Chapter Text
Huntsman sat in his web, staring at the teabag in his hand. The smell was faint, a relief to his nose considering how he hated the smell of tea being strong. The river demon’s brand mocked him, a bright smile on the little cartoon.
He shuddered thinking about the strong fist that held his, his hand so small in big blue’s. The way he showed his power but…he had so much control…so much mercy towards him. The earth broke around him but he never hurt Huntsman.
The spider flopped back onto his web with a sigh, the strong string bouncing under the impact. He curled to his side and took a small sniff of the tea. The hair on the back of his neck rose when he could faintly smell the tea and the sea salt, Sandy’s scent.
He hid his face from the world and pulled the fluffy hood over his head. Sandy asked him questions no one would’ve asked him, he showed him power and control no one ever showed him, he gave him an opportunity of friendship despite getting beat.
–
It was about midnight when Huntsman snuck out of the lair. He scuttled to find a water source and start a fire to boil the water. Curiosity got to him and he wanted to try the tea.
He was crouched in an alleyway, shivering slightly by the fire as he boiled the water in a pot he swiped from the lair. His head hit the wall gently as he sighed. What was Huntsman doing? Accepting the enemy’s gift? Even going as far as to make it and drink it?
He was in too deep. Too late to turn back now as he poured the now boiling water into the mug and let the tea steep. The silence of the alleyway was interrupted by footsteps. Sneakers, big ones, heavy. He kicked the fire out and snuck back into the shadows with his mug, glaring at the entrance.
A large river demon looked into the alleyway, eyebrow raised at the noise he heard. Sandy looked around for a bit.
Huntsman’s shoulders went lax for a second before tensing again. Why did he even relax!? The enemy was right there! His grip tightened around the mug, waiting for Sandy to leave. The river demon eventually shrugged and left.
Huntsman let out a sigh of relief and he stared at the tea, blowing on it gently before taking a sip. His eyes went wide at the taste, it was good. The smell wasn’t too strong so it didn’t affect the experience negatively. He took another greedy drink until it was all gone.
The spider looked at the end of the alleyway and rushed out, looking for the river demon. Said demon was at the end of the street and about to cross it. Huntsman rushed after Sandy and climbed onto the walls, going into stealth mode by making his way to the rooftops and following Sandy.
The spider followed Sandy to the pier and to a houseboat. He hopped off the roof and stared at the boat. He wanted more tea. But he wasn’t going to ask his enemy for tea! That was stupid.
He huffed and clicked a button on his hip, retracting the mechanical spider legs. He made his way onto the deck of the boat and slipped in through a window. Huntsman tested every floorboard ahead of him for a creak before stepping forward, making his way cautiously through to the kitchen.
Huntsman opened the cabinets one by one, sniffing them until the faint tea smell hit him. He reached in and grabbed a few, shoving them into his pockets. He was so close to finishing his mission.
A ring of a bell and movement against his leg. He froze and slowly looked down at the blue cat. The cat purred and meowed. Huntsman shoved the remaining tea into his pockets and shushed the cat.
The cat spun in a circle and meowed again, stretching against his leg. “Hey- Hey down-” Huntsman pushed the cat gently. He would’ve flung the cat across the room but this was a stealth mission and if Sandy found his cat hurt then Huntsman would fucking die.
A loud shuffle from the hallway alerted Huntsman as he bolted for the window. Hopping out of it and into the water below.
“Mo? What’re you doing out of bed?” Sandy said, picking up the cat. “Why’s the window open?” He shut the window and Huntsman came up for air, coughing and quickly throwing the tea out of his pockets, pouting at how wet they got.
–
Sandy looked out the window, it was a beautiful night. Movement in the water alerted him and he saw the spider from before, soaking wet and throwing tea bags out of his pockets. Wait, those were Sandy’s tea bags.
The river demon smiled, sure he just got robbed but he was pleased to know Huntsman liked the tea.
