Chapter Text

Kate grabbed the stair railing as she heaved herself up, clutching her bleeding stomach.

“Ugh, why does this always happen to me” she groans to herself.

A jumble of curses slips from her mouth as she hears yelling and rushed footsteps coming from behind her. The guards that she was desperately trying to escape are now gaining on her.

Kate pushes off the railing and starts to stumble up the stairs to a desolate hallway. Once there, she starts to limp towards the end of the corridor.

“THIS WAY” a rough Russian accent yells from behind her, followed by swift, hard steps in her direction.

‘Shit’ she thinks to herself as she stumbles onto the ground, her' wound now bleeding even more due to the harsh movements. She looks down to her abdomen and lifts her shirt to see if she can stop the bleeding somehow. What she didn’t expect to see was a long bloody cut from her left hip to her right lowest rib.

It’s deep. Too deep.

As she pushes her hand more forcefully onto it to stop the blood flow, the opposite happens as even more blood begins to spill through her fingers and onto the floor. Causing a wet dripping sound.

“Fuckkkk” she painfully groans, “why does this have to happen on Christmas, not fair!”

She sharply turns to look behind her, towards the stairs she just came from as guards start to run up them and look at her.

“THERE SHE IS” one of them yells, “GET HER!”

They raise their guns and knives as they slowly walk towards her, ready for a fight. What they don’t know is that Kate really isn’t in the mood for this as she’s slowly bleeding out and losing consciousness.

In the spur of the moment, she leaps toward a random guard and grabs his gun. Turning it and shooting him in the head. A loud drop is followed by a wet squelch sound as the man drops to the floor face first with blood leaking out of the rather large cavity in his head.

She looks down at him but quickly remembers the other guards when a bullet finds its way into her right arm, going right through her bicep and leaving a hole in its wake. Another shot sounds as her left leg drops suddenly when another bullet pierces her flesh, right in her thigh.

“Oh, shit” she whispers as she falls to the ground in sudden agony. A white harsh pain spreads through her body as she’s suddenly grabbed by two meaty hands, one hand squeezing her recent injury in her arm. A pained groan escapes her mouth as those hands start to drag her back in the direction she just ran from.

Her head lolls towards the ground and drool starts to escape her mouth as she’s dragged across the grainy and rough cement, her body feeling like a useless weight tying her down rather than her actual body. Even her hands betray her as it refuses to lift even a finger. The exhaustion and pain finally settle in her body now that she's stopped having to walk.

A couple of voices sound around her, although only one pierces the air enough for her to realize what it's saying.

“Take her to the infirmary and get her patched up” a deep, smooth voice sounds somewhere around her. She doesn’t know where as her eyes have closed and she’s barely hanging onto consciousness, her stubborn body refusing to give in to sleep no matter how inviting it sounds.

“Yes sir,” a muffled voice says from somewhere else.

She resumes being dragged but as they start to take her back down those stairs, a hand grasps her stomach to heave her up. A loud pained gasp leaves her mouth. No matter how hard her body fought to fight off sleep it had to give in to the amount of pain being received by Kate.

She slowly stops hearing the sounds around her and stops feeling the pain. A blissful sleep encompasses her and she succumbs to its comfort.
