Notes:

this story is basically me coming up with Mayor backstory, applying headcanons, giving him a redemption arc, etc
the spiders are also involved with the redemption and Sandy is helping them the entire time

there will also be some irl Chinese history references as well as me trying to understand the culture as best as i can since im an American and dont wanna be disrespectful, im also just happy to learn
so if anyone has stuff they wanna share about Chinese history or culture im happy to listen!

also please do tell me if theres a tag i havent put in that should be put in for the contents of the story as this is my first time writing a fanfiction here that isnt a one shot i wrote before posting it
constructive criticism on character writing, typos, incorrect usage of words, or just the writing in general is greatly appreciated and it is encouraged

if you read this much my note thank you for reading and i hope you have a wonder day/night :D

Chapter 1: No one

Chapter Text

The Mayor could hear laughing, he could hear muffled voices, he could hear the wind blowing so violently that he felt his clothes thrashing against his body, it was all so overwhelming.

The laughter shifted to talking, a voice so familiar, the one that held him prisoner guided him for years. She was mocking someone, none of her words translated in his head, he couldn’t hear her voice bouncing around his skull even if she was talking in person, but he agreed with every single statement and insult she flew at someone.

Time blurred as the person she wanted apparently disappeared. His vision slowly came back to him, double vision and spinning, his hand twitched and his grip tightened on the gravel below him.

He groaned as his elbow bent to pick himself up, he might not have the same power his lady gave him but he’ll still help her.

The world went black.

The Mayor gasped sharply as he was grabbed at the collar, his vision gathering enough to see a monkey with black fur and a red patch across his face. The monkey spoke, but he couldn’t hear it well, it came out as muffled speaking with ringing from the sudden silence.

He could see 5 people gathered in a room, staring at the monkey. The monkey spoke before lifting his arm and letting The Mayor fall to the ground. Next thing he knew he was bundled up in rope, giggling.

These fools wanted to know how to defeat her, they were such idiots. No one could beat his lady! Not even him! Words apparently weren’t filtered between thought and speech as he told them all how he met her and what her one true goal was.

No one told him to stop, no one made him stop, there was no one to control his thoughts and words. It made him feel nauseous, but he kept the confident facade up. He couldn’t show weakness lest it stain his lady’s name.

They asked how Sun Wukong defeated his lady the first time, he shouldn’t have said it but he did. He remembered the day.

His lady avoided death 3 times and captured the Great Sage, Tripitaka, rumored to make one immortal through consuming his flesh.

She lost the Great Sage. He watched her go through the stages of grief within months.

He was pulled to the side. “I’m going to be gone-” The next words were static in his mind- “Which means you’ll be alone. My destiny will not be stopped though, this is simply a step closer towards it. My future requires you to stay alive long enough to free me and bring me to power.” She held her hand out to him, a stone fruit, “Eat this, now. Blend in with the world, obtain a high position, carry out the instructions I will list to you every year.”

He simply nodded with a determined look in his unusually blue eyes. He ate the fruit and felt his years fade to eternity.

His lady.

His lady was.

She was dead.

She was gone.

He could feel it in his literal bones. The cold blood surrounding his bones warmed and he shivered, he felt lightheaded and sick to his stomach.

He was shoved into the van with them, not trusting him alone. He could only hear what happened but couldn’t see anything. He went limp in the back of the van, shallow breaths leaving his mouth. He trembled like a leaf as his eyes faded to an old brown.

His breathing quickened, his body felt…human. It was disgusting. The power he had was taken from him, strength leaving his muscles, speed drained. His mind was rushing with questions and panicked statements that his lady would never let him think.

He was free.

It made him feel weak.

No.

It made him weak.

He faded from consciousness as the big blue guy noticed him.

Mayor. He was made the Mayor of this city. His name faded from his mind over the years.

He sat at his desk, staring at the door, his mind was empty, awaiting his lady's orders. He was supposed to give others orders but it felt so wrong every time.

“Give him the key.” His body filled with the familiar cold, mind crowded with the single command. His eyes glowed blue as his gaze turned to the TV, the Monkie Kid had saved the city once more, just on a larger scale. Without moving his head, he kicked open a trapdoor under his desk, under it was a keypad.

He bent under the desk and punched in the code, dust poofed out from the opening and he pulled out a box.

When he opened it, he felt the familiar and welcome whispered, the eerie cold dripped into his blood and surrounded his bones. His lady would soon meet her destiny and he would be there to help her.

The Mayor opened his eyes and was immediately met with the Spider Queen and her minions. They all were passed out cold. His body tensed around the ropes still tying him down.

He strained against the ropes, trying to grow in size like he used to but to no avail. He tried to use strength to rip it but that didn’t work either. His legs kicked helplessly as he attempted to stand up, but he only succeeded in falling out of the open back of the van.

He could hear talking and laughing, the clicking of chopsticks against porcelain bowls, the crackle of a fire and boiling of water. He could also hear the thud as he made contact with the ground and the groan he let escape.

The big blue guy from before rounded corner, “Oh! You’re up!” He loomed over the Mayor, it was horrifying.

The Mayor tried to shuffle away but was picked up by the hulking…man? Honestly he didn’t know what the hell that guy was but he didn’t wanna piss him off or be near him.

He thrashed in the blue’s hold and let out only grunts, deciding not saying anything was better than spilling everything he knew. He struggled until he was plopped down next to the warm fire, then promptly fell backwards.

The voices went quiet as he sat up, groaning and trying to stretch. All eyes were on him, and he only glared back at them.

A bundle of noodles were offered to him, held up to his mouth like he was a toddler! They weren’t his lady, they killed his lady and he’ll be next! He spat on the food and turned his head away. An offended gasp was heard and pissed off grumbling.

“How dare you! Now you’re eating these noodles right now or I’m shoving them down your gullet, or you’re going to starve!” The pig demon shoved the noodles more in the Mayor’s face, who only ‘hmph’ed in response and turned more and more away.

The Mayor was suddenly grabbed by the head and forced to turn towards the noodles as they got forced into his mouth. He choked and spat them out, hacking and coughing until he had cried. “What the hell is wrong with you!? I could’ve fucking died you cretin!” He shouted angrily.

“You eat these noodles or you’ll choke on them!” Another shove into his mouth. This time, the Mayor just swallowed without chewing, they slid down his throat with ease and he held back the pure euphoria the noodles brought to not only his stomach but to his taste buds.

He was force fed the entire bowl by the angry pig demon. He felt sick by the end of it, he hadn’t eaten that much since…since… Well he’ll be damned, he couldn’t remember. But that didn’t matter! The bastards in front of him killed his lady and should all be 6-feet-under, not her!

The Mayor growled at the party and glared at them all, but they all ignored him as they continued on after the pig sat down.

The man sat there, his entire being seeped with hatred as he was forced to listen to how happy they were. They didn’t deserve to be happy. Not when they just took a life. A life that would’ve made the world pure, perfect, clean of any dirt. They weren’t heroes, they were villainous monsters.
