Work Text:

It was a sunny day in the small town of Hawkins,Indianna.

Driving through the city you could hear the birds chirping, kids laugher and people going on about their day.
Those sounds were not something Edward”Eddie”Muson was used to hearing. Maybe if he wasn’t labeled as a “freak” throughout his teenage years in high school those sounds would have been something he was used to hearing instead of mocking voices of bullies and “cool” guys calling him names.

It felt weird being back here in this town ,who had him thought of as a satanic cult leader who led innocent children barely into their teen years towards the road to hell. Not that a lot of people would recognize him today .

He had foregone his Hellfire club shirt, which was back at his apartment in NYC framed and hanged in his living room wall , his dirt ripped jeans and long wavy hair . Instead , in their place was now a pink shirt, white baggy jeans and short hair that he had swept from the top of his head up until the back.
His tatts were still presentable and he wasn’t going to hide them . He was, is and always will be proud of them.

As he was driving, he glanced to his side to see Chrissy who was trying to find a radio station to listen to.
She had herself made some changes too. Gone were her shortly cut bangs and her pastel colorful make-up. Instead she had opted for long curtained bangs who hugged her face sweetly and a more earthly-coloured palette. She was wearing a long brown dress, which was something you could tolerate the Indiana sun in. More importantly, she had gained some weight too, which made her healthier.

Chrissy was nervous to be back in town. After leaving for college she never looked back. Her relationship with her mother was already strened but it ended for good the day of her graduation when Chrissy called her off about everything she had done.
She didn’t even want to come back, with the possibility of having to face her parents in such a small town, but she knew that today was a special day and how much it meant for Eddie.
So she went along, even if it meant having her face her worst fear, because she knew they, her and Eddie, would face it together as always.

Speaking of that day, they finally made it to the school grounds.

Hawkings high was full of students, who wore their graduation robes and laughed and talked along with their friends, finally happy that their high school years were over and a new chapter in their lives will soon be open.

While searching for Dustin and the others, Eddie noticed Steve and Max talking and Sinclair hugging her from her waist.mThat bastard did, thought Eddie and chuckled to himself. He and Chrissy greeted them and started conversing about what was going on with their lives lately .
Steve was still staying in Hawkings, but he was considering leaving town after a job offer was made by a high school in Oregon which needed a new gym instructor .

Robin had broken up with Vickie for over a month now, which was something he knew from mail. After finishing high school, Robin took a gap year wanting to discover more of her passions. Then she took up different languages in community college and now works as a translator for a worldwide company .

Nancy was now a journalist for a newspaper in Chicago while Jonathan, who he didn't know so well but presumed he was a good guy, was now working as a photographer for the Andy Warhol Foundation. These two had broken up after graduating high school but everyone knew that they were far from that.

As for the kids, they were graduating and none of them could believe it.

Eddie had already cried twice during their road trip here and Chrissy had packed at least 20 packages of tissues. As for Steve, his eyes and nose were already rosy and the ceremony hadn't even begun.

But Eddie had yet to see the one person that he came for.

Don’t get him wrong, he loves all of them, but Hederson has always had a special place in his heart.

They had kept in touch these four years. Always writing letters to each other and speaking on the phone for hours. In his last letter , Dustin told him about how he passed the mental of the Hellfire club down to the youngest Siclair, Erica , letting her look after the little sheeps and invited him to his graduation ceremony.

And then he saw him, talking with his mum and his friend Will who once had a bowl cut.

“Henderson! Henderson, right here!” he shouts.
And when he saw him , he ran straight to his arms, hugging him tightly

“You came.”

“Of Course I came. I wouldn’t have missed it for anything in the world .”said Eddie

“I told you, ’90 is going to be my year.”

“I know man, I know.”

And as the day went on, Eddie and the rest sitted and watched their loved ones graduate
“Will Byers”

“Dustin Henderson”

“Maxine Mayfield”

“Lucas Sinclair”

And as the names went on you could see everyone around being happy and excited.

And you could see Joyce hugging her child while crying and Hopper smiling and Jonathan taking pictures of them and Murray joking about how they would have the house on their own now that Will will be away for college.

And you could see Max hugging Steve and kissing Lucas and teasing him with Erica's help and Lucas' parents being happy about their son.

And you could see Steve and Eddie crying together while Dustin was up on stage and giving a speech and Chrissy and Robin hading them tissues and Dustin's mum crying and hugging him and Steve and Eddie hugging Dustin.

And maybe you couldn’t see or hear but Eddie and Steve telling Dustin:

“We love you man. ”
