Work Text:
“Hey Chris,” Claire says, in that innocent way that he viscerally knows means trouble, “Who’s the new boyfriend?”
He chokes on his coffee.
“The what.”
She beams, kicking her legs on his desk, and Jill snickers from the other side of the room. “The rookie. He knows how you like your coffee, and he blushed when you said his name.”
“He did not.”
“You blushed too.”
He points at Barry with his pen. “ You stay out of this.”
“You did. It was cute.”
“Leon’s just a friend. We get beers after work and watch a couple of games, it’s nothing.”
“Nothing, he says, while going on bro dates.”
Jill cackles.
Betrayed by his sister and his team, it’s not fair.
“Ah, leave him alone, they’ll figure it out eventually,” Barry says with a grin, clearly angling at being a voice of reason while being unhelpful.
Chris rolls his eyes. “I’m going to get some more coffee, you guys are killing me.” He picked up his still half full cup, heading out of the office as the room bursts into chaos before the door can even close.
“Hey, Chris?”
He’s smiling before he even turns the corner. “Hey,” he says, keeping his voice low as he presses Leon a little further back into the shadowed hallway to steal a kiss.
Leon chases his lips for a moment as they break apart. “I just wanted to know if we’re still on for tomorrow night?”
And there’s that blush everyone was talking about; Chris can feel it heating his cheeks as he nuzzles their noses together. “Wouldn’t miss it for the world. You’re still okay with everyone knowing?”
“I’m okay if you are.”
Instead of answering, Chris just kisses him again. He’s more than okay with everyone knowing he’s found the love of his life.
