He could feel the Force flow through him. Like a swirling wind, she surrounded him. The Force turned his blood into water, cleansed him from the inside out. A stream flowed through him, faster than the crimson liquid ever could. The Force was strong – wise, fast and endless. The ancient energy field, older than the galaxy itself, connected him to the things around him and bound him to the ground he was standing on.
As he slowly lifted the rocks, he could feel them. Their heavy weight and gravity trying to pull them down. His own resistance to their Living Force energy. Every single crack, their shape and their hard surface were visible to his inner eye.
This was Obi-Wan Kenobi, like nobody had seen him in the span of ten years. A Jedi master so precise in his movements that a simple being would not be able to comprehend his sheer power. He knew what to do, as he had done it a million times before.
He acted as the catalyst for the Force. Gave her everything he had to offer and got power in return.
One rock after another rained down on Vader, all his old feelings towards his former apprentice slowly leaving his soul with every single rock that he let dash forward.
And when the last stone hit Vader’s suit, Obi-Wan finally let go.
Of everything that had been keeping him separated from the light for the past ten years. The memory of a ten-year old blonde boy shaking his hand for the first time. The thousands and thousands of hours spent sparring that had bled them into one singular being in combat. Their brotherhood that had run deeper than blood.
He let go of Anakin.
His old friend had shone brighter in the Force than any Jedi he had ever met, brighter than the twin suns on Tattooine. But now the once familiar feeling of warmth was gone. Over the years, darkness had begun to corrupt the light in Anakin’s soul, slowly consuming him and turning him against everything he had ever believed to be rightful and true.
Obi-Wan had always thought of him as a star, the light so bright it would burn your eyes if you didn’t look away fast enough. But now, when he reached out into the Force, all he could feel was a pool of darkness that shook him to his core.
The brightness had vanished and all that remained was the mere shadow of something that had once given him so much hope. What remained was the sheer black void of the galaxy that Anakin’s light had once illuminated.
Now, Obi-Wan knew that his fall had been inevitable from the start.
After all, eventually even stars burn out.
