Adrien hopped out of his guard's car, waving goodbye. Without thinking, he quickly sputtered out “Oh, practice is ending an hour later today by the way! We have some uh, people trying out so..” He smiled stupidly, hoping they’d question nothing.
Nathalie rolled her eyes. “Where are you actually going, Adrien?” She asked knowingly. His smile quickly faded, resulting in an annoyed sigh. “I just want one break without getting caught, is that too much to ask?” He slouched in defeat, turning to actually go to practice. “I never said I’d tell Gabriel.” He whipped his head around to Nathalie who only smiled at him. “In the car.” She instructed. He gladly followed, hopping back in the car.
“Where are you going?” She asked. “Lukas house, please.” He answered. She typed in his address, instructing the dreadful guard. “You’re hanging with him a lot, huh?” She grinned as he typed on his phone. “Oh! Yeah. We’re close friends!” He answered with his eyes glued to his phone screen. He kept his eyes focused on the three dots, impatiently waiting for his reply.
"Can't wait to see you. <3" He smiled widely, cheeks tinting softly. Nathalie hummed, catching his attention. "Huh?" he asked. She shook her head, waving him away with her hand. "Nothing, don't worry about it." He nodded his head, refocusing his eyes on the trees passing him. He smiled softly when they turned down the last street.
"Have fun, make good choices. I'm trusting you, Adrien. You'll be picked up no later than 5:30. Be ready." She said as they pulled to his house boat. Adrien nodded his head, wishing her a well goodbye. He left as soon as he could, eagerly knocking on his door. Luka gladly answered it almost immediately.
"Hey, Adrien! Glad to see you." Luka greeted kindly, allowing him inside. "Thank you for having me!" "My pleasure." Adrien turned his head to the couch to greet Anarka, only to see her gone. Luka looked with him, realizing he'd forgotten to mention "Oh, I forgot to let you know she left to run some errands. She shouldn't be gone too long."
"No worries!" Luka began heading to his room, Adrien following close behind.
Adrien closed the door behind him, sitting down on Luka’s bed. “So, what do you want to do?” Luka asked, sitting at his desk. “Hmm..” Adrien hummed, his eyes scanning the room.
His eyes caught on Luka. No– His eyes caught on Lukas hands. More specifically, his nails. They’d been painted black, not a single spot smudged or chipped. Perfectly painted, perfectly glossy. “Do you have more nail polish?” Adrien asked shyly. “Why? Did my nails chip?” He asked, raising his hands to check.
“No! No, they look great!” He reassured. Luka raised a brow. “Then what’d you ask for?” Adrien stayed silent for a moment, tapping one of his feet anxiously. “I was just gonna ask if you could paint mine.” He pursed his lips, waiting for his answer.
Luka smiled, nodding his head. He grabbed his polish off his desk before sitting next to the blonde. “Will you get in trouble?” Luka asked, shaking the small bottle violently. He shrugged. “Maybe, but I don’t mind. I want to try it.” Luka hummed, opening the bottle.
He dapped off the extra pant along the inner rim of the botte before setting the bottle on his nightstand. “So, how’d you manage to get Nathalie to drive you here in a fencing day?” He finally asks, taking Adriens hand in his to be more precise.
“She caught me and just offered a ride.” He shrugged gently. “Really?” He asked genuinely, finishing the polish on his thumb, turning his hand to his fingers. “Mhm.” Adrien hummed. “How’ve things been at home?” Adrien took a moment to think on this one. Partially because he couldn't decide to lie or not, and partially because he was so mesmerized by the polish that was being dragged across his pointer fingernail.
“Um..” He stalled, watching as Luka finished up his nail moving to the next. “They’ve been okay.” He lied with a soft smile. “You sure?” He asked, glancing up at him. “You can be honest with me, Adrien. I won’t tell a soul.” He said, locking his lips with a fake key before returning to painting Adriens nails.
“Well, things have been a bit rough, but I don’t mind. It happens.” Luka hummed, starting on his fourth nail. “You can talk more about it if you want. Or I could just silently comfort you, whatever would help.” He offered.
“It’s just my father being a bit.. Out there.” “What do you mean by that?” He asked, dipping the brush back in the thick liquid before finishing off his left hand. “Well, I.. I told my father something recently that he completely hated and he’s been completely batshit crazy ever since.” He answered honestly.
“What’d you tell him?” He asked, gently picking up Adriens other hand. "I told him I want to quit being a model. He thinks something is wrong with me and is going crazy over it." Luka frowned, dragging the brush along his nail. "That really sucks, I'm sorry." He said soothingly. Adrien shook his head.
"It's fine, it'll be fine soon." He smiled. "I have plenty of people around me who can keep me happier until things do get better." Looking up at him with a grin, his heart skipped a beat. Luka smiled at him, glancing between his hands and his eyes.
"I'm glad. Who keeps you going at your best?" Luka asks, swaying the conversation to a lighter topic. "Well my friends, and Nathalie, and this person I really like.." He trails off casually. Luka hums teasingly. "Who's this mysterious person?" He teases. "A close friend." He grins, knowing he's being an annoyance to him. Luka chuckles, moving onto the next nail. "Really? Wow. What's this close friend like?" He nudges.
"He's kind, and smart, very calm. He's one of the most understanding people I've ever met." Luka's heart skipped a beat. Multiple beats dare he admit. "He?" Adrien, grinned, nodding his head. "Yeah.." He trails off in thought. "So, Agreste is into guys?" He grins, beginning to paint his last nail. "He is."
Adrien stares at Luka, glancing between his eyes and lips, unsure where to settle. It doesn't take long for Luka to notice this. Luka begins painting his last nail, unsure what to ask next. "Do you plan to act on it?" He asks, coating every edge of his nail with the thick liquid, finishing off a perfect set of polished nails.
Adrien hums hesitantly, unsure how to answer a question he hadn't even asked himself. "I feel like it's pretty obvious I like him already." Luka grinned, raising an eyebrow. "Hm. Does he now? Why do you think that?" Adrien shrugged. "I hang out with him as much as I can and am pretty much always finding ways to be closer with him. I also just kind of feel like he knows." He shrugged again.
Luka hummed, leaning closer to him teasingly. "What other boys do you hang out with a lot?" He jokes, making Adrien grin. "You'd be surprised." He leaned close as well, leaving about an inch of space between them. Not only was Luka now flustered, but he was also confused. Was he this guy or not?
His eyes were jumping up and down indecisively, unsure if he was okay letting Adrien know he felt this way for him. Despite their strong bond and close relationship, neither were very open about romantic feelings regarding anyone. This made actually bringing it up difficult.
"Luka," He mumbled, raising his hand to the back of his neck. Luka shivered at the touch, immediately making eye contact with him. "Hm?" He hummed in question. Staring down at the boys lips, he spoke. "Can I ki-" Interrupting his sentance, Nathalie called him making them both jump.
Immediately they parted, answering the call. "Hello?" He said casually. "Adrien, we've been here for 5 minutes! Your father will be furious if you're late! Get out here!" She rambled. He quickly scurried to squeeze on his shoes and grab his stuff, apologizong to Nathalie repeatedly in the process.
The call ended just as fast as it'd began, leaving both boys in an awkward rush. "Sorry, I'm late. I'll see you tomorrow?" He said, waving goodbye and rushing to the door. Before he could reach it, Luka pulled him around to face him. "See me out at 10." With one quick wink, he waved Adrien goodbye. His heart swarming with butterflies, he waved back before rushing out with a lovesick grin.
