“Hey Alex?”
Alex looked up from their record player. “Yeah?”
Morgan was standing in the doorway, holding their custom World’s Okayest Landlord mug— a Christmas gift from Barnaby— in their hands. They looked half awake.
“If y’re such a big Taylor Swift fan,” Morgan asked sleepily, “why haven’t you ever tried talking to her?”
Alex gave their partner a look as if they were being ridiculous. “I might be a monster, but I have some boundaries,” They said, almost insulted. “She deserves her space.” A pause. “Especially from a mass murderer.”
“Hmm,” Morgan hummed, taking another sip of their drink. “So is that a yes or no on Thanksgiving, then?”
Alex had no idea where the fuck that came from. “What—?”
“She just texted inviting me to Thanksgiving at her house this year,” Morgan continued, as if Alex wasn’t stunned speechless. “She said I could bring my partner, so—”
“Morgan,” Alex said, cutting in. “When the fuck did you become friends with Taylor Swift?!“
Morgan blinked blearily at them. “Have I not told you the story, or—?”
“The story of how Taylor Swift became your friend? It might have slipped your mind.”
Morgan shrugged before finishing their drink. “Whoops. So yes or—”
“Of course,” Alex said, “I want to go to Taylor Swift’s house for a dinner party. That shouldn’t even be a question.”
Morgan gave them a bright— if half awake— smile before turning on their heel and walking away.
Alex stared after their partner. They learned something new about Morgan every day.
