wherever you stray, I follow (I’m begging you to take my hand)

After storming out of the Grant-Nash residence, Buck found himself speeding down the freeway. He had no destination in mind, but he wanted to put distance between him and Bobby. He needed to get out of Los Angeles. There was no one in L.A. he could turn to. Everyone from work – Hen, Chimney, and Eddie – would side with Bobby, and his sister wanted him to get a new job.

After thirty minutes, Buck found himself on I-10 headed, following the signs to Las Vegas. He hadn’t been to Vegas in years. Vegas sounded like a wonderful distraction. Besides, it wasn’t like he had a job to hurry back to in L.A. He could spend as long as he wanted in Vegas. With a plan in mind, Buck found it a little easier to breath. He turned the volume up as he picked up speed.

Nearly three hours later, Buck found himself walking into a casino. He couldn’t remember which one. He drove around the Strip for a little before randomly picking a casino. He left the Jeep with the valet, sticking the ticket in his pocket as he walked inside.

Looking around the casino floor, Buck’s eyes fell on an attractive silver-haired man sitting at a table. He was attractive with a muscular build with neatly styled silver hair, a five o’clock shadow, and dark eyes. From the distance, Buck could tell the man was frowning. He was too attractive to frown.

A second later, the man met Buck’s gaze.

They stared at each other for a moment.

The man smirked, inclining his head with a silent invitation.

Without a second thought, Buck found himself walking towards the man.

“Blow,” the man ordered, holding up the dice.

“What are you rolling for?” Buck asked.

“Hundred on eleven,” the man said, leaning toward Buck. He moved the dice closer.

Buck blew on the hand.

The man smirked before throwing them. “Let’s see your luck,” he stated.

A few seconds later, the dice landed on four and seven.

“You headed anywhere?” the man asked, wrapping an arm around Buck’s waist.

Looking into the man’s green eyes, Buck felt his mouth go dry. “Nowhere,” he whispered.

The man looked pleased. “Let me buy you a drink, gorgeous,” he said before signaling a passing waitress.

Wordlessly, Buck nodded. It had been ages since he hooked up with a man that was this forward. It was an excellent change.

Realizing he missed the entire exchange between the man and the waitress, Buck said, “Make it two.” Hopefully this drink wasn’t anything sugary sweet.

The man’s green eyes flashed. “What should I call you, gorgeous?” he whispered in Buck’s ear.

Buck shivered.

The man hummed. “You like that, don’t you, gorgeous?” he asked.

Unable to stop himself, Buck nodded.

The man smirked before catching Buck’s mouth in a heated smile. “I need a name, gorgeous,” the man muttered against his lips.

“E-Evan,” he replied, “or Buck.”

The man hummed. “Which?”

“Both, either,” he answered. “Name’s Evan Buckley, but everyone calls me Buck.”

The man nodded before pressing another kiss to Buck’s lips. “I think I’ll save Evan for later ,” he stated.

Nodding, Buck agreed, feeling a spark of desire.

“I’m Kelly,” the man whispered.

A moment later, the waitress returned with two drinks.

Buck’s eyes lit up when he was handed a double whiskey. He took a sip, enjoying the smoky taste. He hummed in appreciation.

“Careful,” Kelly whispered, his voice heated. “I wanna save that for later. I need your luck, gorgeous.”

Buck nodded before quickly downing his drink.

The next few hours passed at the craps tables. Buck barely noticed the time pass as he drank whiskey between kisses and whispers. He blew on the dice each time Kelly brought them to his lips.

“Can I keep you?” Kelly asked before capturing Buck in another kiss. “I need you to stay with me.”

Drunk on alcohol and Kelly, those words went straight to Buck’s heart. That’s all he wanted – someone to keep him and let him stay. “Yes,” he responded.

Kelly smiled. “Promise?”

“Yes,” he answered.

Kelly pulled him into another kiss.

“Are you rolling?” the dealer asked.

Pulling away, Kelly shook his head. “We’re done,” he stated.

The dealer nodded.

Buck turned, grabbing two handfuls of chips. “Where to next?” he asked.

“Let’s cash out,” Kelly said, pulling Buck into another kiss. “I need you upstairs, gorgeous.”

Buck quickly agreed.

The pair walked to the front of the casino and got in line.

“How long are you here?” Kelly asked.

Buck shrugged. “Not sure,” he answered. “I needed to get out of L.A. and away from everything.”

“L.A.?” Kelly repeated with a frown. “I live in Chicago.”

Buck felt his heart sink. So much for not letting him go.

“I can’t leave Chicago,” Kelly stated. “Anything tying you to L.A.?”

“No,” Buck answered. “Nothing.”

Kelly’s eyes lit up. “Come back to Chicago with me?” he asked.

“Yes,” Buck answered. There were plenty of firehouses in Chicago. Hopefully he could transfer or something. “I just quit my job, and my captain won’t help me get my old one back.”

“Captain?” Kelly said with a raised eyebrow. “You a cop or a firefighter?” His hands squeezed Buck’s ass. “This is a work of art.”

Buck lost count of the number of times he found his mouth dry tonight. “Firefighter,” he replied.

Heat entered Kelly’s eyes. “Me too,” he said, pulling Buck into another kiss.

Buck found himself opening his mouth to Kelly’s searching tongue.

The pair pulled apart for air.

“I can’t wait to get you upstairs,” Kelly said against Buck’s lips.

“Next!” called the teller.

Kelly took a step back before he walked up to the teller, pulling Buck with him.

The chips were quickly exchanged for money.

“You’re a lucky charm, gorgeous,” Kelly told Buck, pressing a quick peck to his lips. “I’m definitely keeping you.”

“Please,” Buck begged.

Kelly smirked. “Slight change of plans,” he declared, pulling Buck towards the entrance. “We’re getting married.” Pulling Buck close, he devoured his lips in another kiss.

“Yes,” Buck agreed.

Without another word, Kelly and Buck headed to the Strip, looking for a chapel.
