Chapter Text
Purple and gold clashing with each other was the first thing anyone would see if they were to witness this battle, the debris along with the dust of any broken stones or rocks made it harder to see a bit but it didn't break his focus from the battlefield.
He knows he was only made to fight what the shadow monkey threw at them and what he threw was his own version of a clone…sometimes some kicks here and there but it was mostly clones poofing into hair or just dissolving back into the shadows.
He could see in the corner of his vision that other clones were fighting and tearing each other until their opponent was poofed into hairs or shadowy substance that would sink into the ground.
The clone was going to go back into the battle when he was harshly tackled by a shadow clone and then fell backwards onto the hill that made them roll downwards, when they finished rolling the shadow just pounced forward which didn’t give the hair clone enough time to think.
Both of the clones were beginning to scuffle on the ground, at times the shadow was on top of the other clone but sometimes their positions changed so the other was the one on top and they didn’t stop fighting at all…made sense since their life depended on it even if they were both gonna be disposed of after the battle like the rest.
The scuffle ended with the shadow on top of the other but the hair clone had both of his hands intertwined with the other so the shadow couldn’t cause any massive damage to him for the time being, it was a waiting game to see who would falter in their strength or lose focus so the opposing clone to get the advantage.
The fake Wukong could only stare at the other and internally curse at himself for not being as strong as his creator, he may be a gods clone but that didn’t mean he could be equally as strong as them since some clones tended to a bit disobedient and just run off or try to fight the real Sun Wukong…which caused the original to modify his clones.
The hair clone could only stare at the shadow clone as they both struggled with the other’s determination to not lose their focus, the more he stared at the shadow the more they seemed more pretty and handsome to them-oh gods his creator's feelings were affecting him! Why did he think that the shadow was handsome…and pretty?!
Fake Wukong could feel some barely noticeable blush growing on his face and it was embarrassing, to say the least but that didn’t mean he lost his focus from his grip, he just really hoped the fake shadow didn’t have good eyesight and wasn’t paying too much attention to his facial features.
“You know if we weren’t trying to uh…murder each other, I would say this would be hot,” the rusted furred monkey said and then he realized what he said, oh how he wished that the shadow above him would kill him.
“Wha….are you mentally alright!?” The shadow just said with slight concern and the other wouldn’t blame them since what he said really came out of nowhere but he really wished he could just poof out of existence right now like seriously someone kill him because he doesn’t wanna go through this.
“I...I’m fine, why do you ask?”
“Because you seriously said this whole situation is hot to you!”
“I mean having a beautiful shadow trying to murder me is the best thing I could see before I die”
And there was pure silence now, he blamed his creator for his slight feelings towards the shadow and he was correct cause his creator aka the real Sun Wukong won’t talk about the issues but yet again the real Macaque didn’t want to talk and just wanted to uh murder the celestial monkey.
The silence was awkward and the hair clone was about to say an apology but then the shadow above him started to softly laugh for a few seconds, he also started to laugh cause this situation was hilarious and the shadow was laughing a lot more now.
Before the clone could speak the shadow quickly pinned his wrists above his head when he was distracted, which left him a bit surprised but he wasn’t lying about having to be killed by a handsome shadow.
“Alright, real funny but I’m not sorry for what’s going to happen next”, the shadow said in a sarcastic tone while staring at the fake monkey below him.
Was he really gonna die like this? Killed by a really handsome shado- GOD DAMN IT, HE BLAMES WUKONG FOR THIS! Why did the original have pushed down feelings for the black furred monkey!? It was messing with his brain more than his creator trying to read a 482 page book!
Before he could think and act on flight or fight response, the rusted furred monkey swiftly hit the shadows face with his forehead which ultimately made the dark clones grip loosen and fall back but the hair clone kicked them in the chest for good measure, cause they may be an attractive shadow but that didn’t mean he’ll let them poof him into nothing.
“You! YOU LITTLE-“ The shadow held a hand to their nose as they spoke, they were a bit out of breath which was expected since he kicked them in the damn chest and their tone was filled with irritation but that quickly changed when the shadows face went from an angry expression to a shocked one.
The hair clone was a bit confused from the sudden change of expression until he saw what made the other surprised, the shadow pulled their hand away from their nose and there was a strange black liquid on it.. that wasn’t normal since if a clone took too much damage they’d just disappear so a clone having something that mimicked blood was concerning.
