Chapter Text

this story is inspired by this song 's music video :D

Jinsol is madly in love.

So in love that all she can think about is when she can see her again.

She's been stuck daydreaming for about 10 minutes. Customers piling up in front of her and all Jinsol's doing is wearing a goofy smile.

Sooyoung, her manager, stomps out of her office. Jinsol might be her friend, but she's not when she's costing them business.

"Yah! Jeong Jinsol!" She shouts from across the still running DVD store. If she doesn't get Jinsol to snap out of it, the store won't be running for much longer.

Jinsol stays still, not minding her now furious boss and best friend, simply holding her head in her palm and smiling softly as she looks outside.

The customers groan and moan in frustration. Annoyed with the customer service and the woman acting like a lovestruck teenager on the clock.

Sooyoung motions for the actual teenage employee, Hyeju, to finally stop trying to pull gum off the DVD store's 90's carpet and open another lane so they continue making money.

When Hyeju gets all the customers checked out, Sooyoung drags Jinsol out from behind the register and into her office.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Sol??" Sooyoung tries for what seems like the 15th time.

Each attempt to get the woman to snap out of her dream is a failure and Sooyoung has half a mind to slam Jinsol into a wall.

Sooyoung thinks for what seems like forever, trying to get a way to snap Jinsol out of whatever's wrong with her.

She settles on something she's sure will work.

"You're fired, Jinsol." She says. Patting herself on her back for her innovative thinking.

Jinsol gives her a content hum and finally says something, "that's fine, you're the one who's gonna be even more short staffed."

"fucking finally." Sooyoung shouts and goes to pinch her best friend.

"What the hell, Soo!" Jinsol shouts at her. Sooyoung's pinches made Jinsol feel like she was just attacked by a crab.

"Nearly made us lose business by daydreaming, what's up with that?" Sooyoung finally asks. Her mind has an idea, but she wants to hear it from Jinsol herself.

"It's nothing." Jinsol says, trying to hide the girl that makes her days brighter and much more livelier. The smile displayed so proudly on her face says it's not nothing.

Sooyoung obviously sees this and break into a grin.

"Don't tell me it's nothing! I know that face! You're in love, Jeong Jinsol, aren't you?" She eagerly asks. Wanting to hear about the girl who's completely infatuated her best friend.

"I guess you can say that." Jinsol quietly says. Sooyoung grabs her shoulders, gives her a bear hug, and shakes her around. All while yelling "Finally! My best friend isn't going to die alone!"

Sooyoung let's go and clears her throat, realizing they're still at work and in a tight dingy office.

"Get back to work, Sol. You're closing tonight because of the stunt you just pulled. Tell Hyeju she's off the hook." Jinsol nods in understanding, refusing to tell Sooyoung about the girl she's head over heels for.

Mainly because she's a pop star from the early 2000's

Also because she's dead.
