Work Text:

Macaque didn't care what Wukong said. He and Demon Bull King were not enemies. Rivals ..sure but certainly not enemies. Especially not when either of them actually made the effort to kill eachother. Or rather that Wukong didn't make the effort to kill the Demon Bull and that the Demon Bull hadn't gone out of his way to hurt anyone Wukong cared about.
Hence why Macaque was sat at the dining table with a shackle on his ankle rather than in the Dungeon he knew The Demon King had.
Macaque leaned his cheek in his hand, twirling a strand of his fur around his finger at he stared at the Demon across from him who was sharpening his axe. "He's helping Momo move into a other cave with her family , he will be a while." Macaque said crossing his shackled leg over his other. His hanfu shifting with the movement.
Demon Bull King looked to Macaque, think brows furrowed, "Oh, how long?"
Macaque shrugged, "Wukong tends to get side tracked."
Dbk snorted, "that's putting it lightly."he paused, shifting slightly, "So he's unaware his mate is missing? If princess Iron Fan disappeared I'd k ow instantly."
Macaque looked to the sun through the glass roof, "he'll know in a few minutes when he comes to get me for lunch."
The king hummed, settling back in his seat, the silence was awkward to say the least. Unlike Wukong who had some sort of odd camaraderie friendship with DBK. Macaque was always closer to princess Iron Fan. Speaking of , "is Princess Iron Fan away?"
"Yes, she took Redson to Kunlun mountain."
Macaque grinned, "Oh I'm sure Redson will enjoy that."
Dbk huffed out what sounded like a laugh. "Yes, he's been obsessed with the place since hearing about it in one of his bedtime stories."
"You didn't want to go with them?"
The Demon kings smile fell, "No, unfortunately I do have an image to uphold ."
Macaque wrinkled his nose, he's heard all about that nonsense about upholding an image. Wikong had the same foolish belief whenever he was out challenging another Demon...or God. It annoyed Macaque to no end because what was life if you just lived it to constantly prove something to someone.
"Sounds like you miss out on alot of things."
Macaque watched as a look of sadness fell over the demon's features. They sat in silence until DBK spoke,"Would you like some tea?"
Macaque gave his best smile, "If you don't mind."

That's how Wukong found them when he finally barged in.
Macaque startled, almost dropping his third cup of tea when the wall next to him crumbled as though it were made of twigs. Wukong stood with Ruyi Jingu Bang help over his impressive shoulders. His robes slightly askew revealing his muscled chest and stomach. "Where is he?" The king snarled, his eyes a dangerous red.
Macaque sniffed, coughing slightly as he waved away the dust cloud. "Here ." He mumbled, watching as DBK stood, axe thrown over his own shoulders. "The monkey king finally decides to show himself."
Macaque looked between the two hulking figures, wrinkling his nose at their postering as he kicked out a shackled foot.
"One of you undo this please my leg is getting cramped."
That made the two pause, DBK turning to look at Macaque, "right, sorry." He mumbled, reaching across the table to break the chain.
With a relieved sigh Macaque smiled, "It's alright, I really didn't expect this one to take so long." He mumbled glaring at his mate.
Wukong pouted, "I was busy."
Macaque waved a dismissive hand, "Yes, yes, and now you're going to be busy finding me something to eat, I'm hungry and I'm sweaty."
He enjoyed how the great sage spluttered, "Moonlight-"
Ignoring the king Macaque turned to DBK, "Do you have any preferences for what you want to eat?"
The Demon Bull King cleared his throat, Flushing slightly, "I- we were-"
"Unless you want to try to fix that wall by yourself before Princess Iron Fan gets home?" Macaque asked sweetly. He wished he had a camera to take a photo of how embarrassed the Bull King looked, he was sure Princess Iron Fan would be overjoyed.
"No, I- I'm fine with anything."
Macaque grinned, clapping his hands together, "Wonderful, I craving plum pudding so that will have to do." He turned back to Wukong who was still standing at the entrance of the wall he collapsed doing his best expression of a fish.
Macaque slid from his chair, slightly uneasy as feeling returned to his legs.
Striding up to his floundering mate. "Well come on." He said, pulling at the monkey kings staff, only to nearly fall as it remained where it was. Macaque puffed out his cheeks as he felt the staff warm slightly, pulsing with magic as it laughed.
Wukong chuckled lightly, lifting the staff with ease as he shrunk it behind his ear, attaching it in the form of an earring. He curled his hand around Macaque's waist, pulling him close before sweeping his legs out from under him. Holding him bridal style.
"Try to keep up DBK."
The only reply was a grunt before Wukong walked off the ledge his arrival had created, falling a few feet before landing on his cloud and taking off.