He was about to say something until they heard a loud crash sound and he would be honest that he completely forgot that the originals were fighting but he remembered now due to the gold and purple sparks in the distance that seemed to get closer…concerningly fast?
Before he could think, his enemy had pulled him to the side with them as he witness the one and only Macaque just get thrown to a tree with Wukong right behind him following, that was a bit terrifying but forget that, he just looked up at the other clone who had an unreadable expression.
“That…wha- ok I’m sorry what-“
“Apology accepted, I’m questioning why I even saved you! You made my nose bleed and I don’t even know if it’s broken due to your stone head!”
“EXCUSE YOU!? My head isn’t made of stone like the real Wukong for your information!”
“It sure felt like it though…curse my creator’s past feelings,” Said the shadow as he released the hair clone who just simply fell onto the dirt with a soft thump sound but that didn’t answer his question on why he’s bleeding.
They just stared at each other for what felt like hours but in reality, it was just five minutes, the clone of the king simply stood up and dusted off the dirt on their pants before speaking.
“Alright, whatever dripped from your nose has dried up. I don’t like how it strangely looks like black blood,” Wukong clone number too-big-to-name said in a curious and slightly soft tone as they gently rubbed off the black liquid around the shadow's nose.
Macaque’s clone was about to comment on their actions but that train of thought was cut off when the rusted furred monkey just punched them in the stomach…hard, he groaned in pain as he held his stomach area and looked up at the other who was just mischievously smiling.
The hair clone stared down at the shadow who reached out to them with their free hand and just caressed the place under their eye which meant their hand rested on their cheek, he just stared in confusion towards the shadowy monkey.
“Sorry not sorry about the punch but why-“
“Were your eyes always red? I could’ve sworn they were a shade of gold when we were fighting…”
“…what..? No no, they’re gold…Wait are they not!? Cause if they aren’t then this place is enchanted!”
“Yeah both of your eyes are red and I doubt it’s due to this place but yet again I could be wrong,” The tone the shadow spoke in was gentle and soft but with a hint of curiosity while they regain their posture and leaned towards the other slightly since they wanted to look at the red eyes better.
The hair clone would lie and say he didn’t have a light pink dusted on his cheeks and even if he did…which he didn’t, it was Wukong’s fault for having feelings for Macaque and just pushing them back into a place he could ignore them.
After a while the clone laughed nervously as he pushed off the other who just looked at them with slight confusion before he looked over to where the originals were fighting. He did hope Macaque was gonna be alright since he did get thrown at a tree earlier…that had to be painful.
“What now? We clearly don’t want to fight anymore due to you not being able to poof and my appearance changing suddenly which both are concerning! I also doubt that we’re becoming the creators since we just saw them and this whole situation is hurting my brain!” Wukong's clone yelled out suddenly as they tugged at their fur in frustration.
The sudden action of the other made the shadow cover their ears due to their yelling…? Wait, their hearing wasn’t sensitive like Macaque’s? Macaque had modified his clones so they didn’t have his hearing since it would distract them, just like how Wukong modified his so they weren’t an exact copy cause some liked to go rouge.
Macaque's clone covered their ears since their hearing started to become a lot more sensitive and overwhelming, the hair clone was growing concerned about them since he looked like he was in pain, truth be told…he was in a lot of pain from that.
The rusted furred monkey didn't know what he did next so he just blamed it on instinct apparently, he pulled the other in a hug but had the shadow’s head around the center of his chest as he started to run his hands through the dark fur.
The sensitive hearing left as soon as it came, Macaque’s clones slowly removed their hands away from their pair of ears and looked up at the other who had stopped and looked like a deer in headlights but the shadow was dropped onto the floor by the other who just held their arms to the side of his head.
It was awkwardly silent as they just stayed in their positions until the shadow got up a bit unbalanced due to their hearing getting used to the sounds at a normal volume, he looked around for a while before grabbing the other by the wrist and dragging them along as he walked.
The rusted furred monkey’s mind took a while to properly process what was happening until he started to walk with the other still holding their wrist, he stared at the black furred monkey who stopped at some point to look at their surroundings before walking in the same or different direction.
“Before you say anything, we’re going to have to go into hiding or at least far away from here. We both know that if what’s happening to us were to happen to other clones then the originals wouldn’t be fighting still and there wouldn’t be clones around”, he was telling the truth and the clone hated to give the shadow credit but it was the safest option.
