Just as Eddie starts to melt back into it, the phone buzzes again. Just as loud. Just as fucking insistent.
Eddie rips his mouth away with a frustrated sound, glaring down at where the phone is tucked away. “Seriously?”
Buck cringes as the buzzing continues. “Sorry. I’ll turn it off.”
He reaches into his pocket, but by the time it’s out, the call has timed out. Buck’s finger goes to hover over the lock button to shut the device off, but then the screen lights up again. Same buzzing. Same ringtone. This time, Tommy’s face and name flash brightly on the screen.
Eddie’s jaw clenches, hand still tightly fisted in Buck’s hair. “Answer it.” He says before he can stop himself.
Buck's head snaps up to look at him, eyes frantic and expression puzzled. “W-what? Now?”
“Buck,” Eddie says, voice firm and insistent, leaning in to ghost a kiss along Buck’s cheek. “Answer the phone.”

Summary
Buck awoke in the back of an ambulance, Hen and Eddie working tirelessly to stabilize him. In a fleeting moment of lucidity, he managed to convey his jumbled thoughts to them. "So glad... to have met you all... you're my family. Love you..." The words hung in the air, a testament to the strength of their connection.
But the fragile moment of solace shattered as he drifted back into the abyss, his heart rate plummeting. Panic gripped Eddie's heart, his voice a desperate plea as he begged Buck to wake up, to come back to him and Chris. Trying to keep his tears at bay, he jumped over Buck's body, desperately performing CPR.
"Please, Buck, come back to us! You can't leave us like this!" Eddie's voice trembled with emotion as he fought to keep Buck alive.
