin. You hissed as more blood began to trickle down.

“There,” Doffy said proudly. “Now it’s mine.” Bending lower his long tongue lolled out before licking a broad stripe across your cheek, catching the blood.

“Make sure to get seen when we get back, wouldn’t want to scar your lovely face,” he ordered casually as he straightened and you rolled your eyes.

“Yeah, will do.” You rolled onto your knees and pressed yourself tightly against his front, burrowing your face into the crook of his neck, hands sinking into feathers.

You felt more than heard Doflamingo sigh as his arms wrapped around you, clutching you as close as possible.

The two of you stayed like that for a long moment, just soaking in the presence of the other. You pulled back just enough to press a quick kiss against Doffy’s cheek and the man chuckled.

“Testing your luck?” He grinned wickedly but you weren’t scared in the slightest.

“You love it. Gimme kisses,” you presented your cheek to him.

Doffy threw his head back and laughed, hands clutched tightly in your shirt. Keeping you in place he indulged you by pressing a kiss against your cheek. You smiled brightly. He didn’t stop there, peppering your face with numerous kisses, over your cheeks, forehead, the tip of your nose, all of it making you laugh.

When he finally pulled away, you reached out with both hands to cup his cheeks and he nuzzled into one hand, placing a kiss on the palm.

“Now then, take me home, won’t you?” you said with a gleam in your eye.

“Fufufufufu, so cheeky. What a good little king you’ll make.” Doflamingo rose to his feet, easily taking you with him. You threw an arm around his shoulder as he held you with just one arm.

“I can walk,” you commented with a knowing grin.

“I should break your legs,” Doffy said thoughtfully. “Make it harder for you to wander off.”

“Hey! I didn’t wander off, they took me! And if you did, you wouldn’t be able to see me strut around!”

Doffy laughed again. “Suppose that’s true.”

He pressed a warm kiss against your temple and you felt invincible, loved by such a powerful man, who protected you and cared so much. You couldn’t wait to get home.
