Wolf was walking home from a day in school. She was tired but ready to hang out with her siblings for a few hours. They hadn't really planned what they would do, but it was okay, sometimes it could be fun with surprises. It was very silent and calm on the way home, Wolf liked the peaceful moment, but it didn't last for long. A boy in class called Chris, who was a umlaut snake, used to mock her nearly everyday. Wolf could handle it, but he still pissed her off.
He was alone today, otherwise he would hang out with a timbercat and a humming bomber kid. They were all three taller than Wolf, and they always took advantage of that. They would never physically hurt her since they knew who she lived with and who she was herself, but that didn't mean that they couldn't tease her sometimes.
"Hello shortie, how's the weather down there?" Chris laughed as he circled the human girl a few times before stopping in front of her.
"That one's really old. Can't you come up with something new?" Wolf muttered, rolling her eyes with a sigh.
She didn't have time for Chris' games, she just wanted to go home and hang out with Kipo and Hugo for a bit, though she would never say that out loud.
"You can roll your eyes as much as you want, that won't change that you're the second shortest in class." Chris mocked and Wolf ignored him to not get into a fight, that would give her a bad rumor and she didn't feel like dealing with that.
"At least I can fight better than you, so watch your mouth." Wolf said, trying to get past the annoying snake who was getting on her nerves, but he stopped her.
"Then fight me if you're so much better. Or do you need Kipo to do it for you instead 'cause you're so teeny tiny?" Chris said and that was the last straw for Wolf.
She formed her hands into fists and was just about to punch the snake when a hand was placed on her shoulder. She looked up and saw Hugo, he ahd heard everything and was glaring at the snake who backed off. He sure had heard about Hugo, or at least who he had been before he became Hugo. Nobody really dared to go against Hugo, remembering what he could do to them though he had already apologized for it and promised not to do it again.
"What is happening here?" Hugo said, his glares ice cold as Chris started looking small and vulnerable.
"Uhhh... No- nothing... Mister Hugo..." Chris stuttered, rolling himself into a ball to show that he wasn't being bad.
"Didn't seem like that. You didn't happen to be messing with my little sister for being shorter than you, did you?" Hugo continued and Chris shook his head in fear. "I think you're lying to me, young man, but I'll let it slide for this time. If I ever hear about you messing with Wolf again, I'll personally have a talk with your parents about your behavior."
Chris looked down to the ground in shame, he didn't want his parents to know that he messed around with a few kids from class, that would most definitely get him in trouble. He just wanted to be respected instead of looked down on.
"I'm sorry, it won't happen again..." Chris promised and Hugo grinned at the young snake.
"Good, besides, the only one who can tease Wolf about being short is me. Now, leave." Hugo said and Chris nodded before hurrying away from them to get home as fast as he could.
When the world went back to peace again, Wolf turned around to look at Hugo with a smile on her face. She usually just ignored Chris and his stupid comments, but she was thankful that Hugo had shown up and helped her.
"Thank you." Wolf smiled and Hugo nodded, grinning back at the much smaller girl before the two started walking back home where they would meet up with Kipo who had been fixing things around Las Vistas instead of school since she was once of the best students and didn't really need to be in class everyday.
"You know... That kid wasn't totally wrong, you ARE pretty short." Hugo said and Wolf hit hin lightly on the side which had him laughing out loud.
"You're an idiot, you know that!?" Wolf said with a grin on her face since she wasn't actually annoyed with her big brother.
"Maybe sometimes, but so are you. Now, let's get home before Kipo goes all nuts and leaves without us." Hugo laughed and Wolf agreed as the two walked a bit faster to get home quicker.