Going back to Wukong would just lead to his existence being cut short, honestly, it was terrifying to think that he could just flick his wrists and they’d poof into nothing of hair and magic dust that would drift into the wind.
“Do you even have an idea of where to go at all?”
“We obviously can’t go to Flower Fruit Mountain for multiple reasons, either a small disclosed village or we go to a demon village…but since you look exactly like Wukong our safest choice is finding a village that’s far away from the two”
“I still don’t like you but I’ll tolerate you and your spooky glowy eyes…you’ll scare any type of kid whether they be demon or human with them”
“My eyes are perfectly fine!”
“Tell that to the kids we run into in the future, do you even have a clue which direction we’re heading!”
“Not at all but that won’t stop us either way…maybe I should’ve just left you behind”
“I can still hear you!” Wukong's clone shouted from behind the other, the shadow just laughed before letting go of the other and continuing walking and the red eyed monkey could already tell this was going to be a long journey…he hoped he could tolerate the shadow and any tricks they decided to do.

An alarm went off in the peaceful morning, it was weird dreaming of a memory from decades ago. He looked over at the clock and groaned as it read 4:37 am, the rusted furred monkey looked next to them on the bed and spotted the other clone sleeping peacefully.
He smiled softly before he snaked his way back under the blankets to sleep some more since someone forgot to set the alarm at the correct time but he’ll talk about it later, for now, he’ll enjoy the warm cuddles from the other as the shadow moved closer to him.
The shadow didn’t create warmth, it was more of him stealing the other clone’s body heat and storing it…like a snake sunbathing on a nice flat rock during summer but the shadow acted more like a cat and snake than a monkey due to them taking naps in the sun even though they complained how much the light hurts their eyes.
The rusted furred monkey chuckled softly as he nuzzled closer towards the others chest and if someone were to see him, it’d look like one monkey sleeping next to a mass of shadows which was true to some extent but he knew the townsfolk and they knew them due to the clones being there a long time ago.
He’ll have to get more sleep in a bit, he wanted to enjoy this small moment since the shadow likes waking up early to open up their Café and bakery that was connected and was in front of their cozy home, it was a good bakery according to the folk that came by to get some coffee (hot chocolate for the kiddos though or a simple juice) or puff pastry before they went to work or school.
Opening the shop wasn’t for another hour, so he’ll finally go back to sleep since his husband would wake him up when it’s opening time and he’ll just either dream of nothing, something absolutely random that would happen to sound like a fever dream or memories from their past.
For now, the monkey would let sleep take him for another hour or so, he smiled at the thought of spending another day with the clone next to him and running the bakery since the shadow ran the cafe section of it due to the bakery having brighter lights and being in the sun more than the cafe part.
——————————————————
Their morning had always started off slow and sluggish due to the monkey leaning against the shadow complaining how early it was and the other just shook their head and sighed but wrapped an arm around them to hopefully stop the complaint a bit, they both knew that running a bakery and cafe was hard work but to them was worth it.
They got ready for the morning and the rest of the day ahead of them, the shadow helped the clone by making two braids at the side near the front that got tied together at the back and he made sure to fix their bangs…they both had shoulder length hair so it was easier to make hairstyles than leave it loose.
The rusted furred monkey was more awake now and gathered the shadow's hair at the back for a low and small ponytail, he just ruffled the other’s bangs to annoy them but the shadow decided to leave them like that instead of fixing them and he knew that it would annoy the other later.
Wukong’s clone just sat on the chair as he waits for Macaque’s clone to finish getting their coat since it was a bit cold in the mornings, once they both had their coats and house key they were ready to head out and walk to their cafe and bakery that was literally a few minute walk away from their house.
They held hands through the whole walk and the shadow was talking about how many people would come through the day and the red eyed monkey tiredly nodded and smiled at the other speaking excitedly of what their day had in stored for them.
The sounds of the shops back door alerted the clone to snap out of their drowsy state, once they walked in they hung their coats on a rack and put on their aprons before kissing the other’s cheek and wishing them good luck but the shadow pinched the others cheek before leaving to open the cafe section.
That left the rusted furred monkey rubbing his left cheek gently as he sighed lovingly, he walked to the bakery section to bake the already prepared doughs from the night before which he was thankful for and he started to hum a random song he heard on the radio and he already knew it was gonna be a long day ahead of them.
