Work Text:
Kim was done, so simply and he wanted nothing more then to scream it at anyone who dared to speak to him. He dropped on his seat, then got out his books, and placed the bag by his side on the seat, Max looking at his concerned.
“Are you ok, Kim?” Max asked, as he scooted closed.
“No.” Kim groaned.
“What’s wrong?” Max inquired, turning fully to look at his friend.
Kim didn’t reply, and Max took the hint. They sat straight and faced the front when the teacher entered. The teacher looked for a second at Marinette’s empty seat, before rolling his eyes and greeted the students. Kim tried to concentrate, as he wrote down notes, tapping his feet against the tiled floors.
History wasn’t his best subject to lay it out. He counted on Marinette to help him with this stuff, because she was in same class as him. She could explain the history in a way to make it easier for him - not some chunky events happened in the past and was led by dead people. Amazing, right?
“Kim, are you even listening?” The teacher called out, waking up the jock from his daydream, to find himself doodling in his notebook instead of writing notes.
“I am, sir.” He held his head high.
Marinette brust into the classroom, apologising several times to the teacher, proceeding to get to her seat with Alya. The teacher lightly scolded the teen, before turning to Kim again. The teacher analysed him, before waving him to sit back down. His teacher wasn’t the best, and he might had hated the fact a little bit.
When the history teacher turned around and faced the board, Kim received a note, Max handed it to him from Ivan. Kim looked confused at it, looking at the unmoving big teen. He sighed, opening the note, before his mouth took the shape of an O. shaking his head slightly, he put the note in his pencil case.
Kim got another note, but he didn’t bother looking at it, putting it with the others, then went back to his note writing. A feeling nagged at the back of his head, as another caressing he felt on his shoulder. He closed his eyes, refraining from rolling them. He rubbed his shoulder blade, breathing in and out deeply.
As soon as the lesson ended, he got out of the class, going to the next one on schedule. He didn’t really pause to talk to any of his friends. Likely, they weren’t in that class, he could get a breather, without them hounding him.
Kim sat at the back of class, where he usually sat. His pocket buzzed, and he rolled his eyes that time. It was soon over, and yet again, he had free time, he decided to go home for lunch when the break came. He groaned, as a surge of emotions hit him again, as he was eating his sandwich.
He glanced at the clock, feeling down enough to not attend, he messaged Max, telling him of the recent updates. Kim stood up, and made some tea for his upset stomach. His heart clenching, a surge of comfort washed over him when he felt the rub on his shoulder blade again. He rubbed it, before he took his tea and headed to his room.
After he finished his tea, he got out his homework to do, it didn’t take him long until he was putting it back in his bag, ready to hand out. Kim stood up and stretched, looking at his weights, he dropped to do some pushups, before he started to exercise. Although, he wasn’t aware when the front door opened, and an upset Marinette walked into hi room.
She cleared her throat, and he looked startled for a second before he composed himself again.
“What are you doing here?” He asked carelessly. “Don’t you have a date with Adrirn and Luka?”
“I do, but I wanted to see you first, you have been avoiding me, are you ok?” Marinette asked, as she watched him lifting weights.
“The bond is bothering me!” Kim said rashly, putting the weights down to the side, “It’s- it’s overwhelming, I don’t know what are my feelings from yours. I’m getting sick of it. Now you know what’s wrong. Just leave me alone.”
She stepped closer to him, throwing her arms around him, he embraced her, having no choice but to let her fall or hold her. His heart warmed, as she squeezed his tightly. He returned the hug, and his worries started to seep away. The he started to breath in her hair, and he only felt warmth everywhere, having no memory of a past distress.
“I was worried, Kim.” Marinette sobbed on his shoulder, wrapping her arms tighter around his neck. “I can’t believe you thought I’d leave you in time of need.”
“Sorry, Nette.” He whispered to her, rubbing her back comfortingly, as she started to let her tears go down.
“Did I do something wrong?” She sniffled, pulling back to look him in the eyes.
“No, no, Nette, you never do.” Kim rushed to say, “I just needed some space.”
Her mouth took a shape of an O, “Oh, goodness, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to push you.”
“It’s ok, I needed to let it out anyway, one way or another.” He rubbed the side of neck, still keeping the other arm around her.
“You can tell me anything, you know it.” Marinette wiped her tears away, not pulling out of his arm.
“It felt impossible, my mum still thinks we should just date while you are having the time of your life. I guess I just felt neglected.” He admitted, rubbing his forehead, ears turning red, as he always thought of her as a sister, he didn’t wish to pursue a relationship with Marinette but a platonic one.
“I never meant for you to feel like that, we are soulmates, we should care for each other more then anyone else. I failed you.” She started to tear up again, resting her head on his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his torso.
“You didn’t, Marinette. I also pushed you away.” Kim tried to comfort her. “If anyone is at fault, it’s me.”
“Kim, please.” She started to sob more, tears soaking up his hoodie.
“Hey, easy there.” He stroked her hair, he started to hum her favourite song in her ear. A song he used to put her to sleep with, rocking her into calmness.
Her tears stopped falling, but her nose was still runny and red, so were her cheeks.
“I’m really sorry, it was selfish of me, to not give you time. I knew the bond can be overwhelming.” Marinette apologised again, her thoughts going wild.
“Come on, let me drop you off to your date.” He gently cooed her.
“I can cancel it and have a movie marathon like we used to if you want.” She tiled her head up, while he shook his head.
“No, go meet your boyfriends, I’m good, you don’t have to do tat for me.”
“You sure?” She questioned, and he nodded in affirmation.
Half an hour later, he dropped her off the boat where Luka resides. Adrien going out to meet her at the front, kissing her cheek. Luka appeared shortly, to kiss her other cheek, Kim waved at Marinette and the boys, walking away to catch another bus.
As long as she’s happy.
