Chapter 1: Pete

Chapter Text

“Get in line!”

Pete grumbled under his breath as he man-handled Porsche to stand next to him. Porsche fidgeted with his uniform before pocketing his hands when Pete swatted them.

“Why are we in a line?” Porsche leaned to see other bodyguards line up as well.

“Today the minor family is having a meeting here.” Pete tried to keep the happiness out of his voice. Porsche maybe new and little slow, but he could not risk anyone knowing about him and Vegas. Pete was after all supposed to stay away from Vegas, heir of the minor family, born rival to Kinn, loyal to his father and a threat to the main family. And he had, until he was assigned to Tankhun.

Tankhun had sent him off to the minor family household to retrieve a movie boxset as a part of his hazing ritual. Tankhun regrets it till date since that resulted in Pete and Vegas dating. It is unconventional and a love story like no other.

How was he supposed to tell his future kids how he met their father; Getting caught by a teen Vegas as he sneaked into the room and detained in his bedroom to prevent other guards or his father from finding out and eliminating that someone from the main family who had broken into their house, being forced to befriend and cohabit made them fall in love. Not the usual romcom experience. As he watched him at his most vulnerable, saw the real Vegas- abused by his own father, raising his baby brother and struggling with thai alphabets- changed Pete’s life. And seeing Pete never judge him, try to understand him, stay despite everything and help out however he could, but most importantly trust that he won’t hurt him had Vegas falling to his knees for Pete. And the rest was history.

“Ah.. the minor family. I think I saw them in the presentation. He’s Khun Korn’s younger brother right?”

Pete nodded, “Yes, Khun Kan. He’ll be joining today’s meeting and is a V.I.P guest.” Pete hoped Vegas would join as well, maybe bring Macau around. It’s been a while since he saw the kid.

“That’s good.” Porsche smiled, “Two families helping each other out.” If only Porsche knew about the cold war between the two. Pete should probably give him some background.

“I don’t know about that.”

“Why not?”

Pete shrugged, where should he even start. The sound of wheels drew his attention to the fleet of cars entering the compounds. He nudged Porsche to stand straight and tall. He shushed him as he whistled at the fancy cars. Kan stepped out of the first car, giving the guards a once over before striding in. “That’s Khun Kan” Pete bowed. He barely rose his head when he felt Vegas before he saw him, head whipping right away to catch the glinting eyes and smirk as Vegas brushed them.

“And that is Khun Vegas, the oldest son, positioning as Khun Kinn.” Pete felt like he was in one of those Hollywood highschool movies, that Tankhun binged one weekend, as he introduced Vegas like he was the hot but dangerous resident bad boy of the school. He shot Vegas’s back another look. It kinda fit.

“Who did he smile at?” Porsche cocked his head to a side.

Pete cursed internally; he’s told Vegas to pretend like he can’t see him before the main family several times. “How would I know?” He asked irritably. Which is probably what prompted Porsche to crack a smile and tease him, “Since you look so handsome, I think he smiled at you.” Pete gave into the smile and indulged Porsche, “Of course.” Dating in secrecy is hard.
