Isn't she lovely?

Summary:

With one family not able to be present, and the other side not wanting to be there (at least not the one that would be able to give the bride away), the best friends step in to be there for both brides-to-be. Given that Ginny didn't want to pick from the brothers that were coming.

They were already there to be man of honor, why not walk the other bride to the aisle.

Work Text:

Luna smoothed the dress she was wearing as she stared into the mirror. Never had she believed that she would be standing there, that someone would want to marry her. That after everything she saw with her parents there would be someone out there that would be able to give her the same thing that they had.

She sighed as she fiddled with the necklace around her neck, the Deadly Hallows amulet that her father used to wear. The one thing he wanted her to have, next to ownership of the Quibbler, when he passed from his wounds sustained in the war.

She knew that it might not be appropriate wedding jewelry, but it was something passed down in the Lovegood family. To the point that during the war, her father had kept a hold on it to hope that all of this would be over soon. That she would be able to grow up without all of this around them.

Tucking the amulet under her dress, she sighed once more, pressing her lips together as she made her way to the door. Blinking as it opened to admit Tom, standing there as he took her in.

“You look beautiful, Luna.”

She beamed at the boyfriend of her best friend, of the best friend of her and he wife-to-be. Blushing as she looked at him in his dark red suit, it complimented his eyes in a way that was just the best thing to see. Looking behind him, she frowned at not seeing Harry.

“Where is Harry?”

Tom gave a gentle smile, “He’s walking Gin to the aisle, while I get the honor of doing the same thing to you, that is, if you’d allow me.”

Gaping at the man standing there, she took a tissue from the table to dabble under her eyes. She couldn’t believe that this was happening, that despite fearing that she would have to walk down the island alone, she wouldn’t need to do that. She would get to walk with one of her best friends, and Gin’s best man.

Gin, on the other hand, would be escorted by their best friend and her own man of honor. Their best friend, Harry, who had been there for them during this rough patch. Who had even helped planning and paying for the wedding seeing as Luna didn’t have any parents left to do that for her. While Gin’s were poor and had hoped that she would marry Harry instead of Loony Lovegood.

“I’d be honored, I… I don’t know what to say.”

“You don’t have to say anything, just let us be there for you on this big day.”

Grinning as he took her hand and fixed it into his elbow, making sure her make-up wasn’t smudged or otherwise imperfect.

Luna grinned right back, taking a deep breath before the door was pushed open towards the hallway. Tom led her out and glanced around the corner to make sure Harry and Gin were already further down. Only then did he take her along, smiling as soft music indicated that the bride (or brides in this case) were arriving.

Once at the minister’s desk, Harry and Tom switched places to be at the side of the person they were being a man of honor to. They pressed a soft kiss to their partner’s cheek as they passed, before settling at the side of Gin and her.

They didn’t look back at the people seated behind them. Not when a whole lot of those had come because Harry and Tom were going to be there. And in part because Luna had noticed Weasley Red hair, hoping that it was only Bill, Charlie and the twins with their partners. Those had been the ones to support them from the start, the others would just be there for the lavish wedding, and not in actual support of the soon-to-be married couple.

Glancing at Ginny, Luna blushed at the look on the other woman’s face. Wide eyes took her in, with Tom having to nudge Gin as it was her time to say her vows and slip a ring around Luna’s finger.

Luna on the other hand said her vows, the Lovegood way, before slipping a ring on Rinny’s finger and grinning as they were told to kiss as wedded wives. Feeling Ginny’s hand cup her cheeks she leaned forward to press their lips together in a sweet and chaste kiss.

Even with the chasteness of it, it didn’t take away the heat and the joy she felt at looking at her wife. Knowing that from today on, she would have a wife at her side to support her in everything that she did or wanted to do.

“I love you.”

Ginny grinned, before pressing close for one more kiss, sighing as she echoed that statement. Grinning as the room exploded in noise at their union. Ginny’s brothers come to congratulate her and to welcome her to the family.

They soon moved on to Harry and Tom, trying to whine at the two of them about the fact that none of them had been able to give Ginny away. Harry just rolled his eyes at that, as it had been said a few times. By picking Harry, Ginny didn’t have to choose between her brothers.

Smiling as the next couple of people came to wish them well, Luna felt her lips tense, just as Ginny tensed up beside her as Molly and Arthur Weasley appeared before them. The woman tried to hug them, but was quickly subdued by her husband.

“What are you even doing here?”

Looking at her wife as she was sneering at her parents, Luna took a hold of her hand, smiling sweetly at Ginny. Even when Molly Weasley seemed to be pulling a face at that, it would seem that the woman still hadn’t learned.

Feeling movement beside her, she looked to see Harry standing there, his eyes cold as he regarded the couple in front of them all.

He didn’t greet them, but did turn to Luna and Ginny, “I just got a call that the venue is ready for us, are we ready to leave?”

Giving one last look at her parents, Ginny nodded before taking Luna by the hand to lead her away. Not giving her parents a second glance as they made their way to the door. The venue would only accept those people that had an invitation. Molly and Arthur never got one, and wouldn’t be able to follow them there. This was their day, their wedding, and they planned on enjoying it to the fullest.

Once in the venue, their minds were taking off of the Weasley parents with the food that was being served. As well as the people who came to wish them all the best, giving them a gift to celebrate this joyous occasion.

And as she was swaying in the arms of her wife on the dancefloor, Luna couldn’t help but love how this was her life. How she had these amazing friends, who she could see dancing to their left, their faces tilted together and a sweet smile on their faces.

“Let’s enjoy our party, and our wedding night. I was able to get the destiny for our honeymoon from Harry.”

Lune beamed, before nodding. Laughing as they started dancing more automatically as the music changed. This would be the first part of the next chapter in their lives and they were looking forward to it.
