Chapter Text
Dazai and Chuuya have been married for 2 years, since they were 20. They had everything they could have wanted. A nice house, supportive friends, understanding bosses. Everything was perfect. That was until a few weeks ago. Chuuya has felt like there is something missing in their home. It was quiet, even though Dazai whines everyday, there is just this sense of something missing. Or more like someone. That's when he came to a realization. He wants a child.
He didn't know what to do with that realization. Should he tell Dazai? What if he refuses? Would he hate him? No, this is Dazai, not some random person. But what if he says yes but doesn't actually want one. That's what has been on Chuuyas mind for the past few weeks.
Today he and Dazai were on a walk in the park, they both had a day off (or so Chuuya thought), something that Chuuya doesn't get that often considering he is an executive in the port mafia. Dazai doesn't either-
“Wait, do you actually have the day off today, or are you just slacking off again, Osamu.” Chuuya asked as they sat down on a bench that was facing a pond, Dazai wrapping an arm around his shoulders, pulling them closer together. “Whatever do you mean Chibi? I never slack off-” Dazai's phone started to ring before he could finish. He pulls out his phone and looks down at the caller ID. It was Kunikida. Staring blankly at his phone, Dazai declinds the call and slides it back into his pocket.
As soon as he let go of his phone, it started to ring again. “You should probably answer it before you get in trouble.” Chuuya states. With a sigh, Dazai answers the phone, stretching his arm away from them as far as he could, pulling it far away from his ear.
“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU DAZAI!!!” Kunikida screams from the other side of the phone. “YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE EXACTLY 45 MINUTES AGO!”
“Yeaaa, about that… I tripped and lost my memories for today, so I wont be able to navigate back to the agency.”
“BUT YOU JUST MENTIONED THE AGEN–!” Dazai hung up his phone before the blond could continue.
“Workaholics, am I right?”
“Uh-huh, you should have gone to work.” With a gasp, Dazai retracts his arm away to face him with a shocked face. “Do you really want me to go to work on one of your days off? Do you really want to spend today all by yourself without the person you love by your side-?” Chuuya cut him off with a kiss. “No, but what if they fire you?” They stare at each other before bursting out in laughter.
“You can be very funny sometimes, Slug.” Dazai says as he wipes a tear from the corner of his eye.
“Likewise Shitty Mackerel.” He chuckled. They stared at the pond in a comfortable silence for a bit before Chuuya heard something. A family of 4. Two kids and their parents, all of which were giggling and laughing.
Chuuya was picturing how it would be to have a kid or two running around, playing, smiling, having fun and doing what kids their age should do without a care in the world. Something that Dazai and him were not able to have as kids.
Dazai stands up and offers his hand to the still sitting ginger. “So, shall we head home, Petit Mafia?” The ginger took his stretched out hand and stood up with the brunet's help. “Okay” a gentle smile gracing his lips.
They arrived at their house 15 minutes later. Dazai walked in front to open the door, but Chuuya stopped him by keeping hold of his hand and staging in place, “Hey Dazai '' he asked a bit quicker than he intended to come out. The brunet turned around to give Chuuya his full attention, waiting as Chuuya tried to compose himself, sensing the seriousness in his tone of where this conversation was going “Yea? What is it Chuuya?”
The mafioso just looked down at his feet while he let go of the tallers hand when he knew he wouldn't continue walking, starting to twiddle with his hands. “Well, you see… the thing is…'' he started but didn't know how he should continue. A few moments passed before Chuuya took a deep breath and looked up, a found motivation in his eyes as he looked up at Dazai, “Lets adopt.”
Dazai stared wide eyed at Chuuya. He was about to answer before Chuuya continued “If you don't want to adopt, then I understand and wont hold it against you-.” He didn't notice Dazai had walked closer to him and pulled him into a warm and gentle hug.
“Don't be so nervous for saying something you want,” Dazai said, pulling away. “I'm kinda offended that you thought you couldn't tell me something like this for a while.”
“You knew?”
“Well, it's kinda difficult not to notice you spacing out every time something child-related happens around us for the past few weeks.” Dazai says as he leaned down to rest their foreheads together, the shorter reddening in embarrassment for not being as secretive as he thought.
“How about we continue this talk inside over a cup of tea.” Chuuya just nodded, not saying a word. Dazai just takes hold of his hand, opens the door and leads them inside, closing it behind them.

Chuuya sat on the sofa while Dazai made the tea. Dazai's answer outside was positive, right? Or else he wouldn't have said something like that with a smile. Chuuya thought to himself, not paying attention to the things around him and didn't notice Dazai walking towards him with their cups of honey lavender tea.
The brunet had sat down next to him before he noticed his presence, handing him his cup of tea. “It's honey lavender, to help you calm down.” Dazai said “Thanks.” was all he could say as he accepted the cup and took a sip, singing in relief.
“Do you want to continue what you were saying outside?” The taller of the two said, smoothing the shorters back.
“...Lately, I've been feeling like there is something missing, like our home is too quiet, even with your constant whining and shenanigans.” Dazai just giggles at the last part, “What can I say? I know how to get Chibi’s attention.” He says as he pecks his cheek.
“So, about your adoption statement from earlier.” Dazai says, grabbing the cup from Chuuya's hands and putting their cups of tea down on the coffee table, grabbing his hands after and staring into each other's eyes. “I would love to adopt with you. ”
Chuuya's breath hitches “R-really? You're not just saying that because I want to?” The ginger looked uncertain on Dazai's answer. “I'm sure,” he said, lacing their fingers together.
“Now, do you want to stay here and keep on asking me if ‘i'm sure’, or do you want to go with me to the computer and see what needs to be done and prepared before we are able to adopt.”
With a soft smile forming on Chuuya's face, they both grab their tea, stand up and go to the computer in their shared bedroom.
